A thread for those wanting to have a go at the 7lbs in 7 days Juice 'Diet' by Jason Vale.

Hardcore juicers will consume juice for 7 days and nothing else. Less hardcore juicers may be replacing 1 or 2 meals a day with juice. All juicers welcome Grin

I plan to do it for 1 week (at the moment).

Last time I followed the plan - I felt refreshed, revitalised and clean.

We plan to start on Monday morning.

The recipe book can be bought very cheaply on ebay. Or the iphone app is only a couple of quid.

To get us started I am posting a shopping list which should cover the first three days, with plenty of stuff over for the rest of the week. The last time I did this 3-day shop online (Asda) it cost me about £30 (not including the supplements)

12 lemons
4 limes
35 apples (not Granny Smiths ? they don?t juice well)
3 avocados
3 pineapples
3 cucumbers
3 bananas
Bag of carrots
Bunch of celery
1 head of broccoli
1 raw beetroot
1 courgette
Stem of fresh ginger
1 bag watercress
1 bag spinach
1 bulb fennel
Fresh mint (optional)
Fresh parsley (optional)
Large pot natural (unsweetened) yoghurt
Ice cubes

Wheatgrass powder
Spirulina powder
Probiotic powder/tablets

I lost a pound a day, the first week I did it in february.
I didn't go to the loo for a few days, so I got some fibre tablets from boots and they improved the situation :o

bargainlil · 02/08/2012 18:28

Thanks poppedou 7 Iwanna - Just had another dose of psylium husk & plenty of water so hopefully tomorrow some of the bloating will subside and the constipation will stop too. I've been out all day today & felt really tired and bit grumpy & snappy which is not normally like me - DH is putting it down to the juicing & urging me to eat; but I'm not giving in now so he'll have to put up with me!!
Onwards & Upwards!

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 02/08/2012 18:49

I've felt a bit lightheaded and dizzy this aft. Jason says we should be feeling wonderful and energetic. Don't know about anyone else on here but I'm definitely not feeling either of these! Have eaten an apple and some ryvitas. Am not even hungry but want FOOD! We're over half way though now. Have succumbed to half an avocado, half a banana, an apple and ryvitas yest and today so can't be said to be truly sticking to it. I didn't manage the full week last time as I remember but still looked better for it so as you say lil onwards and upwards.

Iwannamovenow · 03/08/2012 07:58

I've just weighed myself, i've definately lost 3lb, maybe 4 :)

I had a horrendous headache for a day or so, and felt sick which I think was caffeine withdrawal.

I felt fine yesterday and seem to have loads of energy this morning, even with very little sleep this week (thanks ds2)

catinboots · 03/08/2012 16:08

I just ate half a cheese string Blush

Not been hungry all day - then suddenly ravenous. Off to make juice after I have washed up the juicer from earlier

catinboots · 03/08/2012 16:08

I did do BodyJam at the gym this morning though which might explain the hunger

What's everyone's plans for next week? When the 7 days are up.....

OP posts:
Iwannamovenow · 03/08/2012 19:54

I'm going to carry on with what i've been doing.
At least 2 juices, a bowl of bran flakes if I'm going daft, and a meal in the evening.

Thanks for starting the thread cat, it was the kick up the bum that I needed :) Thanks

catinboots · 03/08/2012 20:20

I was thinking about doing 2 juices and 1 healthy meal too.

I was also thinking about just doing the more vegetable based juices (like turbo chute juice)

I normally diet by doing low-carb, so I'm struggling a bit with all the pineapples.

OP posts:
Iwannamovenow · 03/08/2012 20:35

I had pizza for tea... it was home made though but not exactly healthy :o

I just have the same juice, I can make it with my eyes closed.

I don't diet... I once did atkins years ago and fainted on the second day.

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 03/08/2012 20:42

Fell off the wagon today and have had NO juice as just couldn't face it. I felt so crap and dizzy I thought I was going to keel over when I was walking at one point yesterday. But saying that I do feel I've lost weight as clothes definitely looser and I have cut out all the chocolate and crap that I've been eating more and more of. I am going to have porridge for breakfast, juice for lunch and some protein and veg combo for evening meal and see how it goes next week. This has got me off the junk and unecessarily big portions of food so thanks from me as well cat for suggesting this. And I feel better that I've used my juicer again which I bought on impulse from Amazon in the middle of the night and was bitterly regretting having only used it for 2 weeks up till now.

catinboots · 03/08/2012 22:56

I've had wine

and a Curly Wurly

Blush

Back on hardcore juicing tomorrow for last two days

Morning all,

Felt really negative yesterday after not losing anything in the first 5 days. We were at the beach all day yesterday, so dutifully filled my flask with juice and loads of bottles of water and packed a picnic for dh & the dc's. Apart from snaffling about 10 pringles, I did just drink water & the juice all day & even when we stopped for takeaway on the way home I just had my water & juice while they all sat munching theirs!

So, after being almost saintly all week & now being sick of the sight of that bloody juicer, I have weighed myself this morning & lost 3lb,Shock which while not being the amount I was expecting is better than nothing. Just for sheer bloody-mindedness I will stick to the program until Monday & do the whole 7 days just to see if I can manage the 7lbs, but not holding out too much on this! Hmm
I think, for me, with the amount of fruit (sugar) in this, juicing doesn't suit me as a diet plan. While we were out yesterday, I noticed that I became bloated after drinking the juice - & this was just a superjuice - no yoghurt in it? Confused
I will try & follow some of the juicing recipes with mostly veg in for the next few days too like cat and see if that makes a difference.

As for the plan after the 7 days, If I can find a veg juice I like, I'll drink that at least once a day and then eat a small healthy meal with the family at dinner time.Smile I'm going on holiday on Wednesday to the UK & visiting family & friends all over the place, so juicing is going to be an unlikely option as going to be staying in a mixture of hotels & friends & families houses, so I'll in the main just have to revert back to my lowcarb diet mantra which is easier to stick to whilst en route!

Happy juicing today ladies - we're on the home straight now!!

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 04/08/2012 13:15

3lbs is good in a week lil. And what willpower to get through a picnic and stick to juice. That is bloody good. Though as Jason says 7 perhaps we could sue him under the trade description act!LOL I'd say I've lost about the same - 3lbs ish. I don't get weighed but go by how I feel and how my clothes look and fit. I have had to resort to Movicol sachets - have had 3 a day for 2 days and STILL haven't been to the loo! I don't think I've been since Mon! Don't feel bloated but think the lack of fibre isn't good.

Have had toast for breakfast, an avocado, cucumber and watercress for lunch and will have a prawn salad tonight. Will try go carry on in this sort of style for as long as I can bear to. I def look a bit sleeker. Well done for those of you who have stuck with it. I did much better the first time I did it and am a bit annoyed at myself for caving in but it has got me back on the straight and hopefully more narrow. Have a good weekend all.

smellyolddog · 05/08/2012 11:34

Ohhh very excited I've not been on NM for a while and just found you'd moved and set up this thread just as I've started my next batch of juicing!! Can I join in now or am I too late?

I've just had a superjuice for breakfast, I've managed a full week with no cheating before the first 3 days the headache was just awful.

Spirulina powder is YUCK!! i threw away the juice that I put it in I really couldn't face it.

BUT the apple night time drink with ciniman in it is yummy so I have that in the morning, it tastes like McDonalds apple pie Grin

OK so I'm 9st 11lbs and I want to loose 11 in the next 2 weeks ready for my holiday to wear my - cut away swimming costume and bikini that I bought on a whim.

I'm also training for a 10 mile run (I managed 3 miles yesterday with only 2 stops) So fingers crossed I'll join Cat and get my result quickly, else the cut out swimming costume will look rather full at the side bits.

smellyolddog · 05/08/2012 11:39

Something that helps me I just wanted to share -

That I order my friut and veg from a local grocers that deliver that way I don;t have to lug the entire fruit section of sainsburys and I order online, and I don;t have to go and walk past the cakes and sweets and crisps.

catinboots · 05/08/2012 14:25

Welcome smelly!

Not too late. My last day of pure juicing is today, but I'm planning on carrying on. From tomorrow I will juice for brekkie and lunch then eat a soup or salad for dinner.

OK great - well I'll keep posting - you did really well by the way, what was the weight loss for? your confidence or an event? or just because?

Yfandes · 05/08/2012 22:58

Sorry to barge in - what juicers do you all have and how easy are thhey to clean? Want to have a go, but not convinced yet! Smile

CourgetteSmuggler · 06/08/2012 11:17

Hi Juicers!

Am I okay to join in too?
I'm not 100% juicing because I've included raw fruit and veg into the diet too. I really need something to chew on so I'm having salads and fruit snacks too.

I'm planning on doing this until Saturday the 18th as I have a big event, I'm planning to loose 7lbs.
only 12 days left.. Sad

Iwannamovenow · 06/08/2012 20:48

I somehow managed to lose 5lbs last week!?

And that was after pizza, 3 hot chocolates over the week and chippy on Saturday night :o

Lolcbcb · 07/08/2012 18:24

Hi all
Can I ask you a few questions?
I saw this thread and thought I would quite fancy trying it!
However I am currently trying for a baby and was scared it could be damaging if I did fall pg but didn't know about it and just had juice.
What vitamins do you take and do you know if they are safe during pregnancy?
Thanks x

smellyolddog · 08/08/2012 23:03
