Has anyone ever lost weight on citalopram and kept it off?

Done ww twice, does work however then piles back on without me eating loads of choc. Have quite a healthy diet. Citalopram has made me approx 1 1/2 stone heavier than I was. Been on it long term (4yrs) after severe pnd and anxiety after ds born. got to gym but would love to know a solution to the weight gain problem!!

I've lost almost 3.5 stone on Citalopram with very little effort by low carbing, I don't see myself putting it back on since I see no reason why I'd go back to eating the way I used to.

thats interesting - my doc advised against carb cutting due to seratonin link. Felt ill on ww when cut carbs, light headed and more down.. Did you diet yourself or use a club? thanks

My depression and anxiety have gotten a lot better since I started low carbing. I was on the verge of asking my doctor to increase my dose when I started and a couple of months later I had to go on 10mg because I was bouncing off the walls on 20mg. If you were cutting carbs on WW I'm guessing that you were pretty low fat too? You really need to up your fat when you low carb or you'll feel awful.

I've dieted by myself using myfitnesspal.com to track my food intake. I'm also on the low carb and myfitnesspal threads on here which have been great for support.

hate to say but citalopram had opposite effect on me and had little appetitie. maybe you need to change to something else? but agree, low carbing way to go imho, curbs cravings, stabilises blood sugar etc, fill up with protein.

too scared to change, I have had so many side effects its terrifying! Believe it or not do not have cravings or eat loads just seem to retain weight but probably low carbing would help. I think the low fat and low carbs thing must have been too much for me before. Thanks :)

I am on Citalopram, when I started I didn't eat for a while-no appetite. It's back now and I am probably eating too much. But does Citalopram in itself cause weight gain?
