pp made this recipe: happyfoody.com/2009/05/07/apple-pie-crumb-cake-muffins today. i used white flour and apple juice instead of the cider.

they're really really yum.

i think they're pretty much ok for As but am prepared to be told otherwise Grin

ppeatfruit · 24/11/2011 09:23

Thanks cakes Nice to hear from you Smile How's its going for you? I'm also on Food Combining which is not to eat fruit and anything else at the same meal so they would give me heartburn, shame but there you are.

ppeatfruit · 24/11/2011 13:43

I keep trying to post a recipe but mumsnet goes off line when i've finished !! It may be too long and I try to save it but it doesn't work, don't know why but I'll try once more later.

Okay here goes cakes; One pan Spicey Chocolate Brownies

Ingreds.-

150g 70% plain chocolate

100g. ground almonds

50g. flour (i use rice and chestnut)

75g molasses

75 syrup

any spices you like

rice or soya milk to loosen the mix

50g cooking oil (i use olive oil or almond oil) You can't taste it!!

2 tsp. baking powder

Method -; Using a solid bottomed large saucepan gently dry fry the spices you have chosen. Over hot water melt choc. add oil mix gently and then add the syrups . Put back on low hob and mix gently again. add the milk to loosen and remove from heat add flour, almonds and baking powder. Mix up. Oil a quiche tin or tart. and put in 180C oven no fan. for approx. half an hour check it and it needs to be sticky so the centre will not dry out.

Cool in tin for half an hour then cut up and put on cooling rack.

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 09:03

Morning everyone. How is everyone?
Sorry not been on for a while, I've been to the Drs now, and he has diagnosed fibromyalgia as I have quite a lot of other things going on, aswell as the ibs.
So I am now armed and dangerous and on a health kick. I have decided to totally sign up for this so last night. I bought the app, which have to say is brilliant.
Now just waiting for my eggs for my brekkie.

So fellow As I'm now looking for ideas for meals as a lot of the things I like, I now can't have Sad but I have to do this. Ive even got hubby on board, which should help.

Ps ppea you where right about the dukan Blush I did give it another go, but felt dreadful, just can't be good for you (well me) to feel that yuck.

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 09:49

argggghhhh no prawns or balsamic vinegar, this is going to be hard

CakeandRoses · 30/11/2011 10:39

Hey everyone!

That recipe looks great, will def try it. Just realised most of my fave recipes won't work for you pp as they contain carrots, dates, apple etc! Will have another think.

Had a dreadful weekend food wise as have been in Belgium and forced to exist on all the wrong things. My tummy doubled in size so I'm now even more convinced about this diet. Back on the wagon today!

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 10:56

Hi Cake, sounds like the diet is working for you.
Isn't ppea an A like me? I think we can have carrots, dates and apples. You can according to this app Confused

Can I ask, Is corn and rice pasta ok to eat for A's? I'm still unsure on the pasta thing and bread so going to stick to rye and stay away from wheat.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2011 10:58

Hey nice to have a few back on board Smile alfie If you think about the prawns feeding off dead bodies in Indian rivers it might put you off! Grin I use lemon juice instead of vinegar which is very acid forming thus causing athritis pains It CAN be done you know.

cakes I can eat carrots in cakes just not fruit because I eat fruit on an empty stomach. IKWYM about Belgium the food is good there isn't it? Shame they don't make parsnip or celeriac chips with tahini mayo !!

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2011 11:03

alfieAnother thought about yr. fibromyal. you could also try eating fruit on an empty stomach although not talked about in the blood type it's why I don't have any arthritis (and it runs in my family) even my sceptical sister ,who has bad pains, found it got a lot better when she stopped eating fruit after meals.

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 11:07

Hi ppea yup that has done the trick Grin.

Strangely enough years ago I had some strange allergy tests done at a health food shop, I was only young so was very sceptical about the results so didn't really stick to it, anyway all of my avoids are on the list, freaky.

The pains have increased lately and yep youv'e guessed it ppea I have been hammering the balsamic, good idea about the lemon.

ppea why do you eat fruit only on an empty stomache, is this a PM or a blood diet thing? If you don't mind me asking.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2011 11:07

Oh i just saw yr. last post alfie yes rice pasta and noodles are fine, the noodles are much cheaper than the free from corn pasta but it's okay as well.

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 11:08

ha ha ppea you beat me to it there, with your answer on the fruit. So you eat it on an empty stomache, is it because it's harder to digest?

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 11:10

Thanks ppea it's the Morrisons rice and corn pasta, so presume it's still ok. It's suprisingly very good, can't tell the difference, no actually it's nicer, not as heavy ifykwim.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2011 11:18

No the fruit on empty stomach is what I read in a book called Fit for Life (which is based on the Food Combining Diet) years ago DH and I started then and I tell you it makes a huge difference to yr. health and weight. It's because fruit takes no time to digest so it rots on top of a meal and the toxins don't do you any good.

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 11:21

Urggggh, I think I will give that one a go to.
I take it mint sauce is banned. I know it's an odd combination but I like it on my pasta Blush
Off to check if pesto is on list

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2011 11:26

I'll look at that pasta when we're in London soon alfie thanks!

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 11:29

Where are you from ppea?

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 11:29

Struggling to find pesto?

alfiemama · 30/11/2011 11:29

oops please excuse ?

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2011 11:33

You can make yr own mint sauce without vinegar and I have bought parmesan free pesto in London I think I got in Waitrose, though that's quite easy to make too.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2011 11:38
