Need advice please. Have done WW before (the old way) and have started PP. Have been to meetings so know that I am doing it correctly . . . but . . . nothings happening! My tummy feels slightly flatter but I am not losing any weight! It's been about 6 weeks with not a single lb lost.

There is only so long you can go on doing something that isn't working so I think I need to adjust it. I was thinking of cutting out the weekly points completely. Do you think I need to get advice from a WW leader before doing that or do you think it would be ok?

Also why the hell when I eat all my points do I not lose any weight?

Littlefish · 25/06/2011 16:01

When I started, I never used my weekly points, but then I was on a lot of points at the beginning. Some people on here say they can eat their points and still lose. Others know that if they eat them, they will stay the same.

Are you tracking online? Are you being absolutely truthful about what you're eating Wink?

Have a week when you eat only your dailies and see what happens.

PrettyMeerkat · 25/06/2011 16:10

Little Yes I am completely honest otherwise what is the point. I track in a little book that I carry around with me.

So it's not against the rules to just eat daily points?

hmc · 25/06/2011 16:19

Do you do any exercise PrettyMeerkat?

PrettyMeerkat · 25/06/2011 16:21

Yes I do. Gave it up for a few weeks but started again. It's hard to fit it in though.

Littlefish · 25/06/2011 16:32

No, not against the rules at all. The weekly points are just there to act as a "buffer", to help you stick to the plan on occasions when you know that you are going to go over your dailies. It avoids the "I've blown it today, I may as well forget it for the rest of the week and eat what I like" scenario.

If you are managing to feel satisfied with just your daily points, then that is great. How many daily points are you on?

PrettyMeerkat · 25/06/2011 16:34

29

PrettyMeerkat · 25/06/2011 16:37

The WW leader told me that you could eat the weekly points every week and however you wished. So you could have an extra 7 points every day if you wanted. It's sounding like that's not true!

hmc · 25/06/2011 16:43

It's true for some but not for others (it's true for me)....

If you've been sticking to the plan and not losing weight for several weeks your WW leader should be offering to take your tracker for the previous week and analyse it for you / with you to see if that uncovers anything

PrettyMeerkat · 25/06/2011 16:46

Lucky you Grin

I haven't been for weigh ins for a while and have just been weighing at home, but I have been sticking to it and not cheating or anything.

Think I will try just sticking to my daily points for a while and see what happens. Getting really frustrated with it, expecially seeing as I only have 8lb to lose!

NoWayNoHow · 26/06/2011 08:37

Hey all

Sorry, have only read the last few posts, but just wanted to say to prettymeerkat that if you only have a little bit to lose, then it's always harder. I would say if you've only got 8lbs to drop that you try as much as possible to stick to dailies only. That doesn't mean that you can't dip into your weekly 49 if you want to or need to, but I certainly found that when I had more to lose, I could have more of the weeklies, but the closer I got to goal, the fewer I found I could eat without sts/gaining.

For example, last week I gained 0.5lbs even though I didn't finish my weeklies, but that's because I'm at goal now (or so I believe!)

HTH

NoWayNoHow · 26/06/2011 08:38

SOrry, not "so I believe" about being at goal Confused - I definitely am, not just kidding myself! Grin

"So I believe" about gaining when not finishing weeklies

androbbob · 26/06/2011 10:29

Morning all - just a quick pop in to mark place. Not feeling too great the last few days - bit of a dodgy tum. Going for little food today in an attempt to flush it out my system.

Back tonight!

vnmum · 26/06/2011 11:32

Hope you feel better soon androbbob but on the positive, think of the weight loss Grin

welcome joanne and pretty

Thanks everyone for the congrats, it is a good feeling when you get there, I am even feeling brave enough to wear a mini skirt in this heatwave Smile

Choccybick · 26/06/2011 14:26

Hi fellow slimmers!

Didn´t actually know there was a dieting thread topic on mn.

I live in Germany and I´m currently pretending doing ww again. I keep struggling though and am writing a blog about losing weight.
aufwiedersehenfat.blogspot.com

The systems are a bit different even though theyre still called ProPoints. had to work out baked beans all by myself yesterday - and was wondering about MARMITE. I dont think its got points, has it? I mean it has no fat and i dont even use a teaspoonful.

Might pop in from time to time, if thats ok

good luck!
Choccy (probably not the best name for a diet-er but ww allows everything (smile) )

PrettyMeerkat · 26/06/2011 16:11

NoWayNoHow Yes I think you are right about it being because I am near to goal. Will have to try to stick to my dailies only (it's bloody hard!)

Choccybick I am pretty sure that there are no points in marmite.

Choccybick · 26/06/2011 17:22

Yay for marmite then Prettymeercat
shame about the toast and crumpets etc which go along with it.
Thanks - somehow I knew, but have been overdoing it lately and just wanted to make sure.

BartletForAmerica · 26/06/2011 21:11

choccybick, sadly according to the online tracker, Marmite has (from memory) 1 PP per tablespoon - just don't go crazy and it should be fine! I got the Marmite XO. It is just like Marmite used to be.

As for me, 1.6lb weight loss for me this week.

Something that has helped me is to weigh myself every day then stick it into a spreadsheet so I can see the trend go down. That way, even when I gain a little bit, I can see the general way of things and don't feel so discouraged. At the same time, weighing myself every day keeps me focused.

PrettyMeerkat · 26/06/2011 21:24

Shit! Marmite has point?! Maybe I'm thinking of the WW old way.

BartletForAmerica · 26/06/2011 21:31

'Fraid so, just gone in to check.

Marmite
1 tsp - 0 PP
2 tsp - 1 PP
1tbsp - 1 PP

PrettyMeerkat · 26/06/2011 22:31

Lucky you only need a little bit!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 27/06/2011 07:16

Hi all, hoor things are going OK for everyone. Am on phone so can't catch up properly at the moment. Have managed to track since Thursday and am currently -11 points, have eaten all weekly and exercise. Will try to stick to 29 for next 3 days and earn some extra exercise points.

Chockybick, I need you please ! We're headed your way end of July for a week, possibly two . Any idea how I can work out UK Propoints in Bienenstich as I'm going to eat lots ! Thank you.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 27/06/2011 07:23

Just seen from your blog you are in Cologne. My Mum grew up not that far and I'm seeing my cousins for the first time in 10 years (so need to be very good and stay on track for next 5 years. Have fond memories of train trips to Cologne, the stall selling Reibekuchen, Appolinaris Mineral Water and of course the Cathedral. I'm all excited now, not long till we come over.

SookieD · 27/06/2011 08:51

Help laydeez. Have been doing well but gone off the rails in the last week due to various special occasions (I refuse to pick sensible stuff when I'm out for a treat). Put on 1lb on Friday and will be lucky to STS this week. Tips to get back in the groove? (because this is always how I end up fading away from WW).

BartletForAmerica · 27/06/2011 09:39

I think the thing is to see WW not as a diet, but as a way of life. If it is a diet, when you stop, you put the weight back on. I know I do better when I write EVERY thing down. It helps me try to make better choices generally, so I don't act as if I am on or off a diet and deliberately splurge for a treat. Instead I try to make good balanced choices (so that sometimes involves chocolate or chips or whatever) but I try not to go for a 'in for a penny, in for a pound' idea.
