Anyone fancy forming a Juicemaster Club?

Hello fellow Mumsnetters,

Well, holiday booked (almost) for 2 weeks in the sun, but body far from beach ready :( Winter, chocolate munching and lots of other excuses mean the pounds have crept on and I now need to embark on serious weight loss.

I've done the Juicemaster plan before a couple of years ago with great results. I initially did it as a 3 day detox plan to help with headaches, but felt so good on it that I kept it going and went on to lose 1.5 stone in total, so I know it works.

I've booked the holiday in part as an incentive but would love some friends to do the Juicemaster plan with as added motivation and a kick up th'arse during any weak moments Wink I've tried to make a start on it a few times over the past few months but my motivation has been sadly lacking.

Is anyone else out there in a similar position and fancy giving it a go? I'm going to get the juicy supplies today and make a start tomorrow. Hoping to be 7lbs lighter this time next week!!

I love my power plate Danthe4th. I got it as a big treat to myself a couple of years ago and it's fantastic. I phoned up the company and they had ex-demo ones for half the normal selling price, and offered interest free credit, so it was calling out to me...

It really, really does work though in toning me up, particularly bottom and tum. I just need to get back in the routine of using it 3 times a week ideally, coupled with 2-3 sessions on the cross trainer. The only downside is that I have a habit of using it instead of my cross trainer as it's easier and I don't get sweaty on it so don't need to shower afterwards. You do really need to alternate it with aerobic exercise though.

Danthe4th · 17/05/2011 20:06

Aaaaah I want something crunchy to eat!!!

Just had a small piece of chicken and salad with no dressing and have been working my way through the h2o detox, which everyone in this house has gone "urgh whats that" to and am really craving something, just not sure what!!
I'm coeliac so no biscuits or cakes unless I make them and no bread unless its gf so I've got non in the house which helps.

Want to go for a walk but really fancy a pint of cider and thats definately not a good idea and I know thats as far as I would get, the pub!! oh and a bowl of cheesy chips, so think its another early night for me.

Check in tomorrow.

Sounds like a really tough evening. How about re-reading some Jason Vale to keep you occupied?? Well, at least you'll be well rested

PS. my mouth was watering reading your last update, you naughty girl!!

Danthe4th · 18/05/2011 06:59

I resisted last night, hope the same goes for today as i'm off out car hunting, oh fun!!!

3lb down this morning, really pleased as my tummy feels a little flatter already.

Have a good day.

lookingforserendipity · 18/05/2011 10:13

atswimtwolengths - are you still on for starting next week?

lookingforserendipity · 18/05/2011 10:26

cedar12 - how are you getting on? Have you read the Jason Vale's latest book - Juice Yourself Slim? The 7 day plan in here is based on having salads/soups of an evening and still says you lose 7lbs in 7 days

lookingforserendipity · 18/05/2011 17:22

Danthe4th - sorry, I did post a long response earlier today but it's disappeared. Like our waists hopefully ;-)

How have you got on today?

cedar12 · 18/05/2011 19:54

Hi sound like everyone is getting on well. Danethe4th Glad you resisted last night. Hope the car hunting was successful.
Still going well here stuck to even at work yesterday resisted some choccie biscuits! I think I have lost about 3lb so far.
Have been looking up some new recipes on line they sound good.

Danthe4th · 18/05/2011 21:50

Started off well with juice this morning, but I should have taken something with me, I drank a bottle of water but was hungry when I got home after the school run.

I cooked a curry for everyone they had rice I had a bit with a huge bowl of salad, but then I ate a packet of gluten free biscuits, I flipping enjoyed them but lesson learnt to be more prepared. I'm working tomorrow so will take the h20 with me.

Think we had a good day car shopping if spending £10k is good!!!

Feeling a bit down because i'm not very good at resisting when i'm tired and hungry but I haven't eaten a choc bar and only had 1 coffee in 3 days so not too bad. Will do day 2 and 3 again as i've a party on saturday night.

lookingforserendipity · 18/05/2011 22:35

Well done both of you. Danthe4th - don't be so hard on yourself. You are doing fantastic. Compare today to your Sunday blitz to remind yourself how great you are doing.

Danthe4th · 19/05/2011 21:39

I haven't had any juice today but have been ok with food, took an egg salad to work and drank plenty of water. I'm going to start day 1 again on monday.

Hope you have been ok today.

lookingforserendipity · 19/05/2011 22:51

sounds sensible Danthe4th. I've had a difficult day on it today. I had a long commute and day at work today so made a juice last night to have for breakfast, which I had at 6.30am! I then found a juice bar near work so had another juice around 2pm, and had nothing in between!! I tried to keep on the water this afternoon but difficult with meetings and only returned home at 7pm, starving!! Still determined though so made a juicemaster soup recipe which I had some of and then vomited it all back up Shock Second time being sick on this diet, and I think today this was down to just not having enough, and leaving it too long between juices. The wierdest thing though, and sorry for the details, but my mouth was really acidic for about an hour afterwards, and even drinking water was disgusting. I wonder if this was down to the juices?

Anyway, got a severe telling off by dh for 'not eating properly' so after I had recovered I had a pitta recipe from the JV book. I must admit, it was bliss having 'real' food Blush

To add insult to injury, this morning I weighed a pound more than yesterday despite being a saint on the plan for the past 3 days. What's that all about?!

Here's to a better day tomorrow

cedar12 · 20/05/2011 10:54

Hi everyone, Hope all doing well today. Weighed myself this morning and I have lost 4lb:) But the weekend is always my danger zone! going to really try though decorating tomorrow whilst dd at brownies day then work a late shift on sunday. Going to make lots of juice up every morning so hopefully shick to it. Going around a friends tonight she is cooking chilli so will jusst have a small amount but dont think I can resist a beer or a glass of wine! whats better wine or beer.

lookingforserendipity · 20/05/2011 12:27

Well done cedar12 - that's fantastic :)

I've also done a weigh in and I have lost 4lb too :) Although I was also trying to eat more healthy last week before I started the juicemaster plan so I am 6lb lighter than a week ago. Double :)

Going to put yesterday down to experience in not pushing it too far and have more regular juices today.

I would say wine over beer. Either way, enjoy x

cedar12 · 20/05/2011 16:05

Wine it is then :)

atswimtwolengths · 21/05/2011 00:15

Hi serendipity, I'm shopping for it all tomorrow and will start on Sunday. Looking forward to it, too!

Anyone know where I can get a cheap blender and juicer? My daughter's got my blender so I'll need to buy both.

Danthe4th · 22/05/2011 20:43

I find I only use my juicer for the 3 day detox, I got the philips one on Amazon when it was on offer, its fab its the one Jason Vale recommends.

I'm hoping to get back to it after a tiring weekend, need to get motivated again as I lost 4 lbs last week and I don't want to put it back on, which is what I will do if i'm not careful.

lookingforserendipity · 23/05/2011 11:05

Morning Girls :)

Regarding juicers atswimtwolengths, like Danthe4th I got the Philips one and I also find it great. In fact, my husband bought it for himself and I read the Jason Vale book that came with it, did the 3 day detox and that's what initially got me started.

Well, I have found the weekend difficult? How about the rest of you? It made me realise how hard it is to juice for all meals with a young family, when you have to retain a sense of normality and also avoid them picking up any any 'mummy's on a diet' vibes. So, I had one or two juices a day over the weekend, and had the same as the rest of the family for dinner. However, I did feel much more disciplined and in control and kept the portion sizes smaller and avoided snacking -ok, there was one slip up involved ds's oreos Blush

New week, fresh start, day at home, dh at work at kids at school so I can juice away!

Would be great to hear how the rest of you are getting on x

cedar12 · 23/05/2011 19:21

Hi everyone, well done on the weight loss. Offical weigh this morning I have lost 4.5lb.
At the weekend I just stuck to it as much as possible, but did have a chocolate brownie and some chips!!
Regarding juicers I also have a philips one and it great my mums had a few and its loads better.
Going to carry on this week but not quite as strict would be great if I could get to 11st 4lb before we go away. If the volcano dosent ruin our holiday plans!!

Danthe4th · 23/05/2011 20:56

Oh crap ive put 2lb back on as had too many ciders and just thought sod it!!!
Back to it tomorrow, i'm off down the gym to do a class in the morning so that should kick start me again.

Well done everyone else and 4.5lb is fab.

lookingforserendipity · 24/05/2011 23:11

Hi everyone, you still all sticking with it?

I feel so much better than a week ago. I needed the sharp shock to stop the chocolate munchies and too large portion sizes for meals. I've been sticking to 2 juices a day this week then a small meal for dinner. Wholemeal pasta with spinach and roasted baby tomatoes this evening. Was blissful. Not sure that wholemeal pasta should really be allowed but it really was only a very small amount and much better than regular pasta.

How are the rest of you doing today?

CrystalTits · 07/06/2011 21:01

I've reached the heaviest I've been for about 8 years and am feeling really low. Need to get on the juices and find some willpower.

Last time I did 7lbs in 7 days (I didn't even last 2 days), the sweetness of the veg-based juices made me gag. What juices do you recommend as your favourites?

PinkCustard · 13/08/2011 15:21

Is anyone still doing this?! I'm planning on starting on Monday and will be having a combination of smoothies and soups. Am looking forward to cutting out my snacking on biscuits and rubbish, and also hopefully feeling a bit more energised.
