GoingForGoalWeight · 11/12/2011 23:04

I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. Xmas Grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

Xmas Smile

thanks overtiredmum i have a 32 month old and i she's full on so i was feeling a bit drained but tonight i have had mainly positive thoughts. It's quite expensive too which is worrying me but at least i don't have to buy food for myself. I must have been spending about the same per week on junk food and fizzy drinks. I have never drank as much water in my life lol i used to drink cola like it was going out of fashion - 3 litres a day at least and i haven't had any for 4 days so it was a shock to the system. I'll get there though i know i will

GoingForGoalWeight · 02/02/2012 22:29

We are a work in progress. We are taking meicine to reduce our body fat. Without it id be 30 stone by the summer, i know it :(

blackout23 · 02/02/2012 22:35

this is a last resort for me - im 18 stone 4lb at the moment and it's getting ridiculous. It is at the point where its actually wrecking my life so i need to keep at it and get into the mindset that i am gonna look amazing when i finish it

Overtiredmum · 02/02/2012 22:37

Well, thats ana amazing start in itself Blackout! All that cola is not good for you, I would imagine not only are you withdrawing from caffeine, but you should start to notice that you will lose the bloatedness too.

If you like fizzy, try sparkling water. I drink about 1.5-2 litres of it during the evening, on top of probably about the same of filtered water during the day. It's very refreshing.

The water will really help flush you through, help with the cravings/hunger pangs and in the next day or two you will start to see an improvement in your skin and your hair.

I think we all agree about the expense of the diet itself, but as you say, when you weigh it up against the food and drink that you are not buying, then it sort of balances itself out. I used to buy 4 to 5 bottles of wine a week (yep, just for me!), so make that £20, then all the low fat foods, just for me, probably the same again, the diet has paid for itself. And no more hangovers!

Overtiredmum · 02/02/2012 22:38

What size clothes would you like to be, or rather what would be your first target? I brought myself a dress the other day for the summer, its a very small size 14, fits me now, but will look wonderful when I lose another stone or so. Thats my incentive, to get into it.

blackout23 · 02/02/2012 22:40

i was buying stupid amounts of takeaways, fizzy juice, chocolate, crips, mcdonalds and frankie and bennys every week so i think i am spending less on this than i was on other food.

That's where the main negative comments i have had have come from - the cost of the stuff. People don't understand that i am substituting food so i am not really out of pocket by much

Overtiredmum · 02/02/2012 22:43

Goodness, I'd be amazed if you were out of pocket at all! Its amazing how easy our lives spiral out of even our own control. Why don't you try and work out exactly what you are saving, and then put the difference away, ready for a treat for you and your DD, or for some new clothes!

Its hard to ignore the comments of people when they don't understand, especially when they usually come from people who have never had to diet. You'll get all the support you need on here my lovely x

blackout23 · 02/02/2012 22:43

I am hoping to get to about a size 12. Anything smaller is a massive bonus but i would be happy at a size 12. That's realistic at the moment.

Overtiredmum · 02/02/2012 22:50

12 is realistic for me too, although I would love to be a 10! Not been one of for about 15 years, so after 2 kids, thats highly unlikely!!

GoingForGoalWeight · 02/02/2012 22:54

Love to be a size 10 just for a bit, before i go back up to a size 12, as i think i wouldn't beable to maintain that size for long, size 10 for me isn't realistic, either :)

What clothes size does everybody else want to achieve?

Toobig4school · 03/02/2012 13:09

Realistically I'd be a happy voluptuous 14 but like all u guys would love to go in the shops and put on a 10 or 12. Imagine this time next year on track and at goal weight I for one can't wait.
That blog is so motivating I wish I could have him as my councillor my one told me I should be losing 7 pounds a week on as and he is losing so far I am losing the same the fat he holds is nasty imagine that's dripping off us.
I get weighed Sunday feeling nervous already I wonder wot the scales will say.
Welcome blackout ur in good company it does get easier I have 2 kids 4 and 6 and I think this diet is helping them too as I'm so conscious of them never having to go down this road so am teaching them about portions and listening to there own bodies. I also work in a nursery and have been cooking all weeks and not cheated once. As they say the proof is in the pudding

Starreaching · 03/02/2012 13:55

Hi everyone. Sorry for being so silent, I was coping with both the number on the scales (27st 2!!!) and not eating in the same way I seem to cope (unsucessfully) with everything - alone.

Am beginning to see that doesn't work so well! Anyway, with my docs support I am now on SS and am on day 3. Desperately hope it will get better. I haven't, will not, cheat but it's so hard that I have almost been in tears at times! Especially when I tried the porridge - yuk!

The soups are a lifesaver though - i love them! And I love that I have begun this journey. I will lose all this flab and I will NEVER let myself get into this state again. I really hate what I have done to myself but I am trying hard to love my body regardless and want to do the best for it!

All the stories and weight loss achievements from you all are so inspiring. Good luck everyone!

Overtiredmum · 03/02/2012 17:50

Well done Going, 5.5lbs is great!

I totally agree with what you say about finding the right packs for you and sticking to them. I am on 3 a day - I have strawberry at lunchtime, then I have a chocolate tetra around about now, and then a bar at about 8.30-9pm, all glugged down with a 2 litre bottle of sparkling water. I have about 3 cups of black coffee a day, and also 3 milky coffees, which helps to take the edge off if I am feeling hungry at all.

Not eaten today and feel great. Will be tomorrow and Sunday though, but will be sticking religiously to within the allowances.

GoingForGoalWeight · 03/02/2012 17:58

Overtiredmum i'm a bit Envy but 99% Grin you can do the iet the way you do xx That'll be me one day soon, that will Grin.

You really are an inspirational poster for me as everyone else here too. I'm so gla we're all in this together, i really thought i' be alone on this thread and people might report me!
Do the carbs in the milky coffee not make you a bit hungry?
Fresh or instant, decaff or caff?

Grin

Cockney did you start yet or still getting your head right about it?

Overtiredmum · 03/02/2012 18:06

Bless, thanks Going but I actually feel exactly the same about you! Your motivation is very contagious!

And to think I was just going to start WW again, it was only a friend of mine asked me to introduce her to my CDC, so I suggested I do it with her to encourage her.

When I say its a milky coffee, I mean I have more than a splash, but less than all milk - if thats makes sense! Its probably 75% water, then the rest is milk. Skimmed, that is. No, it doesn't make me feel hungry at all. I usually follow it up with a glass of water.

Usually its instant, I only have decaff if I feel I have had too much caffeine throughout the day. I make a pot of fresh coffee on a Sunday evening, which is my weekly treat, when the kids have gone to bed, and fresh coffee can only be drunk black! I also enjoy a nice peppermint tea, very refreshing when your mouth tastes like the inside of a smelly trainer!

GoingForGoalWeight · 03/02/2012 18:21

Laughing at "Inside of mouth, smelly trainer", comment, Grin

Currently I have a few mouth ulcer type bumps on the roof of my mouth. They're not sore just feel strange, situatedabove my two front teeth. Furry teeth, so brush often, use alcohol free Listerine. Had strong metal taste after brushing this morning. First time but went away very quickly.

Previous side effects were -

Was a tad shaky, wobbly, weak, lack of sleep within the first 36 hours. Then flush of face, hot cheeks and have been on and off. Bursts of energy, feel lighter, (as i weight less!), naturally more active, wanting to move around, more motivated, feel happier, not a sluggy slug slob that can hardly move. Mood elevated.

Wonder whether shake ingredients contain an element similar to anti-depressant?

Feeling optimistic about future, although came to conclusion when looking back on my life today that I'm better off without men an food in my life! Grin

Overtiredmum · 03/02/2012 18:38

Ahhhhh men, yes, I think we have all pondered that chestnut at some stage - including me - but then, who would I moan at and who would do the washing up???? Grin

Am exhausted tonight, think I am going to struggle staying awake until 11pm

cockneydad · 03/02/2012 19:53

Hi all - day 1 on SS+ is almost over - it's been OK - hungry and tired for parts of the day and I had a massive sugar crash this morning (I eat a piece of cheese - the only thing I could grab that wasn't very carby - I now have an emergency ham stash!)

Hoping ketosis kicks in soon ! Hope your all doing OK !

Overtiredmum · 03/02/2012 20:25

Well done Cockneydad. First couple of days are the worst, but you will soon start to feel better.

You would be better getting some pre-cooked chicken to keep in the fridge for moments of weakness.

gloriana · 03/02/2012 20:26

Hi everyone, I agree about the ingredients of the shakes - sometimes I just feel REALLY good! It is very unusual that I feel very happy and content with my lot when I am not eating anything Smile.

Have found that I am more forgetful than usual though but is not a big thing.

I don't really have a problem with eating and then going back to SS. I think my body is now used to SS and doesn't expect anything else. Having said that though - was SO hungry this evening. Am feeling ok now after my soup though. Have been feeling SO cold as well and went to bed with my hot water bottle last night. Bliss!

Toobig4school · 03/02/2012 20:41

Well done cockneydad just take it easy and rest as much as you can that's the best way to get through the 1st week.
