Thanks pp I'll have to do something!

Mum's 70th birthday bash went very well and I hardly ate a thing. The weight is not shifting unless I put the scales on a completely different tile in the bathroom Blush. I need to get back to basics I think and listen to the cd's again.

ppeatfruit I have thought about doing the belly exercise I will try and have a look for it. I am stating to find the tummy exercises on 30 day shred a bit easier so they must be starting to work.

I weighed this morning and have lost a little bit more. I'm not losing it very quickly but it is coming off slowly but surely! I now need to lose another 3/4 lb and I will have lost one stone in total.

I tried on my Jane Norman dress that I want to wear to DD3s christening in August and it fitted! I probably need to lose a few more pounds to look my best in it but I think I could get away with it now. It even made me look like I have a bit of a bust :)

I find that if I weigh myself on carpet I am a lot heavier than if I weigh myself on the kitchen floor.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 20/06/2011 16:00

You need a hard flat surface for your scales to be 'accurate' MM. Well done though Grin

I weighed in the bathroom this morning and as an experiment I'm going to try on the kitchen floor in a little bit. If I am more I will just put it down to being later in the day and wait another 2 weeks to weigh again.

I'm going away this weekend and wont be able to do the 30 shred DVD for 3 nights so I'm going to try and do it everynight til we go. I will also try ppeatfruits tummy exercise, my stomach feels huge today!

PositiveAttitude · 20/06/2011 20:53

What's the tummy exercise ppeat? I am not brave enough for the 30 shred, but tummy exercise sounds good. I have recently bought an abs cruncher thing and am trying to do some sets when I can each day. Wink

I know we are not supposed to be weighing, but to be honest over the past few weeks I have not "felt" any thinner, but the scales have said that I have kept losing, so, for me, it has been encouraging.

blimey · 20/06/2011 21:48

I have to keep weighing regularly as I can lose track if I don't, it's just what works for me. I am not getting depressed by it. I put on weight at half term even though I was good and exercised loads and have now finally got back to where I was before half term which is around a stone down. I have never ever stuck to trying to gain slimness this long before. Somehow I have finally found my motivation to lose weight. I can now eat without part of me thinking this could be my last meal ever and therefore overstuffing. It is really wierd how this has worked. I would really urge any lurkers out there to give it a go - It can totally change your attitude to food!

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2011 07:16

Right on Blimey!! TheAmazingBellyExercise!!* It'll be in 2 parts 'cos i can't post more than 3 lines 1. Lie Flat on yr firmish bed or floor (i do it on or in bed)!!2. Keeping yr head in line with yr spine (this is NOT a sit up or crunch exercise)....

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2011 07:23

.....cont.3. raise gently from the hips (you will only move 3 or 4cms.) start with arms flat and raise above head as you get stronger. You don't need to hold but you can if you feel like it. Also during the day keep pulling those muscles in counting to 20 at any time (like pelvic floor exes!)

PositiveAttitude · 21/06/2011 07:24

yes........ Grin

PositiveAttitude · 21/06/2011 07:25

xposted. Grin

Thanks. Will add that to my abs crunching.

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2011 07:28

The brilliant thing about the exercise is that you can actually feel the muscles activate (I do it last thing at night and it gets me to sleep) so you burn fat while you sleep!! what could be better??!!!!

BsshBossh · 21/06/2011 08:58

I'm another "weigher". Before this year, I can count on one hand the amount of times I've weighed myself (as opposed to been weighed eg at gym and at doctors occasionally). I weighed myself at 30 and knew that I was 11 stones then. I weighed myself before I got pregnant and knew that I was 12 stones then. When I weighed myself next it was 2011 and I was 15 stones! By not weighing myself, I'd allowed the weight to creep on by stealth!

So now I have to weigh myself (every 2 weeks) so I don't let that stealth-creep happen again. After I've reached my 11 stone goal I'll start weighing myself once a month only.

TheOriginalFAB · 21/06/2011 10:00

I don't know what to dooooooooooo.

Same weight as last time I weighed myself but at least I haven't put any on. I just don't feel hungry, don't want to eat but obviously need too. I just want to drink water.

Niecie · 21/06/2011 10:16

I agree, you have to weigh yourself occasionally or you have no idea what is going on. Part of why some of us have got into the position we are in now is because our self image is at odds with our actual weight. We can easily delude ourselves that there is no problem and that we don't need to lose weight if we don't actually find out what we do weigh. Or alternatively we don't see any changes but actually we have lost quite a bit, we just have an old self image that hasn't caught up with reality. You can also believe you are bigger than you are which is also demotivating if you think you have more to lose than your really have. Coupled to that is the fact that you need to lose a lot when you are as large as me for it to make any visible difference whatsoever and you need some evidence that what you are doing is working or you give up.

I was cross on Sunday because the scales appeared to have gone beserk and suddenly I was completely lost about where I actually was and what I had or hadn't achieved. This resulted in the mad moving of the scales to all the different spots in the bathroom when I am normally disciplined to use the same spot over and over again. I think the scales were adding 4lbs on again - they came out of the box showing 4lbs when I bought them and I nearly took them back except they did correct themselves and 99% of the time they seem fine. I wonder if Sunday they had a little relapse and went back to their adding on 4lb ways!!

Niecie · 21/06/2011 10:37

FAB - Sorry you are struggling and don't feel well.Sad

When you had your blood pressure taken last week did you speak to a doctor about how you are feeling and the lack of weight loss? I am wondering if you have something wrong with your thyroid or something similar that is stopping you losing weight. It sounds very odd. What about your low blood sugar as well? Did nobody offer an explanation?

BsshBossh · 21/06/2011 10:40

Part of why some of us have got into the position we are in now is because our self image is at odds with our actual weight. Exactly the case for me, niece! I never noticed the weight creep on because I was too busy enjoying life and also my DH has never commented on my weight - he's always liked the way I look and so do my friends and family. So my self-image has generally been one of an attractive, confident person enjoying life! So, yes, I have to weigh myself from now on.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 21/06/2011 10:52

Hello all!

I was weighing all the time and literally watching the weight increase :(

I've seemingly put on a bundle this past few weeks, but i can't honestly see it! which is good in one sense, but not in reality!

And I did look good on Saturday night! wanna see?

FAB, are you self appreciating in the mirror? hope you are.

OP posts:
Niecie · 21/06/2011 11:00

Yes Solo that can happen too. I think that was my problem or rather I alternated between not daring to look for ages and then looking all the time in morbid fascination at the continued weight gain.Blush

The trick is obviously to weigh yourself and but not too often. I don't suppose either hiding from the scales on one hand nor being obsessed with them and weighing yourself all the time on the other hand isn't good for us but I don't really get why reasonable weighing (once a week or once a fortnight) is such a problem for PMcK.

Anyway, go on, lets see the pics of the new streamlined Solo. Sounds like you had a good weekend. Smile

SoloIsAHotCougar · 21/06/2011 11:09

Had a great time Niecie :) but I can't put a pic up as I need to cut out my two friends and can't!

I'll put it up for a couple of minutes; hold on!

I can't open your profile for some reason.

Did you get to wear something you haven't been able to wear for ages? I like doing that - it feels like something new without parting with the cash!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 21/06/2011 11:21

Try again Niecie.

No, I bought a designer dress from the British Heart Foundation!!!

TBH Paul Mc DOES say weigh every fortnight but not obsessively, my clothes always tell me one way or the other.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 21/06/2011 11:24
