Anyone fancy forming a Juicemaster Club?

Hello fellow Mumsnetters,

Well, holiday booked (almost) for 2 weeks in the sun, but body far from beach ready :( Winter, chocolate munching and lots of other excuses mean the pounds have crept on and I now need to embark on serious weight loss.

I've done the Juicemaster plan before a couple of years ago with great results. I initially did it as a 3 day detox plan to help with headaches, but felt so good on it that I kept it going and went on to lose 1.5 stone in total, so I know it works.

I've booked the holiday in part as an incentive but would love some friends to do the Juicemaster plan with as added motivation and a kick up th'arse during any weak moments Wink I've tried to make a start on it a few times over the past few months but my motivation has been sadly lacking.

Is anyone else out there in a similar position and fancy giving it a go? I'm going to get the juicy supplies today and make a start tomorrow. Hoping to be 7lbs lighter this time next week!!

Whats the juicemaster plan? Sounds exciting!

atswimtwolengths · 15/05/2011 14:07

Hi Glencoe, funny seeing this, as I was just coming on here to post the same thing! I'm starting it next weekend as I can't do it this week, but plan to follow the juice, soup and salad route. I've seen some nice recipes on the Jason Vale website and I'm all excited!

The reason I thought of it was I was reading Fame and Fortune (where well known people talk about money) in The Telegraph (online) and there was an old one by Linda Barker where she said the best holiday she'd had was a detox week with Jason Vale - she came back invigorated and feeling healthy. I thought "That's what I want to feel like!"

Can we get some recipes together?

cedar12 · 15/05/2011 14:14

Hi I was just about to post the same thing as well. Also got a holiday booked for 2 weeks tomorrow!!
Really need same motivation, I have done the diet before and lost about 10lb over a few weeks. I stuck to it but had a light supper but still lost about 5lb in a week!

atswimtwolengths · 15/05/2011 14:25

What did you eat, cedar? Did you stick to juices and smoothies and soups in the day?

cedar12 · 15/05/2011 14:38

Hi I usually just had salad and fish or chicken and some fruit. juice the rest of the time.

cedar12 · 15/05/2011 14:42

Going to start tomorrow morning. Will weigh first thing I think I am about 11 st 10lb and I am 5'7". Would be great if I could get to 11st 2. My down fall is the weekends it all goes to pot!

atswimtwolengths · 15/05/2011 15:09

But really, if you did it for four and a half days per week, that would be much better than not, wouldn't it?

Did you feel a lot more energetic?

cedar12 · 15/05/2011 17:41

I did feel good after doing it last time. Maybe I will just have a little treat at the weekend and then get back on track. Not sure if I have any soup recipes in my book will have to check.

lookingforserendipity · 15/05/2011 19:13

Hi, Glencoe back here, but have changed my sign-in name. New start, new me :) I've only just managed to log in for the first time again today so it's fantastic to see like-minded friends on here.

Knackeredmother - here's the website link if you are interested in knowing a little more about it www.juicemaster.com/

atswimtwolengths and cedar12 - How uncanny that you were both going to post the same thread today. Just noticed there is a free recipe book to download on the website now if you are interested, although I have most of his books anyway. I'll start re-reading 7lbs in 7 days tonight and happy to post my favourite recipes on here.

My holiday isn't for 3 months but I want to use it as an incentive now as I am annoyed at myself for letting the weight creep back on. I am hoping to lose at least 1 stone beforehand (currently getting far too close to 10 stone, which at 5'4" is too much for me Blush).

Your support and having you working to the same plan will be a real boost I am sure. I've always just got on and done these things myself in the past but need some friends this time round....

cedar12 · 15/05/2011 21:11

Hi just been looking at the juice master website and reading 7lb in 7 days book again. The website has some good recipes on it I think I will stick to juice in the day and then have one of the soups or salad in the evening.
2 weeks tomorow till my holiday so need to do some serious juicing !! 3 months is a lot more sensible lookingforserendipity.
Hopefully if we all keep posting we can stick to it.

lookingforserendipity · 15/05/2011 22:22

Hi cedar12, glad you are up for it :)

I plan to aim for 3 days of just juices (and maybe some nuts) as a kick start. Mind you, I've set off with that thought several times over the past few months, then started with a bowl of cereal and used that as an excuse to start the next day on the juicemaster plan, then it's the next, and the next....

This time is different though, and we can all do this. Together. It'll be great to hear how your first day goes. Keep strong and dust that juicer off xx

cedar12 · 16/05/2011 09:25

Weigh in this morning 11st 11lb!! Off shopping in a bit for some supplies. Good luck for your 1st day looking for:)

Danthe4th · 16/05/2011 10:19

Just done the shred and had the detox special. weighed in at 11 stone 5'5" and want to get down to 10st 2 or if possible 9st 12 but I haven't been less than 10 stone in a very long time.
Going to make some veg soup as I love it.

Good luck everyone

lookingforserendipity · 16/05/2011 10:19

Don't you just hate those scales Angry

Enjoy your shopping trip. I feel really upbeat and excited about this. One juice down and just off to the health food shop and farm shop for extra supplies. Monday's the easiest day for me as I am at home - the rest of the week proves more tricky as I am working and often with a long commute, so I will need to be organised with my flask(s)!

Are you following the plan to the letter Cedar12 on what juices to have, or are you adapting them to your tastes? I remember making a nasty mistake with a ginger one once!

Danthe4th · 16/05/2011 10:20

Does eveyone rinse their juicer after every use or is it ok to leave it for the day, i've always rinsed it but its a right pain.

cedar12 · 16/05/2011 13:07

Not following it to the letter but I think I lost more last time when I did. Going to have one of the salads on the juice master website for tea tonight.
2 juices so far dont feel hungry yet.
I think you need to wash juicer out quick, when I have left it before all the pulp really stuck to it!

CrystalTits · 16/05/2011 13:39

Hi, only followed it for 2 days last time as I got 'juice anxiety' from having interested PILs in the house! I also found the sweet-tasting veg juices hard to drink.

Really need to kickstart my weightloss of about 7-10lbs. I found it really expensive to buy all the fruit and veg needed, £50 for all the juices recommended for the 7 days - how do you keep the costs down?

Danthe4th · 16/05/2011 21:34

3rd juice of the day, just had the beyond detox, missed out the h2o detox as had to go out, unfortunately slipped up as the ds's had chips after football and I had a few, but apart from that i've done ok.

Think I may have to go to bed early as I'm tempted to start picking. I bought some m&s salads if I get hungry but I know if I start eating i'll just keep going.

I'll check back tomorrow

lookingforserendipity · 16/05/2011 22:18

Welcome to the club Danthe4th - sounds like you have had a great juicing day.

I also found kid's teatime the most difficult part of the day - I just about managed to cook and serve up without picking at their meals! Willpower high today but I will need to have an emergency juice drink at the ready for around 4pm tomorrow I think so I don't run for the biscuit tin when I get home from work!!

I tend to clean the juicer after each use, or at the most occasionally use it for two juices, particularly if say not done the breakfast juice until mid-morning. As for keeping the cost down, I try and look out for the best days when my local Co-op shop or supermarket are trying to get rid of any excess fruit and veg and get some bargains. For juicing, they are always still perfect.

Look forward to hearing tomorrow how everyone's getting on.

cedar12 · 17/05/2011 11:47

I did post earlier but it seems to have disappeared! Off to work in a minute till 9 tonight so got to be extra good, got 2 juices to take with me and a salad.
Welcome Dane well done for sticking to it for 3 days.
Happy juicing everyone:)

Danthe4th · 17/05/2011 11:56

Just been to the gym and havnt eaten yet so just got to decide between the super detox or go for lunch with the dreamy, i'm not feeling very hungry but I know I will later if I don't have something.

lookingforserendipity · 17/05/2011 12:36

Good luck today cedar12. I have also brought juices into work - super detox for lunch and h2o detox for when I get the 4pm munchies. I also had a juice for breakfast before leaving for work. And, even better, my huband offered to clean the juicer out for me :)

Danthe4th - what day of the plan are you on? You are also doing fantastic with your exercising. Keep working towards that 9st 12 target Wink. I did 30 minutes on the cross trainer and a 20 minute power plate session yesterday. I need to be really committed and get on the cross trainer again after work or once the smalls are in bed. I am thinking it should be easier than usually as I won't eat a dinner that makes me feel lethargic and gives me an excuse not to go on it!

I am so pleased to have some friends on here to help with the motivation. It may sound silly but it is much better than telling friends who a) will be polite and say I don't need to lose any weight b) won't be juicing at the same time and c) I wouldn't want to tell them how much I weighed! I don't even tell my husband! I hope it's having the same effect for the rest of you. I think about you all each time I have a juice, or feel a pang of having something else Wink

Danthe4th · 17/05/2011 13:33

lfs- i'm only on day 2!!

i'm trying not to drink coffee as well i'm drinking flavoured teas to fill me up.

I decided something had to be done as I asked my dh to go shopping on sunday and he came home with so much chocolate and crap I went mental, enough for a month but I then ate 2 crunchies, 1 snickers, 1 caramel bar had 3 meals and could of carried on. I've recently put on 4 inches around my waist and its all blubber its horrible. You know when you wear fitted sun tops and your belly button looks huge I just couldn't face it,my size 12 jeans have gone really tight and I refuse to go up to a 14.

I've had a gym membership for years but have struggled to get there this year, always got an excuse so going to have a real go over the next few weeks. Since turning 40 3 years ago its definately getting harder to stay fit.

I do feel slightly sick though so had 2 slices of ham for lunch as well as the juice. I'm off out now so no picking.

Danthe4th · 17/05/2011 13:33

Whats the power plate like, does it do any good??

lookingforserendipity · 17/05/2011 16:54

Oh dear, it sounds like you had your nemisis moment at the weekend. Well done for putting your words into action (or your mental behaviour into the gym!)

It is so hard with there being snacks in the house for the kids isn't it?! I realised recently that I had got into the habit of buying treats for all four of us (1 husband, 2 kids and me) so it's not surprising the pounds creep on.

It sounds like you are being really disciplined. Keep it up.

Funny that - I vomited this morning. First time in years. Rather than sympathy, all I got from dh was 'you better bloody not be pregnant'. Felt ok the rest of the day though and I am sure not due to the juices Confused
