Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 08/11/2011 09:16

itchy and pukey (and a tad obsessive) is my usual reaction to headlice bee!

2 nightmares, hideous backache and a night of an over-active mind for me last night. AM quite looking forward to spending the morning ironing to get over it!

went to my mums in a huff yesterday after the school run, and DH was in when I got home, having signed up with the agency, and been to the jobcentre and sorted out some mix-up with his ESA, which could explain why we have no money, and chased up the vouchers they said I could have for my course books. So I suppose I'll have to let him offHmm

not looking forward to DoD, but never mind. tomorrow is a new week, and we have no celebrations to contend with this week.

keepingitRia · 08/11/2011 09:17

have to say I'm not impressed with his decision to have kippers for breakfast though

Hedgepig · 08/11/2011 12:02

I love Kippers Ria

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/11/2011 12:24

MM kippers, yum yum

What a grey and horrible day it is here in London. Miserable. I have been to zumba though and thoroughly enjoyed it. DH finished his long run of nights this morning, so I have a hand with DD today. About time too.

I am glad DD enjoyed playgroup bee. Shame about nits though . Nothing you can do about it - its like chicken pox, its going to happen at some point!

Right, I had better get on and clean the house. Interviewing a nanny later.

Food
B: Blueberries and FF yog
L: Lentil soup and toast
D: something with some skinless boneless chicken thighs. I might bake them with tomatoes, olives, passata and peppers. Serve with potatoes and veg, maybe.

grinningbee · 08/11/2011 13:56

Kippers - can't remember the last time I had those.... yum.

Cheese glad you have some help again Smile. Yep, she seemed to enjoy it. I think the test will be tomorrow . If she is happy to go again, then I think we might have cracked it Grin. I knew nits would be a feature at some point - just wasn't expecting it on day one, ha ha. S'pose I ought to keep an eye out for the little buggers. Ick.

Shopping all done, weigh in done, some washing done and now it's so dark again I need lights on!

Oh, and regarding the weigh in for this week, can I just let out a very frustrated "aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhh!" You'll see exactly what I mean tomorrow Wink.

keepingitRia · 08/11/2011 13:58

each to their own with the kippers. the microwave still stinks.

having a pants day, have spent much of the morning in tears. must be hormonal.

grinningbee · 08/11/2011 14:00

Oh, Ria! What's up? Anything we can help with?

SlinkyB · 08/11/2011 14:03

Ooh, interviewing a nanny eh, sounds very posh! Good luck, bet it'll be tough to choose one. Keep telling myself no-one will look after ds as well as me, ready for Jan. Think it's sinking in, slowly.

Thanks for the link bee - I've got a friend going there later this week and she's getting me some -hurrah! Ds is driving me batty. Chucked a tanty because I turned Teletubbies off when trying to give him lunch, then refused to take his antibiotics, then spat his lunch everywhere Angry. So he went to bed, and now we're missing baby group Sad. It's only going to get worse, isn't it?! Confused.

grinningbee · 08/11/2011 14:13

Er, tis all totally normal I'm afraid. Not that it helps to know that. I wouldn't say it will get worse than that... just that the frequency of those sorts of incidents increases Grin. It's a wonder I'm not grey yet.

I know just how you feel about nursery. All yesterday I kept asking dh if I'd done the right thing. I know I have really, but it's so hard to let go . I'm sure I shall learn to enjoy it after a while Grin even if it is just two mornings a week!

Dd is next to me on the sofa, and just said to me "You're not my best friend anymore", followed by "I want a Mummy cuddle". Well, what can you say to that?

Think I'll do some more washing.

SlinkyB · 08/11/2011 14:19

Toddlers, fickle eh?! Wink. Thanks for the pat. Think it's being stuck in on grey, miserable days thats making it worse. Did walk to town and back earlier, and mow trying to think of somewhere cheap/free/fun to take him. Might just go for a drive and play music loudly, that usually puts a smile on my boat.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 08/11/2011 18:50

Its not that posh slinky. None of the nurseries / childminders are open for as long as we need them too. Its going to cripple us financially - essentially my entire wage will go on childcare. Hope T settled down for you.

Grin at your DD bee!
Ria hope you are OK.

We are falling back on a SW favourite here; sweet chilli chicken with roasted veg. I am hoping DD settles tonight. We want an early night Wink and DH wants a preview of the new bra

SlinkyB · 08/11/2011 20:54

Ugh, that sounds totally depressing cheese. Do you love your job though? Are you looking forward to going back? I'm really fortunate to only have to pay for 1.5 days per week for nursery, as family are helping out for the rest of the week. If we had to pay for full-time nursery, I wouldn't be going back to work (f/t nursery here is approx £1k per month, although when you said 3 x 11hr shifts for nanny would cost £350 I nearly fainted! Think that's over double what you'd pay round these parts). I hate my job though, so can't see my sticking it out f/t for too long anyway.

I've lost my mojo these past few days. Off to Wales tomorrow to spend the day with my lovely, nutty sister, so that should cheer me up. T did wake up from his nap much happier, then darling dp agreed to meet us at a ridiculously overpriced soft-play centre nearby, so that got us out of the house again Smile.

Hedgepig · 08/11/2011 21:15

DS2 goes to nursery for 4 days and that is £800! role on Sept 2013 when he goes to school I enjoy my work and wouldn't be able to get back into it at the same level if I left and I would go absolutely insane at home with a LO full time did you interview anyone suitable Cheese?

I've done pretty well with food for the last few d. I made the minced beef has from the extra easy book but used Turkey Mince instead of beef it was very yummy. The turkey mince was probably to high in fat though as I find it really hard to get my hands on the extra lean minces SW says exists

Hedgepig · 08/11/2011 21:22

roll!!

keepingitRia · 08/11/2011 22:08

thanks guys. It's just stuff getting me down really.

kid · 08/11/2011 23:23

Sorry to hear about the benefits Ria, makes you wonder why we bother working sometimes.
DH has just been hit with a £600 tax bill that his work should have sorted out in April. I haven't got a clue but I think his work are now going to sort it out and it will come out of nexts years tax. Still think his employers are a bit thick for not sorting it out though.

As usual, I've left lots to do before I go to bed. I washed DDs uniform tonight because she got snot on it. She tried palming it off as glue but I knew and she admitted it Grin I tried the babywipes but that was a bit of a disaster so in the machine in went.

I've tried sticking to SW but its so not happening atm. I am not feeling fatter though and my clothes still feel the same so I'm hoping I'm doing okay.

I got a letter from DDs school today asking for permission for her to have the cervical cancer injections. I hate injections, I know she does too and I am really reluctant to give permission. I used to refuse to even give my parents the letters for injections when I was at school. I only ever had one done at school. To this day, I've never had the polio. I know its not even an injection but they was giving it with the tetanus and I wasn't willing to have that done so had neither! Maybe I'll get DH to sign the letter and then I can console DD and we can gang up on DH

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/11/2011 23:33

chips - I get them from an independent shop in Bishops Stortford (used to be one in whitechapel too but pretty sure she's shut that now), but friends elsewhere in the country have mentioned them too, so they must be available in other stores. I haven't looked online for them tbh, but I expect you can get them somewhere if you prefer to buy that way.

Sympathies ria. Times are tough for so many families at the moment. We are fortunate that when dh works he earns quite a bit, but because he is self employed we have no income when he doesn't have a contract, and he has had 15 months with no work in the last 3 years, which has hit us quite hard. Fortunately we have a flexible mortgage that we had overpaid into when times were good, so have been withdrawing money from that, thus effectively increasing our mortgage in order to pay day to day living costs. We weren't entitled to any benefits at all because we invested some money into the in-laws business a few years back when they were having difficulties, which the government consider to be an investment that we should live off Hmm. Thankfully dh has a new contract starting next week. It's only for 2 or 3 months, but might tide him over until his usual client sorts out financing for a project in Brazil that they theoretically want him to work on. At least it will pay for Christmas.

More screaming from ds2 in the night, with some vomiting (he coughed hard just after a feed and think that caused it). Am now going to have to test the theory that he has an egg intolerance as well as a milk one, as I've been eating a lot more eggs since starting SW (which pass to him as bf still). So no eggs for me for a few days. Goodness knows what I'll have for breakfast now!

grinningbee · 09/11/2011 09:41

Ria It's not a good time at the moment, is it. I hope things turn around very soon Sad Dh has to go to the council next week for our 6 monthly review on the housing etc. I'm at the point of dreading the post man coming, but I couldn't afford to find a job, as childcare costs for 2 littlies judging by what some of you have said would be way more than I can earn.

Kid I hope the injection for dd goes alright. The SW thing will kick back in again when the time is right.

CSWS I hope you find something you can eat!

Slinky Hope you find your mojo soon. Have fun with your sister!

I feel like a horrible mummy today. Took dd to playgroup, walk down was fine, going in and changing shoes etc was fine... went to hang up her coat and bag and suddenly she was doing a death grip on my legs sobbing her heart out Sad I could quite easily have joined her I felt so rotten.

The group leader took her off to do some painting, so hopefully all is well. 2 hours or so and I'll find out. Think I'll take her to the shop on the way back for a treat. Please tell me this is normal!

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Left over sweet chilli chicken with tomatoes and 2 slices of bread (6 syns)

Good luck for Dod everyone Smile

grinningbee · 09/11/2011 10:48

Er... where are you all today?

Sad
grinningbee · 09/11/2011 11:25

Don't make me start singing!

Oh well . Off to get dd in a few minutes. Hope you're all off having fun, and don't have your noses in the biscuit tin!

Wink
CantSleepWontSleep · 09/11/2011 12:25

Hello. Nothing much to say but didn't want you feeling all lonely!

Most children go through a 'not wanting mummy to leave' stage at playgroup - some at first, some after a few weeks. In fact my dd is about the only child I know who was never bothered about being left at one, because frankly it was far more interesting than time with me!!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/11/2011 13:30

Sorry I have been out and about. Hope she settled ok bee, I bet she was easily distracted!

Anyway, don't forget to PM me!

grinningbee · 09/11/2011 13:56

Pm'd you yesterday - did you get it?

Hope you've had a nice morning. Apparently she was a bit unsettled for the first hour, but then she was fine. Seemed very happy when I picked her up (didn't want to go home!), but I do hope we don't have tears again on Monday. She's currently sitting in ds's bouncy chair that he is now too big for, and watching Spongebob Grin

My lovely neighbour asked me last night if I can write down for her what I eat Grin. She's an ex SW member, and keeps commenting on how I'm doing.

Best not mention then that I was looking at the factory clearance bit of the Thorntons website earlier... purely from a Christmas piggery point of view Wink

Chipskilartar · 09/11/2011 15:57

Hi everyone, do I have to pm someone with my result this wek, or just post on this thread?

Thanks for the info csws I'm not local to Bishops Stortford, so will have a look online.

Sad to hear about your LO bee, it's probably just because it's new for her. Fortunately my boys were always ok when left at play group, but always said to myself that it's time to worry if they're crying when you pick them up.

Sounds like you're having a bit of a tough time ria. Which TA course are you studying?

Chipskilartar · 09/11/2011 16:08

Think I found it - I PM'd cheese?
