I have known for ages that I am steadily putting on weight
I have been ignoring it
So of course I am still steadily putting on weight

I have no clothes that fit me properly any more

I need to lose 3 stone

I need a kick

Does anybody wan to join me in losing weight ? Or does anyone just want to pop in every now and then to give me pearls of wisdom and/or a kick up my ample backside ?

It will only be day 4 tomorrow but I am going to do a half ish week one , hopefully I will see that things are working and that will keep me going over the weekend .

Or I will see that what I am doing is rubbish and I will have to change tack , and go no carb all day instead of just after 2 . Then I will be grumpy .

Right today is day 6 and as of saturday I have so far lost 5 pounds , now I know that is mostly fluid but it does mean that I am doing something right so I am going to carry on doing the same for another week or so and then up the exercise .

A typical day atm is
breakfast - peanut butter on toast x 1
yoghurt
piece of fruit

lunch - soup and toast or eggs with toast

dinner - chiken and salad or anything really but no carbs .

Any snacks I have I am keeping to fruit , yoghurt or a cup of soup .

I am determined to get rid of this flabby stuff and to be able to wear some nice clothes in the summer .

Doing well TW. I have lost a little bit more weight too and am 2.5lbs away from a significant goal... can I lose this by Saturday? I'm certainly trying!

For another loss this week, I would not have bread twice in a day... you're having it for both breakfast and lunch... could you swap your breakfast for something else? This would probably give you a jolt to another decent loss this week.

5lbs is amazing though...well done

travellingwilbury · 12/03/2012 12:39

Thanks Shiney , good point about the bread , maybe cereal instead then .

2.5 pounds by saturday ? Easy peasey says I . I do think that is a lot to lose in a week after doing the diet thing for a while though , that's why I like the first couple of weeks when you lose a good amount . I get a bit bored when it is only a pound or so lost but I know what a pound of lard looks like on a plate and I will be glad to get rid of anything now .

Two stone by July is doable isn't it ? 3 stone would be brilliant but I think 2 is more achievable .

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 12/03/2012 13:17

Nah - cereal is the same thing you nutter Grin

I would try yogurt plus fruit or cubes of feta plus fruit or grilled sausages with mushrooms. Lower carb.

Two stone by July is easy pips. I have lost just over two stone since 21st January - so less than two months. However, I have gone fairly hardcore but have never been 'starving' at any time or anything! I am currently a size 12-14 and would love to be a comfortable size 12 I think.

If you only eat three times a day and try not to snack in between along with cutting out bread/pasta/noodles/rice/wraps then you can lose the two stone by about June time.

travellingwilbury · 12/03/2012 14:19

Feta for breakfast Shock That is just wrong .

Yoghurt and bloody fruit it is then .

The thing I need to really do something about is getting off my ample arse as well and moving about . I have got zumba on the wii which I know makes me look a prat but it does make me hot and sweaty and knackered so will get that out again as well .

I am going to save some money so I can buy new clothes as well , being able to spend money on cool clothes should keep me going I reckon .

Thanks by the way , everyone else has buggered off and left me talking to myself Grin Sods !

shinecrazydiamond · 12/03/2012 16:12

Oh I can talk about this until the cows come home - I need the motivation.

I think you need a shorter term goal - something very specific but highly achievable. Maybe 7lbs off by the end of March? I will join you in this... i think it's relatively easy but requires some effort as well.

Feta and slices of watermelon is v nice in the morning! Honest...

travellingwilbury · 12/03/2012 16:50

Ok , so 7 pounds off in a couple of weeks sounds do able , so including the 5 I reckon I have already lost that will be 12 . Now that would make me a happy bunny .

And no you will not convince me about the feta breakfast thing Grin

Maybe bacon and egg , or an omelette is always good .

Roast chicken and salad tonight , we don't normally eat until after 8 but I am going to start having mine earlier which will stop me wanting snacks at this time of day and also going to bed full of food .

I am currently starving. Unusual really.

I've had...

Breakfast - fat free natural yogurt, chopped strawberries, black grapes, handful of rolled oats

Lunch - stir fried sugar snaps, red pepper and mushrooms with quorn slices and a spoonful of light philadelphia.

So around 600 odd calories I suppose. I've just had a herbal tea to try and distract me. I may go and tidy upstairs and hoover.

Tea will be half a pot of mushroom soup.

Told you I was hardcore Grin

Omelette is v good for filling you up

travellingwilbury · 12/03/2012 16:59

No wonder you are bloody starving , that is hardcore . But it is working .

I have had my lovely peanut butter on toast , bowl of soup with toast and a yoghurt . Then my dinner about half six .

Do you do mad exercise stuff as well ?

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 12/03/2012 17:05

No exercise. If you go hardcore there is no need. Last year I was more moderate and had a personal trainer and was in the gym every day - but ate 1500 calories a day. [ And I was 4 stone heavier this time last year - am currently 10 stone mumble mumble >

This time I plan to lose maybe a few more lbs... 7/14 would be good.

I do love peanut butter a lot. It's a weakness of mine. Along with cake.

travellingwilbury · 12/03/2012 17:11

Wow , you have lost 4 stone , that is pretty impressive , you see I would be delighted to be 10 stone anything , I am actually comfy at 11 stone which I know for a lot of people is far too heavy but I feel good at that weight . But I am aiming for 10 1/2 and then I have a wee bit of leeway .

I think I am better off doing the exercise and eating a bit more tbh , I know I won't keep it up if I am cutting out too much and then I will give up .

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 12/03/2012 17:15

I am quite happy at 11 stone something as well really... yes, it may be a little overweight but I am a size 14 at that weight and feel and look fine.

travellingwilbury · 14/03/2012 07:18

Well today is weigh in day and I have lost half a stone Grin

I am a very happy bunny , so another five pounds off by the end of the month and my first goal will be done .

This week is going to be trickier , it is my DHs birthday and it is a big one , we have a couple of things going on so damage limitation on those days and really going for it on the other days .

Wish me luck Grin

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 14/03/2012 10:34

TW - My top tip would be an avoidance of carbs as far as is possible... so, if you're having a meal out, no bread, no pasta dish...maybe chicken or steak with veg...that kind of thing?

half a stone is a loss and the other 5lbs will be well and truly gone by the end of the month too...

shinecrazydiamond · 14/03/2012 10:35

I bought a lovely dress today...size 12, which made me v happy.

In other news, the size 12 jeans I tried on ...well, couldn't breathe or move in them

travellingwilbury · 14/03/2012 14:00

Well done you , ignore the jeans they are obviously made badly .

Another good day so far , I watched that biggest loser rubbish last night and got even more motivated .

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 19/03/2012 09:03

Right I have survived the birthday celebrations and I haven't lost any more weight but I also haven't put any on , so to me that is a success . We went out to an I talian restaraunt one night , curry another and plenty of wine .

But I did stick to the no carbs after 2 thing on the whole and I am back to full strength today .

Zumba soon and then breakfast .

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 21/03/2012 07:45

Second weigh in today and I have lost another 2 pounds Grin

I am happy with that as the weekend was a bit of a right off really . I have been back on track since monday and toikeep on target I am aiming at 3 pounds off next week .

I know I am mostly talking to myself here but it is helping anyway so I will continue with my waffling Wink

I am back at work today so excercise will be limited but I am off on Friday and over the weekendf so will make up for it then .

I am on a mission !

Can either of you very knowledgable ladies help with a low carb novice?
My diet is very carb intensive and this us why I can not lose weight. I am doing the shred and have already noticed a reduction in stomach size but I haven't lost a pound.
When you do eat carbs, are there bad and good ones?
Thank you Smile
