The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions.
The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us. We are friendly, supportive and successful but we're not hungry!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Hi all, just waving hello. 2 days in and can't believe how easy this is, such a simple common sense idea, stop eating when you're full (doh). I have 3 stone to lose and my mantra is 'I want to look good in a size 12 bikini'. Is that feasible by mid august?

you all seem to be doing so well, congratulations :)

MsIngaFewmarbles · 27/03/2012 17:14

Hello to fellow newbie Wrinkly, same weight as you just an inch shorter :(

OrmIrian · 27/03/2012 17:15

Hello all.

Started listening again last night after a long break since before christmas. Back on my ADs now because of finding myself in a horrible dark place in the NY so I will have to be more careful than befrore not to pile on the pounds. Also doing the couch to 5k program to get back into running in an acheivable manner.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/03/2012 17:46

I have just eaten some lovely roasted veg and breadsticks, yum yum yum. There are 2 chocolate cakes in my fridge which remain untouched...

MsIngaFewmarbles · 27/03/2012 17:48

Hi Orm, did we meet at a city farm and youu kindly bought snacks for my DC as I didn't have cash on me? Or am I thinking of someone completely different?

Solo · 27/03/2012 17:50

Thanks Ali. I did think about pretending it was boeuf Wink, but no, pork is much cheaper...

Welcome MsInga Love the name! Grin you are definitely in the right place to lose weight. Three stones is not insurmountable in 18/19 weeks, but you'll need to get right into the whole thing. I want to lose at least a stone in that time, so come on and encourage me along too please :)

Orm, nice to see you again. Sorry you've been so low...hope it isn't too ,long before you are feeling much more yourself.

Got Dd sitting on the sofa, bowl in hand as she feels sick (again!!!!). Getting fed up with her continuous ills.

Yes I can vouch for the fact that Solo will stalk you across the boards and hound you send lovely supportive PMs if you lapse. Seriously though, one of the things I like about Pauling is that you don't have to be hard on yourself if you lapse - you just start again. If I lapse on a normal diet, I tend to think "what the heck" and reach for whatever crap I can find to eat in rebellion.

Having said that, I went through a phase last week of feeling really angry with myself for not really successfully getting my head around this. I do remember at the seminar he said that the success rate was around 70 or 80%, but that the long term success rate of traditional diets was 10 or 15% iirc. I just hope I'm not doomed to be one of those who don't manage to do it.

Ali I had to train myself to like olives but adore them now.

NotANaturalGeordie · 27/03/2012 20:14

Hello

I have thrown my WW stuff away in favour of Paul's advice. Please keep your fingers crossed, as I hope to be an example to DH as well (I need to lose about 1 1/2 stone, he needs to lose about 4 stone).

After the first two weeks, how often do you (honestly) weigh yourselves? What does Paul recommend?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/03/2012 20:40

Hello Geordie - you won't regret it, I promise!

I weigh myself most days, to be entirely honest. I find it keeps my mind focused.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 27/03/2012 21:10

Welcome Geordie! Yes as an ex WW lady, you won't regret it. We don't need to cross our fingers. We will be far more proactive and support you! Your goal is totally achieveable. I didn't weigh myself at all and had a glorious 5lb loss.
Health update - I've had a CT scan and I'm expecting a medical review in the morning and to be honest I'm praying there were kidney stones there so I can get treated! This is no fun!

Winkly · 27/03/2012 21:37

Can I ask a question? What if I get hungry and can't eat, or at least there's nothing that I would enjoy? For example if I get called out of the office at work.

I'm also a little scared of only eating when hungry. What if other people are eating nice ice cream? Will I learn to not mind not joining in?

These two points may give some insight into why I'm overweight actually.

amistillsexy · 27/03/2012 22:07

Hi All!
I've been finding all this very easy (maybe too easy ? [unsure] ), and I've been craving healthy foods. I've always eaten healthily, but at the mo I'm in overdrive Grin .
I'm having a delish oatmeal/yoghurt breakfast that I mix the night before, then add banana and pollen grains to. Today's was so good I had it for lunch as well!
It might be the healthy eating, but I'm starting to feel like I've got more energy. For years I've got to tea time and felt like collapsing, but this week I've been able to keep going and actually enjoyed bath & story time! Has anyone else found this?

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 27/03/2012 22:19

Hi am - we've met on other threads but I've been too doped up been too busy to say hi specifically on here I used to be Phoenix from the flames
I found initially I ate junk simply because I had permission! Then it settled and I chose a more balanced diet naturally. It seems easy because it is!
winkly you should be eating as close to the hunger point Paul identifies on the scale as possible. A little while won't be much of a problem but avoid getting ravenous. You can't always predict what you'll want but I take a range of snacks to work with me and pick what I fancy. I usually want the sarnie I've made the night before because I chose food I know I'll enjoy!
Re eating with others - if you have hunger, go for it. Over time, if you're not hungry, 'missing out' won't bother you because you know you don't need to eat. It goes against the grain to start, but after a while you realise this is how you're naturally supposed to eat!

Solo · 27/03/2012 22:50

And to add to Faiths points, water is your best friend. It can help you realise where your hunger is and it can often temporarily tame your hunger until you have the opportunity to eat. Hot chocolate is also a filler without eating too if you can't get food stuffs or it's not quite ready/you want to sit with the family/friends etc to eat :)

Geordie well done for throwing that rubbish away :)

CalamityKate · 28/03/2012 09:26

tell me about your yoghurt/oatmeal concoction? At the risk of sounding thick, is that what it is - just yog (I assume plain?) and oatmeal? As in porridge oats? Or is oatmeal a different thing?

And what are pollen grains, where do you get them, what do they taste like and are they good for you?

Thanks! Grin

ppeatfruit · 28/03/2012 10:22

Well you lot 've been busy haven't you Smile WELCOME winkly Ref. snax; I always take a pot of macadamias, or walnuts (they're chewy) and dried fruit and an apple or whatever when I go out plus a small bottle of water.

EXel the way of eating I follow is based on my blood type (we all are different) e.g. O types SHOULD eat meat (not pork though )Grin Solo!!!! and A types can eat some fish and chicken but not red meat at all. Ref. olives although I LOVE olive oil and use it for everything I CANNOT eat olives it's the vile vinegar and briny stuff they soak them in they give me spotty eczema!

Calam IMO TRUSTING yr body is the most important thing to do!! So only eat when you're properly hungry.

ppeatfruit · 28/03/2012 10:27

OMIRIAN!!!! Welcome back!! D'ye know the blood type can help with ALL types of illness!

Solo your DD could be intolerant to wheat; it makes DH feel sick, is she actually throwing up or just feeling sick IFYKWIM or maybe there's a problem at school?

Solo · 28/03/2012 10:55

Pp she wasn't actually sick, but was still complaining of feeling sick as I packed her off to school. She was sick at a party on Saturday, but I think it was caused by her drinking too much and then playing, running around again directly after the food part of the day...in general, she eats very little wheat products; has rice pops and strawberry yoghurt for breakfasts, school dinners and a proper dinner for tea, so I think it's unlikely that it's that tbh. She loves school and is happy enough so I don't think it's that either
