I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

Well done Stealth, breathing's over rated anyway.

So first weigh in and I have lost 1 measly lb. Sad I have averaged 1350 calories a day so I know that it's the fact that I have done no walking/trampolining/wii'ing. I have however started with a cold, dd got it, then dh, so really I stood no chance. I'm typing this through streaming eyes and inbetwen sneezes and sniffling, so no exercise at the moment.

Anyhow, I had a dream last night in which dh, mum and I were going to the chippy, i went in and on the counter was a plate of fish and chips, while I was waiting I ate the fish, then thought that I couldn't tell dh that I had already eaten so I ordered myself another fish, then left with our three portions of fish and chips. We dropped mum at home but kept her food with us so when we got home I ate my fish and her fish. Three fish in batter!!! Shock

I'm a veggie Blush

Mabs, hope everything is ok?

lilibet · 07/01/2012 14:36

having this for tea - yum

fivegomadindorset · 07/01/2012 14:36

I find the weekends the hardest as food is just here.

Today I had two slices of toast with marmite. Took DD to her diving class and then she had a hot dog and I had a prawn and avocado sandwich and just had two biscuits, so better than I usually am. Steak and a few chips and salad tonight.

StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2012 14:41

Lilibet that sounds lovely, think I might have to do of sometime too. In fact I make myself a meal for tuesdays when I stay away, that'll do nicely. No avocado though! I'm a vegi too.

What I really need to do is get motivated and do some Wii fit but the kitchen needs tidying.

I am finding it a great help though writing down stuff here and find it a pretty good way of controlling what I eat.

StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2012 14:42

Well done 5. Enjoy your meal tonight

aaw thanks girls, am ok, just medical decisions to be made re ds surgery and I have no idea what docs are planning or when :( ds saying he doesn't want the op which doesn't help me...

clare8allthepies · 07/01/2012 14:59

Right, first WW meeting and 3 pounds on (which I was very pleased with seeing as I gave myself 3 weeks off for christmas and new year) back on track now. Today's weight was 11 stone 2 which means I've got 30 pounds to lose to get to my 9 stone target.

notveryinventive · 07/01/2012 17:00

well Ive had a better day today and yes my choc orange was eaten last night but I did wash it down with a glass of water and not a can of coke.

Im 200 calories over my goal, but thats still less than my normal calories burned, but like everybody else its the weekend thats hardest (though Ive found weekdays to be hard too)

This week I am determined to walk on the school run more than drive. The problem Ive got is that I lose track of time and before I know it Im too late to walk to pick DCs up so pop in the car. Although I have promised both DS and DD1 that I will bring their scooters with me when I pick them up so they can have a go scootering (is that a word?). DS wasnt very good last time and Im worried he will look silly as every other child his age can do it and they will laugh at him, DD is still young enough to be learning.

fivegomadindorset · 07/01/2012 17:57

Survived DCs tea.

StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2012 18:55

Lol, do you mean the temptation or the leftovers?

OP posts:
fivegomadindorset · 07/01/2012 19:37

Both Blush

fivegomadindorset · 07/01/2012 21:13

Right.

Two slices toast with low fat spread and marmite.
Prawn and avocado sandwich.
Slice of bread and marmite
2 biscuits
Steak, fat cut off (lucky dog) ceasar salad (very light on the dressing you can always add but never take away) and a few oven chips.

And Wine.

StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2012 21:52

That sounds good.
I am about to have a plate of pasta, I am actually really hungry. Can't decide what to ahve on - salt and pepper...or cheese

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2012 22:01

OK so I am having this pathetic portion of pasta, which most places recommend as the usual portion size (or less!) as a snack. On my diet.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2012 22:03

Just realised my OP said not to have excessive competitiveness with mysef. Erm.
I also need to remind myself why I am doing tis I think. I think my knees will be the first to develop problems. Or diabetes - that's what I'm very scared of at the moment

OP posts:
fivegomadindorset · 07/01/2012 22:19

Diabetes, sore feet, not being able towalk into shops and buy clothes. My motivation. Would also like to do a swimming instrcutors course.

lydiathetattooedlady · 08/01/2012 08:21

morning! weigh in day for me today and im 2lbs lighter hurrah!

Well done on the jeans stealth i have a pair of skinny size 12's i lunged my way in to before xmas kidding myself they were tight because they'd been washed. I'd like to be in to mine comfortably without the lunge by the end of feb.

Maybe we could do mini targets to spur us on? I think the above will be mine, to be a comfortable size 12 by end of feb, no lunging or lying on bed to get done up!

Heart problems run in my family and im high risk for bowel cancer, im hoping by losing weight and being healthier it will reduce my chances of getting either in the near future!

I hope everyone is still getting on ok.

StealthPolarBear · 08/01/2012 08:46

Well done lydia that's wonderful :o
Yes shared mini targets I think would help me a lot. Not sure if it's possible to go from a comfortable s18 to a s16 in6/7 weeks, can anyone advise? I don't want to set myself up to fail.
Should be possible, shouldn't it?
OK, s16s, easily - i.e. that's the size I'd pick between them and the 18s (yes I do have two identical pairs, one in each size) by end of Feb.
I went a bit mad yesterday, after the pasta I had loads of chocolate. I was right on the limit of my allowed cals but that's OK isn't it? I needed it - sick of being hungry and was nice to get to bed with a full stomach. Might do this every weekend, make an effort to treat myself and eat my 1510 cals (yes, the 10 is important). During the week try to stick to my lower goal.

OP posts:
MABS · 08/01/2012 10:04

on the limit is fine Stealth. I had a bad day and drank bottle wine, but only ate 3 small bags crisps all bloody day so prob not too bad on the calorie front!

Rowgtfc72 · 08/01/2012 10:11

Im careful during the week and not as careful at the weekend but I dont go mad. It makes a week of feeling hungry worth it ! We only have pudding on a weekend and bigger portions. Size 18 to 16 should be ok in seven weeks. I have zero willpower and think I could do that. Think thats where I go wrong, I want to lose three stone. Perhaps too big a target ? Maybe I should just buy smaller jeans and work into them ! My 18s are comfy, 16s wearable for a couple of hours but am thinking of buying 14s now. Can I just say have had the 16s seven yrs and theyve never fit before.Lost about nine pounds to get into them.Enjoy your weekend treats !

lilibet · 08/01/2012 12:12

I've not added my calories for yesterday yet, just hope to stay this side of 2000, which will leave me 8000 for the next six days. Mini goals is a good idea, I think my earlier target of 10lb in a month is foolish.

So what should I set? Hmmm... I am going to search my wardrobe for somehting that is jsut a bit too tight and aim to get into it by the end of January. I don't really beleive labels, I have 16s that are tight and a pair of 14s jeans that need a belt to stay up ( I lurve those)

BUT - I am going away next weekend, survival tips needed please?

Lydia - Yay - go you!
