Lots of you have said you want to do this - now it's time to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.

Oh, alright, it's free. Grin

The plan is that we have two very strict weeks of low carbing. Which is why, doh, it's called a bootcamp.

There are 'rules of engagement' for the fortnight - but they're different if you're carnivore or a vegetarian. I shall post the rules for us carnivores, and flipflopflap will post the rules for those of you that are vegetarians.

Sign in with your starting weight - in pounds, stones and pounds, kilos or - if you don't want to reveal your weight, with 100 as an index - and what you're wanting to achieve in the two weeks. I know that not everyone is doing this for the purpose of weight loss, so you don't have to do this if you don't want to - but tell us what you want this fortnight to help you achieve.

The Carnivore Rules

1.Eat three, proper meals a day.
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food
Focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs. Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. You can have them, but just not every day. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Eat lots of fat.

Eating fat helps you to burn fat. Honestly! Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though, as this is too sweet), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ?
This is where your carbs should come from, and this is non-negotiable. But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list. You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

*5.Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited). It can impede weight loss for some people. If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but don't overdo it. Full fat yoghurt is the best way to include dairy in your diet - but beware, it does contain carbs. Total Full Fat is the best.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol
If you really can't do this - at least try and restrict it to the weekend. Vodka with soda is the best thing to drink. Or Champagne, red wine or dry white wine.

8.No fruit
Really. Seriously. Honestly. None at all. Zilch. Nada.

9.No nuts/seeds
Whilst these are really good to snack on later - it can be too easy to start snacking on these - and before you know it, all your carbs have gone on nuts. Seriously - in bootcamp - don't do it to yourself.

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

FourThousandHoles · 16/04/2012 22:18

Off to bed now, feeling very full and not craving anything. I did have a weak moment in Aldi earlier, going past the sweet/choc/cakes. I think I may actually have dribbled a little bit.

If I drink any more water I think I will disolve from the inside out

FauxFox · 16/04/2012 22:20

I did well today Smile
B: 2 white coffees and a slice of parma ham
L: 2 egg mushroom omelette and a tomato
S: slice of parma ham and two slices parmesan
D: Salad with bacon, avocado and a sprinkle of parmesan
Also drank well over 2L of water.

Just having a peppermint tea now then off to bed!

Creamtea1 · 16/04/2012 22:24

Ledkr- hope you feel better tomorrow, even though have got loo envy Smile

teaandthorazine · 16/04/2012 22:36

Am throwing my scales away. Just weighed (I know, I know) and apparently I've put on 6 lbs since this morning Hmm

Will stick to the digital ones in clinic, at least that way I can't be hopping on and off them every day and driving myself insane...

elastamum · 16/04/2012 22:55

signing in. 10st 10lb. Long term goal to lose a stone.

Really tiring day. Left at 7.30am. 4hrs driving to a client meeting. Cheated and ate oatbran for breakfast as no time to cook eggs. Nothing but 2 meals of fish and salad all day. Am hungry Sad

Tortington · 16/04/2012 23:11

b: coffee - black
d: mexican chicken from M&S
T:chicken balti - low carb

TheShapeJaper · 16/04/2012 23:18

In bed with tremendous headache. Been suffering all day. Low carbing for 3 wks, can only put it down to caffeine withdrawal. Never realised I was so dependant!

FiddleDeFat · 16/04/2012 23:20

Just seen the recipe for Oopsie Rolls on the other thread. It has made me so ridiculously excited - this could change my entire fortnight! Grin

Schnarkle · 16/04/2012 23:21

B: salmon fillet
L: stirfried allowed veg, pork medallions in creme fraiche sauce
T: cheeses and sliced turkey

Not hungry AT ALL, considering for the past 2 weeks I've been eating as if food was going out of fashion. Trying to drink the water, I forsee a night on the loo for me.

MNP · 17/04/2012 00:09

Burnt dinner so had

D:pulled ham with red peer, mayo and lettuce
S: pâté on cucumber.

Managed almost 4 ltr and 2nd loo roll,

Gincognito · 17/04/2012 06:27

LoopingLizards, is there any reason you only had egg whites? Cos you are positively encouraged to eat the yolks on this diet - nutritionally speaking they are where all the good stuff is!

smokinaces · 17/04/2012 06:56

Quick check in. Didn't exercise - as I thought family stuff happened. Was in bed by ten. Just some cream cheese and red pepper as a snack.
Woke this morning not hungry :-) had a pt of water, similar amount of tea and buttered mushrooms with a one egg omlette with a touch of cheese and tomato. Off to work and no internet!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/04/2012 06:59

Morning [bucket of water emoticon]

I had to get up to go to the loo in the night - never do that!

But in Other News, I am in ketosis, now need to make sure I stay here Grin

I know that because I have those sticks that BIWI doesn't like

BettyBathroom · 17/04/2012 07:07

Gincognito just posted recipe for Paneer masala with spinach and coconut with cauliflower rice.

FauxFox · 17/04/2012 07:25

Morning all, my plan is salami for breakfast, omelette and salad lunch, salmon fillet, spring greens and mashed swede for tea. And gallons of water natch. Am currently drinking non-negotiable white coffee but will keep it to 2 cups a day instead of my usual 20 Grin

PorkyandBess · 17/04/2012 07:34

Morning! 2lbs lighter this am.

I also had to get up in the night for a wee in addition to the 35 times in the day!

doradoo · 17/04/2012 08:06

2lbs down well done!

Here am 100g down but felt like I ate the earth yesterday.... perhaps not quite in the spirit of things. Anyway adding myself to the list again as I got lost yesterday.

Morning all, I am 2lb down and not hungry, after the school/pre school run I am off to the gym.
Have had water/coffee so far Smile

TheShapeJaper · 17/04/2012 08:26

Morning, a long night dreaming about going to the loo Blush have weighed myself and no change since yesterday. Finding it so hard to lose weight since the birth of DC2, two years ago. No matter what I do, even low carbing doesn't have the effect it once had Sad

BIWI · 17/04/2012 08:27

Morning everyone! Well, day 1 down - only 13 to go!

Can I make an observation though?

Some of you look like you're not eating very much. YOU MUST EAT PROPER MEALS.

This is a way of eating it is not a diet. There is to be no deprivation (other than the usual longing for the stuff you've given up for the next fortnight!) and you should not be going hungry. You do not have to count calories. You must not cut out the fat. You must eat decent portions.

Eggs without the yolks don't make sense, and (unless you don't like them, of course) there is absolutely no reason to not eat them.

So - a proper breakfast, a decent amount of (low carb) veg with your meals and plenty of fat.

... as well as the water!

re caffeine - the first edition of Atkins "The New Diet Revolution" said that coffee/caffeine stimulated a release of insulin (and it's the insulin that causes us to lay down fat). The latest edition says that this isn't the case. But it's still reported by some that we should give up caffeine.

As far as bootcamp is concerned, it's up to you. I suggested in the 'rules' restricting your tea/coffee intake to 2 cups per day not because of the caffeine but because of the milk that you will be consuming in the drink - and milk can add a lot of carbs to your day, as well as (for some people) impeding weight loss.

So if you can drink tea/coffee black, then feel free.

OP posts:
BIWI · 17/04/2012 08:29

TheShapeJaper - it's only one day! Don't be so impatient. You have 14 days of this. There can be all manner of reasons why you don't lose, or even why you may gain, from one day to the next.

Have you taken your measurements as well?
