Morning folks and welcome weenwee

Hello again TP, glad you are maintaining your loss, and well done Belina on your first loss. Hope you enjoyed your special night!

For those needing for a motivational boost (Vicky? putyourhaton?), I have found that giving up items for lent (in my case chocolate, crisps, cake and biscuits) has worked really well for me this week to give my diet a kick start - just something new to focus on I guess.

I put on a size 16 skirt yesterday and it was falling off me - I had to go and get changed!!

It's my mum's 70th birthday today and my DH has made a delicious chocolate cake but I am determined to resist - wish me luck!

Fairenuff · 25/02/2012 11:44

Ooh good luck with the resisting mrspp Grin. I know the saying, a moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips, is an old one but so true. In the past I have always regretted it when I get on the scales. I always think, I wish I hadn't had that . I never think, I'm glad I had that pizza four days ago. What I'm trying to say is, resisting is worth it, you will feel really good about yourself Smile.

Well done on all those needing smaller size clothes, feels great doesn't it. Nothing beats that feeling - not cake, or chocolate or crisps or biscuits or sex Grin.

weenwee your diet sounds a bit like mine. Except I do have weight watchers brown bread, brown rice, and wholewheat pasta. Also, very low fat milk, yoghurt and dairylea triangles instead of butter. I have all meat as long as it's lean or very lean, and fish. I only use very low fat sauces (usually tomato based) and all the salads and fruit and veg. Oh, and sometimes I have baby new potatoes or jacket/mash white potato. So . . . not really like yours then, after all Confused Grin. Blimey, I thought my diet was quite restrictive but yours is a tiny choice. Will you start adding to it after the olympics?

Have a good weekend everyone, stay strong, stay positive, and get out there! Smile

weenwee · 25/02/2012 15:42

fairenuff, no, it's quite broad when you think about it. All the veggies and fruit you like, all the meat you like, all the nuts, berries, etc you like. Just not stuff that your body will immediately take in, turn into a sugar high, and immediately crash.

For lunch, I had a pretty piece of salmon that I steamed in a marinade of lemon juice, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes, with a lovely salad of rocket, boiled eggs, cucumbers, and fresh bacon! Nothing tiny choiced about that! :D

Vicky08 · 25/02/2012 19:03

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good weekend.

Yesterday I fell off the wagon a bit, I had far too much bread and some chocolates someone brought into work but back on it today.

When I started healthy eating I was a size 18 and today I bought myself a pair of 14 trousers. OK they're probably a big 14 but still a 14!! So happy :)

It's true lately I had been loosing motivation and slipping back into my old ways but seeing my size 18 trousers hang off me has definitly got me back on the right track.

mrspepperpotty I've given up crisps and chocolate (from today Blush ) for lent. Hope I can stick to it.

BelinaTheChicken · 25/02/2012 20:14

Vicky that's a great loss, don't worry about falling off, sometimes you just need it

Oh my word the hotel was amazing but really was out to ruin my healthy eating. Got into room and there were 4 truffles on a plate, and DH doesn't eat truffles. And from then on it was all down hill (calorie wise, not taste wise!). And I drunk a whole bottle of wine plus a glass of pink champagne. Bleaurgh. Then had cooked breakfast and pretty much just continued to eat shit all day.

Totally worth it though! Very nice to have some time with just DH, and a decent night sleep (though woke up at 5 with close to exploding boobs).

Not lookig forward to weighing in on Monday, will have to be extra good tomorrow

putyourhatonsweetie · 25/02/2012 22:17

Morning all

Oh Belina that sounds lovely, how special for you and dh.

Vicky, congratulations on the clothes, it is a very lovely feeling indeed.

Thank you for thinking of me mrspp I have had a really rough couple of weeks, when stuff is hard my default position is to eat and to be fair I haven't done that this time - but I have lost the spring in my step that was making the diet healthy weight loss very easy Had a long chat with dh last night and have a plan though so feel like I should be able to take control again. RE: Lent. I have run out of things to give up! But think from today I am going to exercise every day until Easter.

Today was my weigh in and despite having apretty poor week have still had a small loss of 0.4kg - taking me to an overall loss of 7.8. I honestly cannot remember the last time I weighed this Grin.

Good luck for all the weigh ins on Monday.

Fairenuff · 25/02/2012 23:41

Well done everyone, looks like we are all starting to see results of some kind Smile.

Belina sounds lovely, just lovely and you deserve the treat. I wouldn't worry too much about wi, if you gain you can get it off next week. Don't let it spoil your weekend. Did you have a hangover? Grin

weenwee your meal sounds lovely, you seem to be quite a creative cook Smile.

I think I will have a look for a good pedometer tomorrow and I will take up walking for lent. I'll start off aiming for 10,000 steps a day and see how I go.

putyourhatonsweetie · 26/02/2012 03:11

a pedometer sounds like a great idea, do pass on any recs. x

Flojo1979 · 26/02/2012 13:18

Me too, i think i'll try the pedometer.
I am well and truelly off the wagon. Just can't seem to find the kick to get me back on and tbh everyone's successes are now making me feel hopeless and turning me to food more.
Back to work tomorrow after the wk of dd chicken pox and close proximity to the kitchen so I'm hoping I can get back in to routine and get back on the wagon b4 its too late.

Fairenuff · 26/02/2012 16:16

There are still about 6 weeks til Easter, we could all lose another half a stone by then easily. I'm going to stick to my diet, then on Easter Sunday I will have a full roast dinner with roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese, dessert and some chocolate and a couple of glasses of wine. It will be a reward for all the resisting. I am looking forward to it. But in the meantime I will keep chipping away because it's working.

The greatest motivation you will find is seeing the results of all your hard work. There is nothing so motivating as starting to achieve what you wanted. You just have to keep that at the front of your mind and once the weight starts going down it will spur you on.

I bought a Reebok pedometer from Argos and it's ok but quite tricky to programme. I found the weight watchers one I used to have much more user friendly. This one measures steps, distance, calories & fat and is suitable for walking or jogging. All I need is a step counter to start with but it's nice to have extras Smile.

SparkySparrow · 26/02/2012 16:54

Ok I have had a terrible weekend food wise Dh bought me a bottle of wine bastard which led to me jumping quite happily off the wagon and running for the hills. Today is/was also a disaster :(

Today was the first day (due to the lovely sunshine) I could take my coat off outside. I felt really self conscious and uncomfortable. I just kept thinking that people were looking at me for the wrong reasons. :(

Flojo Do you want to join me in climbing back on the stupid wagon tomorrow? I'm going to draw a line under this weekend and start a fresh tomorrow! Tomorrow I am going to go through the cupboards and chuck out the bad stuff which seems to be sneaking back in even though I haven't bought anything and do a meal plan for the week. Hopefully that should help!

I have a pedometer somewhere, maybe I should dig mine out too and aim for the recommended 10,000 steps. I do a lot of walking anyway so it will be interesting to see if I have to put in any extra to reach it.

I am going to hang up a pair of jeans I bought in the summer in my bedroom so I can see them everyday! They are a NEXT size 12 (so a proper 12) . At the moment I can't get them over my fat behind Blush .

I will be in them by my birthday (end of April) .

Well done everyone!

Flojo1979 · 26/02/2012 21:35

sparky that would be great. I need to sit down and do a meal plan too, was supposed to do one b4 tomorrow but still not. I'm at work all day and new fella, who's just got back from hols, is coming over in the eve for a brew n catch up so that should distract me away from the kitchen tomorrow.
Any simply low cal recipes anyone want to share, i seem to be doing the same WW ones and a lil bored of them. I must find time to sit down and go thro recipe books instead of sitting on my fat arse watching telly and eating crisps

Flojo1979 · 26/02/2012 21:39

Forgot to mention sparky I also have size 12 jeans, that I was in 12 months ago, then I just spent the last yr munching my way to a size 16. I've had to give in n buy some size 16 stuff but I don't want to replace my entire wardrobe, I'm aiming to get back in to my size 12s for summer.

SparkySparrow · 26/02/2012 21:43

Flojo I'm thinking about getting back on ww. I need something solid to stick too at the mo.

Have you tried going back to basics with recipes? Or changing mince to quorn? that knocks the cals right down.

OP posts:
putyourhatonsweetie · 26/02/2012 22:55

will join you back on that wagon...have been okay but need a kick to start enjoying it again - come on losers!

BelinaTheChicken · 27/02/2012 00:14

I like the pedometer idea, think I'll set myself a 10000 step challenge too, shouldn't be too hard tomorrow as DH is stealing my car tomorrow and I have to walk DS to nursery, which is a 3 mile round trip, and, according to google, it is 2000 for every mile, so with the general running around the rest of the day I should make it. Can't say the same for a normal day though!

I'll be back on the wagon tomorrow, today was better but DH invited people round for a roast, managed to fill up on veggies and chicken, avoided the potatoes but did have a Yorkshire pud as DH makes the best ones ever... Soup tomorrow for sure.

Flojo and Sparky I have a pair of jeans that are my target for the end of April too, they aren't that far off fitting, but it's the overhang that depresses me (although some is saggy stretch marked skin that will probably always overhang Sad ). It's my lovely pre baby jeans that I'd be thrilled to fit back into, aiming for those by July

also have jeans from university days that will never ever fit but can't quite admit defeat

Good luck for weigh in!

Fairenuff · 27/02/2012 08:24

My dd wears some of my old clothes from when I was 17. I have no hope of getting in them again but she likes them because they are genuine vintage Hmm Grin.

I'm wearing my pedometer to work today. I have a treadmill which I will dust off Blush and if I don't meet my 10,000 at work I will do the extras in the evening. Well, that's the plan anyway.

Have a fab day everyone. Remember, today is an Opportunity to Lose day. Make the most of it Smile.

Vicky08 · 27/02/2012 09:58

Hi everyone. I've had a terrible weekend eating wise. I've realised that if I want to loose weight properly I'm going to have to give up bread, I'm just eating too much of it. So I'll give it up for lent and see how that goes.

Today I've had porridge for breakfast so so far so good.

I also like the pedometer idea. Was just thinking that I really need to work out an exercise plan for the week and stick to it.

I have a lovely dress that I'd like to wear at Easter, at the moment the gap between the two edges of the zip is quite big so that'll give me motivation if I could wear that.

I'm a size 16 at the moment and would like to be a 10/12 by the summer.

SparkySparrow · 27/02/2012 10:12

Vicky I have to give up bread to to lose. If I eat bread I seem to just maintain on a good week, gain on a bad week. I always lose if I haven't had any. Once you find substitutes for things it gets easier. Crackers, Ryvitas, Wraps etc. Good luck!

Just had porridge for breakfast, and walked ds to nursery. Don't feel quite as enthusiastic today for some reason :(

OP posts:
BelinaTheChicken · 27/02/2012 10:26

Fairenuff I have two DSs, don't think they're going to be wanting to wear my old clothes, so I don't even have that excuse.

Thought i had a pedometer, but can't find it Sad. I have an app on my phone, but it's been on charge all morning so haven't had it, on me, must have done at least 9900 since getting up, so can sit on my arse all day, yes? Grin Actually might have to as I've got my course this evening and haven't finished my essay yet.

Vicky I probably should give up bread too, but I'm too scared to, I rely on it a bit too much for when I'm in a rush (which is always). What is your dress like? I've started looking for a dress for wedding in June, need inspiration!

Just weighed myself and i've lost 2lb this week! No idea how as I've not been good this week food wise, but have done quite a bit of walking and worked in the garden all day yesterday, so that probably sweated it out. I do fluctuate a lot in weight though, so will probably be really good this week and weigh more as a result. Have decided to believe my scales, but have lowered my goal weight a bit just in case. Still have about a stone to go, but setting a mini goal of losing 7lb by Easter

Vicky08 · 27/02/2012 15:34

Today so far so good. Porridge for breakfast and chicken and brown rice for lunch and no bread! I have to do it, I eat far too much of the stuff, I think it'll really help my weight loss. I'll not eat it during lent and see what happens.

I've also went out and got a pedometre today so I'm def going to use it to measure steps, distance and calories burnt.

Well done Belina on the weight loss this week. What are you studying?

Vicky08 · 27/02/2012 15:35

I like the goal of loosing 7lb by Easter, I'll def go for that :)

Fairenuff · 27/02/2012 16:27

So far today I've done 10,723 steps but I did have PE and playground duty. I lost 1.5lb this week Smile.

Vicky08 · 27/02/2012 16:28

Well done Fairenuff

SparkySparrow · 27/02/2012 16:45

Well done Fairenuff

No loss for me this week but I'm not surprised after the weekend.

I'm getting by ok today but for some reason I feel really down. My willpower is taking a kicking! All I want to do is run to the shop and get loads of crap :(

Going to go and take my make up off and get into scruffy clothes. I will not go out looking like that!
