Welcome one, and welcome ALL to our 10th Thread, celebrating the long haul that has been central to our successful weight loss...

There is certainly lots more success to be enjoyed, so stay and weigh, there is always someone on hand for support or to give a kick up the backside as needed Grin We are good at motivating one another that's for sure!

Passes out the champagne that looks suspiciously like wine, Blondes you are only allowed ONE!

Same GT - I wondered how you two got on last night?

OP posts:
SureSlimCanterbury · 08/06/2011 08:39

Prettybird, we put them away each night - well now mid afternoon (about 5pm) as they were disappearing as early as 6pm! The Eglu's are great we have a friend who has one, and when we was away at Christmas took them to a chicken sitters near where she lives and they have Eglu's and cubes, they are a great product, although we have the traditional wooden arks - so so easy to clean.
We got them for our foster son, who wanted a job, having watched Junior Apprentice, and wanted to start with an egg round (he was 11 at the time) he did really well for about 4 weeks - then gave up, so I'm left selling the eggs and cleaning them out. They do make a nice addition to the garden though :-)

I have been really good (food wise) and lost 1b since Saturday, we have my parents coming on Friday, so I should try and cook something wonderful (please note the try!) as they are off on holiday for almost 6 weeks. If only! :-) Oh well, best get on with the day and meet it with a smile. Have a good one all and remember it looks better on the plate than on your hips

GettinTrimmer · 08/06/2011 09:45

Or in my case SureSlim on the tummy!

Someone round my way had chickens a while ago, we were woken by a cockerill at silly o'clock. Admire your foster son's enterprising idea, can he do something else now to become the next Alan Sugar?

Meal was lovely thanks pisty/Blondes, pesto linguine with potatoes and green beans followed by honeycomb cheesecake, washed down by pinot grigio Smile

Well, the situation is resolved and dh will go for the house Smile His concern was that we would go for this house then see something that is perfect for us, but I don't think it's out there or if it is we will have to move to an inconvenient area or wait for years, pay more, etc, etc.

He asked would I be upset if we didn't go for it, I said yes but I would get over it, but he would not get over moving to a house he is not happy with and his being happy with it comes first.

We have also been offered £500 reduction.

Dh chilled out over the course of the evening and I reminded him it's the best house we've seen - and one of his objections - garage not attached to house, which I really didn't get Hmm. He thought he would have to go out in the garage in the pouring rain to get stuff he uses every day, but I reminded him we will have a utility room, so he could cross that one off his list.

Also this stupid indemnity insurance the executors are refusing to pay. Builders in 1967 said no extentions, and builders have gone out of business, so no-one can do anything about it, they've been advised to refuse to pay. Our solicitor is refusing to complete unless it's paid.

This is an executor sale, parents are executor their son has died. I really can't be doing with making a fuss about it at a time of grief for them, it is £140, we will have to pay it out of the £500 reduction. In the big scheme of things it is not a great deal.

We decided to just go with it or this will go on and on, I really don't have the heart for it when I imagine all the other stuff they have to do.

And I reminded dh we got fleeced big time when we bought this house, it needed a bloody rewire that cost £3000, this just needs an electrical upgrade that can be done as and when.

Phew!!

prettybird · 08/06/2011 10:11

Glad you're getting it sorted.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2011 13:26

dinner sounds yummy though pasta and potatoes? double carbs!!! Shock

glad dh has said yes to house - it really is very nice Envy

we had to we wire our house and bastard band held back £3k of our mortgage till we had it done

1st job on our list the day after we moved in - all rooms had one plug socket apart from kitchen which had 3

i have toaster/kettle/micro/washing mac/tumble dryer/boiler/tv/dvd in mine so needed 8

was bad at coffee morning - ate banana cake that my friend made - was yummy -actually had 3 slices Blush but no breakie

just tucking into a tuna ceaser salad at moment as did it all, then reliesed there was no chicken at work lol

SureSlimCanterbury · 08/06/2011 17:10

Trimmer, sounds like you had a nice meal and got lots sorted, hope it's all stress free for you now.
We are renting and don't have to worry about mortgages, and electrical testing etc - thank goodness.

I have been very good today, fruit crumble with yoghurt for breakfast, and turkey & veg curry for lunch, just don't know what to do for dinner. I'll see what ds & dh fancy.

Right back to it. :)

prettybird · 08/06/2011 17:29

Just back from a Cut'n'Colour (who was it who hates their head being touched weirdo ?). The colourist did very well with matching my not very specific request of "like my natural colour which you can't see much of 'cos I've coloured it for so long but brighter with some blonde streaks" with the end result.

She went against what the hairdresser said (who wanted the base more reddy copper) and showed me some colour charts and we went for a lighter "copper" (more like a rich pale brown), with some foiled blonde slices - and he agreed it worked very well.

I have so much hair though, she had to keep on going and filling up her bottles of colour!

Dh likes it - although he did say "it'll look even better when you've lost a bit more weight" (ever honest, my dh Hmm)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/06/2011 17:39

Envy at the double carbs lovely GT!

Am so glad your house situation is resolved. In the best Kirsty and Phil tradition, your DH sounds like he buys a property with his heart, whilst you are the sort who buys with their head. I'm loving the garage being an issue for him. No one has garages here, we are all in Victorian or Edwardian period stuff so garages don't exist!! And it is a very strong family home, with a utility room [iheartmine]

You are right about £140 is inconsequential in the greater scheme of things. The sale sounds a very sad scenario.

So are we all back on the house move in 6 ish weeks??!! Last I heard I was gatecrashing your house warming with Blondes and Smoky, and you were ditching all your fat clothes!!

Buying a house is never straightforward. Shock at you and B having massive costly electrical problems. Blimey. And I love the rooms in Blondes house with only one socket, that must be a generational thing from when people didn't have as much to plug in?! If you remember we had our kitchen redone last May and we had thousands (not quite) of sockets put in!

And lovely Blondes, don't worry about the banana cake - it counts towards your 5 a Day Hmm Grin

Pic on fb pretty please!
It was Bebe and she is weird....

OP posts:
prettybird · 08/06/2011 18:27

Piste I'd posted a pic before I even saw this (I anticipated the request!).

Shall I mention that we live in half a nice Victorian house and have a detached garage and an attic (but not utulity room)? Grin

The garage is too full of junk bikes and wine things to be able to park the car in it - so just as well we have a large driveway, even if we do have to share it with our downstairs neighbours. Room for 5 cars if we all park neatly - and a 6th if really needed, but it is right in front of our entrance so no-one does without permission from us except occasionally when our neighbours have inconsiderate visitors

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/06/2011 19:05

mine is Edwardian London innit!
total envy at the space for 6 cars!

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 08/06/2011 19:26

thanks all Smile I'm pleased it's resolved. We have been asked to choose a moving in date, makes no difference to the executors nor our buyers as they're renting.

One of dh's other issues was the shared drive, space for 2 cars, but there's a parking bay opposite the house, whenever we've viewed there was nobody there. I'm Envy about your drive too pretty!

Housewarming still on Smile

smokinaces · 08/06/2011 19:53

Just seen on FB Blondes has had some more shitty news. Things just are crappy for that poor girl in 2011. Sad

I'm shitting it about weigh in. Havent weighed in officially for 3 weeks or so - and when I weighed on Sunday at home I'd gone to 12st 2. So hoping for some kind of loss for sure!!

bebejones · 08/06/2011 21:44

Oi! Who you calling weird?!?!?! Hmm

I have nothing to report, still bored of dieting. NEED chocolate. Made some orange curd for my mum today & it was awful. That's about it!

Trimmer - glad you got your house stuff sorted, it's so stressful.

Pretty - Envy of your drive, we have no off road parking at all, and can't even park outside our house between 8am-6pm Mon-Sat!! So stupid, it's not that narrow a road, and technically lorries etc aren't supposed to come down here!

smokinaces · 08/06/2011 22:02

My house is on a green - nice, apart from having to carry all the shopping across it in the rain, and then up my 5 front steps to my door!! Its an old fashioned 1920s council house - bathroom is a titchy extension on the back, big kitchen, small front room. I love my house though, its really become my home in the last 2 years since the ex left.

And am happy to have a boozy BBQ or something at mine in the Summer -plenty of mattresses and sofas for sleeping on with the boys at their Dads!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/06/2011 22:05

Smoky - let's all send B positive thoughts, love, hugs and virtual G&Ts....

...and yes Bebe, weird!

OP posts:
bebejones · 08/06/2011 22:08

I can so sympathise with carrying the shopping in to the house in the rain! We have 5 pretty steep steps from the road up to the path that goes to our house. When I am organised I order online so I don't have to carry it in! :o Can sense the anger of the delivery men when they knock on the door! :o We also have a titchy bathroom in an extension out the back. 2 very small front rooms & a galley kitchen, (victorian cottage) but I love my house too! :)

bebejones · 08/06/2011 22:09

I am hurt by your cruel words Piste.....hurt!!!

prettybird · 08/06/2011 22:18

Lots of hugs and positive vibes winging their way to Blondes .

If it makes you feel better, all our shopping has to be taken up stairs (22 steps including a half landing) to get to "our" half of the house.

prettybird · 09/06/2011 08:53

Happy Birthday to super slinky Piste :):)

prettybird · 09/06/2011 08:54

Oh - and I'm sure Piste will be having plenty of WineWineWine to celebrate.

Or would that be Gin? Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2011 14:11

happy birthday lovely piste :)

GettinTrimmer · 09/06/2011 14:27

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/06/2011 22:47
