I have known for ages that I am steadily putting on weight
I have been ignoring it
So of course I am still steadily putting on weight

I have no clothes that fit me properly any more

I need to lose 3 stone

I need a kick

Does anybody wan to join me in losing weight ? Or does anyone just want to pop in every now and then to give me pearls of wisdom and/or a kick up my ample backside ?

I am the same! I will watch your thread with interest and send you support! God, I am lardy

travellingwilbury · 07/03/2012 08:10

Are you ready to do something about it caffeine ? I have been pretending it's not happening for ages but today I took a deep breath and stood on the scales .

Was very scary but I now can't ignore it any longer .

Right my plan is :

I am only going to have carbs before 2 , I have cut them out completely before but I can't sustain that and it made me a bit obsessive about them .
Cut out beer , will still have a drink but a wee vodka with a slimline mixer instead .
Move my fat arse more , I use the car far too much .

Clean my house , when I eat rubbish the way I have been doing it leaves me feeling lazy , I need to get my ooomph back .

Any more ideas gratefully recieved .

Top tip from my sister - if you ever fancy picking the leftovers from the kids plates - squirt a bit of antibac spray on it as soon as they have finished. Mind you I have attempted this but still manage to pick bits off on the way to get the spray. No willpower!! Good luck - I will join you.

travellingwilbury · 07/03/2012 08:31

Thanks Jess , I am off to stupid work in a min but will be back this afternoon to pick up some will power .

I'm definitely up for joining you wilbury, I desperately need to get started, and I think doing it in a group is a great idea. I've downloaded myfitnesspal and iMapMyWalk onto my iPhone this week and have even done the first run of Couch to 5k, so I think I've made a positive step at least... I just need to keep it up! Let's motivate each other!

AllShiney · 07/03/2012 08:48

I'm in the same boat.

I'm using the myfitnesspal app on my phone to track my calories and also record what exercise I'm doing.

My plan is:

?only snack on fruit (major challenge for me)
?drink 8 glasses of water a day
?get my steps up to 10000 a day (I don't drive and my daily is around 6K so I just need to push a bit more)
?do 15 minutes at least on my eliptical trainer. (I know it's not much but I'm starting small and feel great when I double it some days)

I am trying to eat breakfast with protein every day and specifically eggs as I've recently read people who eat eggs for breakfast were more likely to lose weight.

Do you have anything to aim for? I need to lose about 50lb but am aiming to drop 2 dress sizes for June as I'm a bridesmaid.

shinecrazydiamond · 07/03/2012 10:16

Hello allshiney : )

I keep getting PM's and the like- folk are thinking you are me. Due to some recent problems I have had on here [ clash of real life in a very unpleasant way leading to a deletion of all of my history going back years ] would you consider tweaking your name or changing it? Thank you

shinecrazydiamond · 07/03/2012 10:19

Hello TW! Are you well?

I am currently on another thread but will pop in here too. I have lost almost 2 stone since January 21st- with maybe 7lbs left to go.

LilacWaltz · 07/03/2012 10:21

Anyway..

Yes! I'm moving house soon and being lazy about packing/organising, so get what you say about housework!

The springlike weather helps to motivate. I am considering re starting the shred and c25k!

Low carbing too... I also got obsessive last time with it

uptohere · 07/03/2012 10:42

Get some cocounut oil (the pure stuff, found by the cooking oils in supermarket, or in HF shops) - and get around 3-4 tablespoons of it per day in your diet (cook, with it, add it to coffee, eat it raw) it speeds up your metabolism (google it). My aunt has used it in conjunction with a healthy diet and has lost masses of weight! Has a myriad of other uses and health benefits too. Here's hoping it'll work for me too!!

AllShiney · 07/03/2012 13:15

shinecrazydiamond maybe I am you? Maybe I'm one of your other personalities posting while you're asleep (although obviously not the thin one....)?

I'll have a think about a different name. But if I keep any kind of shine in there you may have the same problem.

Sorry to thread jack but couldn't seem to pm you!

AllShiney · 07/03/2012 13:18

uptohere I have just been to the shop. Typical that I left about ten minutes before you wrote that! I'll add it to the list though - sounds good.

I'm thinking of low carbing too but it's what I crave the most so I'm scared :)

travellingwilbury · 07/03/2012 14:45

Hello to all , glad to have the company .

So far so good today , just back from work and I haven't eaten rubbish in the car or grabbed crisps when I got back .

Had some soup and toast (just made it in before two)

Well done shiney that is a brilliant amount , what is your secret ? Hope all ok with you now , nice to see you back in your old name .

I haven't heard about the coconut oil thing before , will google it and have a look , anything that makes this easier has got to be worth a try .

How is everyone doing ?

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 07/03/2012 14:57

TW - My secret is Zoe Harcombe. I recently did the phase 1 of her plan and dropped over half a stone alone in 5 days. It is very hardcore and not for the faint hearted but great for a boost.

travellingwilbury · 07/03/2012 15:00

Not for the faint hearted you say ? Sounds a bit scary for me , I am a bit faint of heart . I will have a look though , I have got to get rid of this blubber .

OP posts:
MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 07/03/2012 15:20

Somebody gave me that coconut oil tip, and that's the reason I'm on this bloody board now! Was slim before I started eating that stuff! Angry

travellingwilbury · 07/03/2012 15:45

I have just been reading about it mychild it doesn't really make sense to me , all that saturated fat can't be a good thing I wouldn't have thought .

OP posts:
MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 07/03/2012 15:55

Somebody on MN said eat three tablespoons a day. Gives you the most amazing glowy skin. Flattens your stomach. Natural goodness. Blah, blah. Me like an idiot dismissed the fact that it has 140 calories per 15g and followed their advice, adding the equivalent of an extra meal to my daily calories! Hmm

travellingwilbury · 07/03/2012 15:58

Oh dear , I was already to go and buy it but I thought I would have a quick google first , thanks for he warning , think I will give it a miss .

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 08/03/2012 08:47

Day 2 and my youngest is poorly and off school , so no work for me .

Now this is normally when I would attack the bread all day and eat more than needed , I am so tired after being up in the night with him so if anyone has any more kicks , or just wants to keep me on the right track then please do .

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 09/03/2012 09:14

Day 3 and I am still determined to do this . The first week is a breeze though isn't it ? In comparison to next week anyway .

I need to have at least 2 stone gone by July . That is my first goal .

Where have you all gone ?

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 09/03/2012 11:00

Hello!

I'm here!

I am back to full motivation - I want to lose 5lbs by the 17th March. I know that doesn't sound much [ and I still have a little to lose after that ] but it is my first major goal.

So I am back to full low carbing shite. Sigh

travellingwilbury · 09/03/2012 12:08

Hello !

Being stuck in the house is so dull , I have managed not to eat shite though so that is good . I am sticking to the no carbs after 2 rule and I feel better for it already .

Must remember to keep drinking the water , I am actually looking forward to weighing myself tomorrow , I can't stick to just doing it once a week , I need the motivation to much . The first week is normally a good loss so that should keep me going next week .

Low carbing is rubbish isn't it ? But it works .

Come on the rest of you .

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 09/03/2012 13:28

yes low carb is utter shit. More so when you love cake and pasta. But...it works really.

I have eaten...

brown rice cereal with natural live yogurt

stir fried sugar snap peas, mange tout, orange pepper, quorn fillets and 40g of feta.

trying to drink more water too.

So is it your first weigh in tomorrow?
