  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONCIOUSLY
  4. STOP when you are satisfied

Here is the book on Amazon which is all you need to get started!

This is the tapping technique explained - this can be useful for cravings.

I find it much more filling than a bar of chocolate. It feels more decadent as well. I also like the ritual of making it and finding favourite mug etc

BsshBossh · 07/05/2011 20:04

Ooh, I love hot chocolate too. Mine's a Skinny Cow one from my dieting days but it is very delicious and always takes the edge off when I need something sweet and comforting (and am a little bit hungry but not hungry enough for solid food, honest!).

BsshBossh · 07/05/2011 20:10

Diversionary treats for me include knitting, reading magazines such as Red or Good Housekeeping Grazia, reading stories to DD, going for a walk, going to museums/galleries/zoo. Knitting is the best one for me - I only started last year and can still only knit scarves but it gives me something to do with my hands other than handle food. Sex is a very good treat too and is becoming much more enjoyable now I am feeling more confident about my body (beats the late night munchies!) Blush Grin.

SilveryMoon · 07/05/2011 20:13

Oooohhhhhhh Bssh I learnt to knit last year! When I gave up smoking (for a while) That is a fab idea, might have to see if I can get the hang of it again

BsshBossh · 07/05/2011 20:19

My peak munchies time is the gap between DD sleeping (7.30) and DH returning home from work (8.30/9). DH and I eat dinner together so it's always a late one on weeknights. I used to snack on crisps and chocolates during this time but now, if I get cravings and am not hungry then I knit. Has worked really well so far. Now I'm finding those cravings are not getting so bad as my stomach adjusts to needing less food but I still like to knit Smile. I find it very relaxing and often able to brainstorm work things but in a relaxed state.

TheOriginalFAB · 07/05/2011 20:49

Get me. I just turned down a choc ice as I am not hungry!

Got really bad period pain though so treated myself to some feminax Hmm.

SilveryMoon · 07/05/2011 20:50

Good for you Fab Grin well done

TheOriginalFAB · 07/05/2011 21:05

Grin thanks!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 07/05/2011 21:06

Ohhh some fab ideas & treats here! I forgot about hot chocolate - I have some of the new indulgant Options, fudge, brownie & cherry flavours! Think Im going to make one now, take it up to bed with me & enjoy my latest book :)

If you are choosing to drink a low-cal hot choc because of the flavour and not because of the cals, then its absolutely fine!

Way to go, FAB!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit, enjoy. I love going up to bed early to read a book. Never thought of taking hot chocolate with me, so that's a reason to not fill up with a dessert tonight but leave some space for a hot mug of choc Smile.

TheOriginalFAB · 07/05/2011 21:44

I will have to resist the urge to weigh myself in the morning.

PositiveAttitude · 07/05/2011 22:31

BAd evening here. Oh dear! DH has gone off to the mainland for a cycling race tomorrow, I had a row with DD4, went out this evening with the DC, food was all laid out lovely and I ended up having far too much, more because I was smarting from the row and being without DH, rather than because I was hungry at all.

I am going off to bed with my book now too, before I raid my chocolate. I really dont even want any, I feel yuck and too full from eating so much and I feel like a terrible mother.

Positive attitude will return tomorrow!

Niecie · 07/05/2011 23:00

Bad evening here too. Saturdays are always hard though. Get up late, don't eat when hungry, too much chocolate. I finally opened my Easter egg which is massive and which I have been avoiding because it is sooooo easy to just keep eating it. I don't feel full - I don't feel hungry admittedly but I am nowhere near full either.

Part of me thinks I should just eat the egg and be done with it and start properly after that. Another part of me thinks that I should just eat a little at a time according to the rules but it is a huge temptation for somebody who is new to the rules not to absent-mindly scoff it!Blush

i shall finish reading the book later to refocus my mind.

shrinkingnora · 08/05/2011 08:48

Can you divide it into reasonable portions and freeze it?

TheOriginalFAB · 08/05/2011 08:52

New day, new start. Forget the wobbles of yesterday and start again.

I have done the eat-all-the-chocolate-in-the-house before I start but it doesn't work. DH came home with 2 bars on Friday. I ate one throughout the evening and hid the other for emergencies.

I am eating slower and yesterday I left some dinner as I had had enough plus PM encourages you to leave something each time you eat to get past the clear your plate habit. It is working for me.

When is the best time to weigh myself as I have only been doing this for a few days?

shrinkingnora · 08/05/2011 09:11

Do not weigh yourself for at least two weeks! And maybe ask DH to not bring chocolate home for a bit. Would you have gone out and bought some if he had not brought it home?

Sadly, I can't forget the wobbles of yesterday as they are situated around my arse and stomach Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 08/05/2011 09:15

No, I wouldn't have gone out for chocolate. I did buy some weight watchers biscuits yesterday as I happened to see them while queuing to pay but haven't had any. I did get them out of the cupboard and then asked myself if I was hungry. I wasn't so they went back in the cupboard. I am wondering if I should measure around my tummy as a way of seeing if I am losing anything rather than weighing myself. My breasts are bigger than pre-kids so that must add loads surely Grin.

shrinkingnora · 08/05/2011 09:16

I would just go on how you feel and how your clothes feel and then weigh yourself after a fortnight. Do you feel happier with yourself? That is worth more than any weight loss. I reckon my boobs must weigh a stone each Grin

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 08/05/2011 09:21

Fab can I ask why you bought weight watchers biscuits instead of proper real ones?

whomovedmychocolate · 08/05/2011 09:35

Morning all - stop focusing on the eating, this is about feeling good about yourself. And you won't feel good if you eat crap. Honest you won't. You'll feel better if you eat food that nourishes you (providing you are hungry when you eat it). Come on everyone, you must all be starting to see results by now. Would you really want to backslide? Do you not remember how fantastic it felt to realise that your too tight clothes now fitted easily?

Have a fantastic day everyone. :)

StarlightMcKenzie · 08/05/2011 10:20

Right, well my scales have run out of battery so I guess I'll leave them alone.

I had my first day tomorrow and I ate very badly BUT I definately ate less and I was more conscious when I wasn't either hungry or that enthused with what I was eating. Sometimes I ate it anyway, but I suppose the point is that it was a conscious choice (even if a bad one) rather than unconscious.

The 20 chews thing was fine because it turns out I chew everything more than that anyway, but I had to slow my chewing.

StarlightMcKenzie · 08/05/2011 10:20

I had my first day tomorrow

doh - yesterday!

DottyDot · 08/05/2011 10:23

OK, OK, am fully here and committed! Had a terrible cake-y day on Friday and actually felt quite ill yesterday recovering - kind of like a sugar hangover...

So, starting fresh and saying the principles (and also avoiding the midget gems which are already calling to me - did some tapping and recognising I'm still full from breakfast).

Can do it....

TheOriginalFAB · 08/05/2011 10:26

wmmc - because they were the ones on the shelf. If there had been normal biscuits I wouldn't have bought any quite possibly.
