Fab migraines are the pits.

Good day today. Had a big rant with my lovely baby brother about my parents. He agrees and it was all v.cathartic. Apols if I've already mentioned the ranting, I'm so tired I can hardly see.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 23/09/2011 10:57

I am back in the groove today. I am really liking what I see in the mirror these days, it is brilliant. Grin

I have some more long term goals. In addition to my brother getting married at the end of Feb, I've got two more family weddings in May and then September next year. The September one is going to be in Italy and be v.glamorous. I have in my mind that I would like to be a size 12. 3 dress sizes is very achievable in a year I would think?

TheOriginalFAB · 23/09/2011 11:59

I would say so, Ali, you are doing really well.

I was just thinking that after dc1 and dc2 I lost all the baby weight without much work. It took 6 months with my first child and 12 with the second. I am now 1 1/2 stone heavier than when my baby was 2 months old. Having the 3rd baby has made a lot of changes to my body and life. Before I had him I would have cereal and toast for breakfast, jacket potato with butter and cheese for lunch and then a proper dinner with DH. I probably ate crisps or chocolate every day and drank coke/lemonade every day too. Maybe I should go back to doing that Confused.

Now I only drink water with maybe 1-2 cokes/lemonades a week. I don't eat chocolate and crisps every day.

When I have a proper breakfast I really notice the difference but go through phases of feeling hungry and eat too much.

Today I have had muesli for breakfast, toffee cheesecake for mid morning snack Hmm but I was hungry. Just had a king prawn noodle salad and will b having an earlier tea with the children of gammon, new potaotes and veg.

I have asked DH to sort out the garage so the rowing machine can go in there with the tv so I can exercise without getting bored.

How is everyone doing today?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 23/09/2011 12:40

Fab I struggled after DS1, because I got PND and ate too many biscuits. When he was 18 months old I was the same weight as when I was 9 months pregnant! Blush
I lost some before I got pregnant with DS2, and my weight at 9 months was the same as it had been with DS1. I am now 3lbs lighter than when I got pregnant with DS1 (which is 15lbs lighter than when I got pg with DS2), so I feel like I'm doing really well.

I think that DS1 being at preschool is actually a major factor. It means that I am getting a walk twice a day, 4 days a week. Plus it gives me some structure. I think when you've got a baby and no schedule, it is too easy to flop about, meals are all over the place, no exercise etc etc.

CaerMum · 23/09/2011 13:12

Thanks for the welcome, ppeatfruit - seems I jumped in at the right place with this site! ;)

CaerMum · 23/09/2011 13:14

And thanks to everyone else for the welcome too (must learn to read entire thread before commenting ;)

CaerMum · 23/09/2011 13:25

FAB I know I'm new but so sorry re: the migraines. I get them on a very occasional basis and that is bad enough - can't imagine dealing with them all the time.

My summary for Tarty..

I've always been an emotional/bored eater and knew I simply ate too much at each meal as well although have always eaten a pretty balanced diet so I found this suited me really well.

At first I found it tough to stop when full, but found making a smaller portion of stuff helped with that until the psychology caught up with me! I've lost 2.5 stone since the beginning of March, and gone from a size 16 to 12. I've found that I seem to lose it steadily for a bit, then plateau and not lose much for a few weeks and then lose some more. I have managed not to put any back on at all though which is one of the things that feels so different and amazing about this weightloss plan - in the past I've never felt it would last. I've thrown away my big clothes, that's how confident I feel in it!

The eating what you fancy thing is incredibly important, especially if you were an emotional eater like me, as it works to stop you feeling deprived - and after a while it's like your body knows what it needs and if you follow your craving you'll feel satisfied and end up eating a balanced diet. If I fancy cake for lunch I have it, but then I find I don't want anything that sweet for a few days. It really works.

In terms of exercise I go to the gym or swim 1-2 times a week at most and have always walked - e.g. have a bit of a walk from where I park car to work each day etc.

TartyMcFarty · 23/09/2011 16:24

Caer, that's brilliant progress. If I could be a stone or so lighter I'd be pleased, you must be very proud of yourself!

I'm starving at the moment but waiting to see the doc then going to a kettlebell class, so don't know when I'll get chance to eat or what I fancy

I've only be going for 3 days but am finding I've almost cut out the habitual snacking and am just troughing through less in the course of the day. Good stuff!

TheOriginalFAB · 24/09/2011 07:51

Today is day one. There is somethint very sobering about having to write down for the GP everything I eat and drink. I have weighed myself and have gained yet more weight this week. And my period has started.

WhoresHairKnickers · 24/09/2011 09:42

Well, the weight gain will be your period then, so it doesn't count as weight gain.

TheOriginalFAB · 24/09/2011 12:35

I hope so. I don't notmally but I will weigh myself when my period has finished and see what happens. DH just gone to get fish and chips for lunch (DS1's request after a tough week) and I will have a small portion and then just picnic tea. Didn't buy any ice cream or chocolate at Waitrose but did buy muesli and fruit to snack on. I have made cheesy spinach muffins and they will be nice for tea later on.

TheOriginalFAB · 24/09/2011 17:41

So, as per the doctor's orders I have written down everything I have eaten today.

Muesli
Full fat milk (have bought skimmed for the rest of the week)
1/2 portion of fish and chips (no batter eaten except for 1 mouthful)
1 orange
1 cheese & spinach muffin (home made)
3 cherry tomatoes
1 yellow pepper
1 orange pepper
1 carrot
houmous
2 teaspoons of potato salad

Does that sound enough bearing in mind I have 3 stone to lose, I have my period and I am currently rubbish at losing weight due to an unknown ussue and being on AD's?

BsshBossh · 24/09/2011 19:32

FAB have you had dinner yet, also how much muesili was your portion? That would be a day's food for me eg cereal for breakfast, muffin and veg for lunch and half portion fish and chips for dinner plus some fruit...

TheOriginalFAB · 24/09/2011 19:53

Yes, the peppers, tomatoes, carrots and houmous was dinner with the potato salad.

The muesli was 3/4 of a dish full.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 24/09/2011 23:13

See Fab to me that sounds next to nothing, but my metabolism is super-charged at the moment because of feeding and carrying my 20lb child around all day. If I ate that little I would keel over in a faint.

Looking at it, there isn't much protein.

TheOriginalFAB · 25/09/2011 07:15

I am poorly Sad.

Have woken up with a migraine, heavy cold and sore throat. Have taken one of the tablets the GP gave me. Meant to be going out with the inlaws today but with how I am feeling plus a heavy period, I just can't face it.

TheOriginalFAB · 25/09/2011 09:56

DH said one doesn't lose weight in a day but I thought I would weigh myself to see if being careful about what I ate has had any effect. I have lost 3lbs Shock. I know that won't last as 3lbs a day is 1 1/2 stones a week but I will take anything I can get!

DH has gone out with the kids and his parents and he has told me not to do anything silly. I asked like what and he said abseiling Grin. I plan to stay in bed and sleep later. The tablet is working quite well but has left me feeling like I best stay in bed.

WhoresHairKnickers · 25/09/2011 10:11

I eat 2 tablespoons of Jordans muesli with Greek yoghurt for breakfast every morning and because I'm chewing each mouthful about 40 times (yes really), it does fill me up. I used to eat a big (huge) bowl full of a cheaper, more sugary one with milk, but I can't eat that much any more and don't enjoy the sweetness of it anyway.

Your weight can fluctuate daily by as much as half a stone IME, which is why we shouldn't weigh daily...it can be disheartening.

I too have a rotten cold. Feel like poo actually. ME is crap too atm.

Happy Sunday.

TheOriginalFAB · 25/09/2011 10:58

I don't plan to weigh myself again until next week. I was just interested to see if I had lost anything.

Sounds like you need a duvet day too Sad.

How is your little one doing at full time school?

WhoresHairKnickers · 25/09/2011 12:11

Yes, I do, but I'm due at Mums for dinner and my Ds is there already, so I'll have to pick him up anyway...

Dd loves it :) Now to get on with house sorting!!! no excuse that Dd is in the way.

TheOriginalFAB · 25/09/2011 12:26

You may as well enjoy a dinner being cooked for you Smile.

WhoresHairKnickers · 25/09/2011 13:00

We go every week and it is lovely, but I don't feel well. The pain in my legs is baaad...

TheOriginalFAB · 25/09/2011 13:26

Can you not rest at home and pick your son up later?

I am in bed, only getting up to put the washing on and the chicken in the oven, DH will be back about 4 and says he will do everything then. My head hurts whenever I move Sad.

WhoresHairKnickers · 25/09/2011 13:40

Sadly not and someone has to do the ironing... (that'd be me then!) and get everything ready for school.

Hope you feel better soon :)

TheOriginalFAB · 25/09/2011 13:49

I just don't understand why I am getting daily migraines when I was diagnosed with them months ago and was getting less than 1 a month.
