I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

Hope it goes well Five, i off to a Quiz Night where there will be nibbles :( but i driving so no booze

notveryinventive · 11/01/2012 20:25

Hi everyone.

Apparently according to food focus Ive had a good day today, but I dont think I have Confused. I have eaten:

-Banana
-Muller light yoghurt (vanilla)
-Hot Chocolate (not a healthy one, but a bad for you aero bubbles one)
-Ham and Cheese Panini, home-made Coleslaw, a handful of crisps and a can of full fat Pepsi for lunch
-An Apple
-Tagliatelle Carbonara with Chicken and Bacon in and a can of Coke Zero

Apparently I am 200 cals less than my goal on Food Focus, but I really cant see how when Ive had such a naughty lunch and tea.

Anyway really hope my Shred DVD comes tomorrow. It was dispatched on Monday so it should really [excited emotion] Though Im annoyed with myself for not checking, but I could have got it from Lovefilm. It was only £4.99 so not too bad anyway.

fivegomadindorset · 11/01/2012 21:05

Well that was interesting.

Sitting here with a glass of wine trying to absorb all the information.

Today has been OK

One slice of toast and low fat spread and marmite
Bread sticks
Left over cauliflower cheese
2 apples
2 fishcakes and salad.

Been out for lunch twice this week! Tried to do healthy options,

Am struggling to find the time to exercise, i leave the house for work at 7.30 and get home for 6.30! With a baby not sleeping through the night, im exhausted, so ATM, its only weekends.

I want to be a size 6. I want to be a size 6. I shall repeat this to myself anytime i feel the need to eat something that isn't an apple!

I'm very very short, so at a size 6, i wouldnt look too skinny, just the right weight for me - says weight watchers!

StealthPolarBear · 11/01/2012 21:55

What's up five?

Size six Kate? Shock

I stay in a travel lodge on Tuedays, was so good and made all my meals in advance, sandwiches for the lunchtime and the rice and bean thing for Tue night. Then I left them in the fridge at home :( Luckily there's a waitrose nearby and I managed to get some yummy stuff which eas quite low cal and I managed to resist the cake and biscuit aisle (the prices helped a bit).
Ignored sandwiches for breakfast and lunch tomorrow then a quorn dinner. Hopefully I will have lost some weight

Hi Kate! And glad your dad is getting better Five.

I am finding things a bit hard going at the moment, very tired as DD has been sleeping badly the last few nights and I was up late too trying to get everything done. And today with the DCs has been very long and hard work, which always makes me eat (and drink!) more.

I suppose so far today I have not been TOO bad. Had crumpets with a tiny bit of jam for breakfast (they needed using up), and we went out for lunch for a change, so had a mushroom and cheese panini and a small cake at the coffee shop - though only after looking up which things had least points in!

Just cooked a totally gorgeous tea though which was fairly healthy too and I'd recommend it! Quorn and green bean biryani, made with Sharwoods' coconut and curry leaf biryani sauce. The only difficulty was not having too much as it was reeeally tasty. Think I will try using quorn more, it has very few points and is good in stuff like that as it soaks up the flavours.

I am going to do my Shred in a moment, so with the points from that I won't have been too bad (though really want a glass of wine later...). But I am still trying to make up for my macadamia binge from the other day, so I will try to have some points left over...

fivegomadindorset · 11/01/2012 21:57

Slimming world, not sure if it is every group but this one is very happy clappy and he goes through everyone individually about loss gain etc, which I am not very comfortable with but hey o. Just need some time to process the information although this week is going to be difficult as we have friends down.

what is this size 6 I hear about, a 14 would be food enough for me.

Well done Stealth although may I ask why the Travelodge?

StealthPolarBear · 11/01/2012 22:02

ooh yes that does sound a bit full on!
I have a job in a city about 2 hrs away, I'm only in the office 2 days so I just stay over and make them very long days (was there until 10 on Tuesday and got in before 7 this morning, helps to reduce the opportunity to eat!).
I saw a nice recipe in a free magazine I picked up, like a stir fry but raw (so salad Hmm) and I bet it's pretty much calorie free. Will post it here and try it myself as soon as I get to the shops.

momnipotent · 11/01/2012 22:45

Kate, size six?! You go, girl!

five, I would not be happy with my loss/gain announced to everyone at all!

The first WW group I joined was good, but I think I liked it because I never stayed for the meetings! I showed up, weighed in and left. And was successful.

Subsequent to that I've joined two different WW meetings and stayed for the meeting bit and not enjoyed it at all (and also not successful). The meetings were run by older women that I just couldn't relate to at all. They would talk about how they had planned their meals out and they don't have temptation in the house at all, go golfing in the day, etc. And there's harried me trying to feed 6 people every night, all willing to eat different things, there IS temptation in my house just by virtue of having kids and time for exercise seems non-existent.

That said, I looked into the local WW meetings here the other day but I couldn't fit any into my schedule, and I already know that the online version isn't motivating enough.

Ha ha at Stealth leaving pre-prepared food in the fridge at home. Not like I've ever done that AT ALL!

I cannot seem to get myself into the right mind set at all. So frustrating.

StealthPolarBear · 12/01/2012 08:38

I have lost 1lb since Saturday. Not too bad, given I had a dominos!

hi!
mabs well done on the loss of body fat! Im betting you're converting it to muscle!

mom ive never done a detox as i know i'd give up, however nearly 2 weeks in and im not having that choclate and crisp craving as much anymore. Im ashamed to say i could 2 bars of choclate or more ina day Blush now if i want chocolate i get one of those childrens small diary milk bar instead of a giant bar!

Welcome kate!! id love to be a six but i will settle for a 10!

slimmingclubs i have been to both ww and sw. They did seem to be predominantly older ladies who would just sit and moan. One woman claimed she lived on cabbage, just cooked cabbage, for everyday lunch and couldnt understand why she wasnt losing weight...EVERY WEEK she did this, i always made sure i was sat on the opposite side of the circle to her parp

Ive not been too bad have walked the 3 miles to nursery then work for the past 3 days and have been good not using the extra cals and have been slightly under by about 50 cals most days. Did a mid week weigh in yesterday and have lost another 2lbs since sunday!

I am however struggling today as im desperate and i mean desperate for a mcdonalds, im trying to decide whether to have one so im not depriving myself and then end up eventually binging or to not have one? Im trying to convince myself that since ive been under cals and have extra from exercising one wont hurt!

HELP!

notveryinventive · 12/01/2012 11:37

Hi everyone.

My Shred DVD came today yey!!!!

Going to be a good day today I know it :) Already had a healthy breakfast of banana and Yoghurt. Going to have soup for lunch and a jacket potato for tea. I also bought apples yesterday for my afternoon snack so I may treat myself to my cherry coke Ive had in the fridge since last week.

lydia If you want a Maccy D's have one. Just dont go mad and get a large meals. Will a kids meal satisfy your craving? Just get a cheeseburger and small fries at the most. Having said that I went to Burger King the other day and had a whopper meal and tomorrow we are having Pizza Hut for lunch (I have an excuse though as we have an envelope to open and it could be kinect, but we have to go there to do it). If you are craving something I believe you should do it otherwise you may like you said deprive yourself and then binge on it.

StaceymAloneForver · 12/01/2012 11:53

Hi people, i am new, i'm not trying to lose weight as such but, my fiancee has decided we are getting married in Las Vegas during feb half term (a month away) and i need to lose 2 inches from my chest/waist, to fit in my dress eeeeek

would be nice for moral support to stop me binging

I am currently a size 12, and 5' 4 1/2" my chest meausres 32" and waist 31"

I go to zumba 3 nights a week, but must stop eating (and drinking) so much!!

momnipotent · 12/01/2012 12:03

lydia, I agree with notvery, have the McD's and minimize damage as much as possible.

I wish I could follow my own advice. Grin

Sounds like it could be a fun day for you notvery! Have loads of Jillian DVDs downstairs, I really should use them.

Congrats Stacey on your plans! So you already have a dress then?

Evilwater · 12/01/2012 12:09

Can I join please?
I'm hoping to lose weight for ttc. I'm doing the five a day, and no eating carbs after 6. I've also got a veg box from riverford veg and it's fantastic.

I'd like to lose 1 stone. As that will be my perfect weight for baby making.

StaceymAloneForver · 12/01/2012 12:13

it's a lovely dress, not strictly a wedding dress but as this is second time round and a Vegas wedding it will be perfect, ivory coloured and lovely, had it for ages, just not quite managed to fit in it yet :( May have done when i lost loads of weight last year but did'nt try it on then.

now i'm just 2 inches off, so close and yet so far!

StealthPolarBear · 12/01/2012 12:24

Congratulations stacey and welcome evil!

lydiathetattooedlady · 12/01/2012 13:41

I was good and resisted the temptation! I looked at the hideous xmas photos of myself and thought, 'do i want to have a better loss on sunday or do i want a few moments of enjoying a mcdonalds', and the loss won! I am however going to upgrade my dairy milk child size bar for a proper one today! I always crave chocolate after mcdonalds and i really don't want to have had both so i thought id cut out the middle man!

welcome evil and stacey and congratulations also x

MABS · 12/01/2012 13:56

congrats Stacey, that's a great incentive :) Bear with Slimmingworld for a few weeks Five then make your mind up i reckon.

Ate potato skins with cheese last night, and i don't even really like em! others were drinking so i just ate :(

Full english today for brek with mate :( trainer coming at 4 though.

StealthPolarBear · 12/01/2012 14:11

Well done lydia and I agree with treating yourself

OP posts:
momnipotent · 12/01/2012 14:29

Welcome evil and well done lydia!

I need a huge kick in the arse motivation-wise. i don't know what's wrong with me! Every night I lie in bed and I'm fed up with myself, make all kinds of plans about how the next day will be different, I have a meal plan written out, I have most of the food already made. So why am I not sticking with any of it?!

fivegomadindorset · 12/01/2012 15:45

Hello all.

Welcome Evil and well resisted Lydia.

Half day today so home early for a change, I have butternut squash and red onions roasting to make a free soup and going to make a kale and mushroom lasagne for supper which apart from the small amount of butter and the skimmed milk is also free, I will keep at it as I think it will work well for me although it will curtail my drinking which can only be a good thing.

MABS · 12/01/2012 17:21

sounds good five :) again i hurt!! spin tomorrow am

TheLightPassenger · 12/01/2012 18:06

Hello again. I lost 3lb this week, but no loss so far at midweek weigh in today, GAH. Have been calorie counting and doing 1 hour of exercise most days as well

well done re:personal trainer and losing fat, mabs

lydia - McDonalds does have some decent lower fat/calorie options, if you can avoid the chips, and just have a chicken burger with coffee, or one of the deli wraps.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 12/01/2012 23:43

Hi Evil and anyone else new that I've missed! And well done mabs and lydia.

I have been OK today, shredded again and stayed within my points allowance after exercise (I am using my weekly points though, usually spread across the week). I did bump my points up to 29 in the end and this has definitely made it easier to stick to and with less frustration/ overeating if I accidentally eat something high in points. The downside I suppose is I might not lose as fast.

Haven't lost much weight yet, but as I have been doing quite a lot of exercise (including shred which has definitely made my arms a bit musclier already) I think I may have lost some fat and gained some muscle - hope so anyway! Also AF is on its way so I might be a bit bloated.

DH has been winding me up a bit, he is also doing WW (because it was free) but is currently lighter than me anyway Blush and has very little to lose, and he gets way more points than me because of being a bloke and because he does loads of biking to work (which I can't easily). He was going on about how he hasn't used any of his weekly points yet, grrrrrrr! Half wish I hadn't told him about it, but realistically it would have been impossible to keep it quiet for long...
