Sparkling new thread Grin

Firstly, the Golden Rules

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONCIOUSLY
  4. STOP when you are satisfied

Here is the book on Amazon which is all you need to get started!

This is the tapping technique explained - this can be useful for cravings.

Please feel free to join us :)

Silvery - eat one if you are hungry and that's what you want. Put it on a plate though and put it down between bites. If you think it's just a craving, do the craving buster? Sounds like convincing advice Grin

SilveryMoon · 06/05/2011 19:28

I'm sorry you are angry nora Sad Well done for cycling to work, that's great.
Is the craving buster the tapping thing? Will have a look at it.
I'm not hungry (I don't think) but want a biscuit.

BsshBossh · 06/05/2011 20:02

TheOriginalFAB, I've never liked PMcK's style either - I still find him a bit slimey , but his principles are basic common sense and they are working for me so I'm giving him a chance!

Pointy, I don't care whether I'm lining his pockets - I live in a a capitalist democracy where I have the choice as to whose pockets I can line Grin.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 06/05/2011 20:18

PA - that is great on the jeans, well done! :)

FAB - we are in that zone atm, shovelling food in while juggling a baby and toddler. It is hard to go slowly but I'm trying. You can do it.

TheOriginalFAB · 06/05/2011 20:32

So can you, Ali Smile.

Celestialstarlight · 06/05/2011 20:57

Howtolookgood Love the new thread intro! Sorry for being awol for ages. Will now go back and read the whole thread. Phewww lots to catch up on!

SilveryMoon · 06/05/2011 22:59

This has just struck me as a little odd and wanted to check it with everyone else (if that's ok)..........
Tonight was my 3rd night of listening to the cd and each night, the last thing I remember hearing is the 'imagine a slimmer you' bit. You know when he says to drift into the body of a slimmer you and imagine how you're standing, how you're talking etc etc.
Is it odd that I black out (for want of better term) at that point each time?

ObiWanKenobi · 06/05/2011 23:03

niecie I have started timing mouthfuls. I take one every minute so even if the food isn't chewable I'm still slow.

My problem is eating only when hungry. Made cakes today to bring to friends tomorrow and ate two to check they were ok. One is understandable (ish) but two? I should know better. I only have this problem late in the day. Yesterday evening was a disaster too. Came down from settling DD to find my husband cooking meat. I'm vegetarian so that was an unsubtle sign he was mad at me. So I went out to buy chips to punish him. How ridiculous is that? I even had chocolate after my chips. Main aim for tomorrow is to control myself in the evening.

whomoved if it helps I was partially deaf when born and they worked out when I was four as I didn't speak properly. After years of speech therapy you'd never know. In fact, some people say it's a benefit as I have less of a regional accent now.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 06/05/2011 23:04

I don't think so Silvery. I think I fall asleep at roughly the same place each time too (different place to you though). It's all still going into your brain though :)

AnyFuleKno · 07/05/2011 00:53

Hi all, just checking in, and still Pauling! My weight is coming off slowly, 1 - 2lb a week, but its ok. I've slipped up a few times but keep going back to the rules.

A little tip from me: when you think about food or when you sit down to eat, take a moment to relax your shoulders and take a calming breath. This will help you avoid going into fast eating mode, and it becomes a habit to literally relax around food.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 07/05/2011 01:29

Sounds like a good plan AnyFule, might try that one. Thanks! :) and well done on the weight loss too!

StarlightMcKenzie · 07/05/2011 01:31

Hello,

Needs some help. Need to lose some weight but am far too disorganised to stick to any plan or diet. Tried them all.

I'm also a rubbish cook, and hate fruit. (Hate all sweet things except chocolate, which I eat about once a fortnight).

So I need to keep cooking what I do already. Bursts of enthusiasm with good intentions to cook healthy, lots of waste, sod it it's rice pudding for tea again or just rice with frozen veg and grated cheese!

Is there anyway this could be the thread for me?

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 07/05/2011 01:45

I think so SM, come on in and read the thread, ask questions and feel supported :) Paul McKenna Can Make You Thin.

AnyFuleKno · 07/05/2011 01:57

SM welcome! I think this will suit you down to the ground. No organisation required

StarlightMcKenzie · 07/05/2011 02:02

Thanks. Haven't got the book or anything yet as not too sure/organised, but saw a TV episode that made lots of sense and have brought up my children to eat as much or as little as they want without pushing them to finish.

The only thing I insist on is that my 2.5 year old takes a small bite out of each food on her plate as she pretends she doesn't like anything and then badgers her dad for milk later.

SilveryMoon · 07/05/2011 04:54

AnyFuleKno, I do that too, eat to punish dp.

Obi, good tip, will def be trying it.

Well, just got up with a crying ds2 and where I'd normally hunt for food, I have just had a glass of water and am fine. Massive massive break through :-)

BsshBossh · 07/05/2011 07:35

2 week weigh in today and I've lost 4lbs. So that's 26lbs in 10 weeks - nearly 2 stones Grin. Very happy, but must keep going and stick to the basic principles and re-read the book. Onwards and upwards downwards.

SilveryMoon · 07/05/2011 07:52

Well Done BsshBossh That's great! 26lbs in 10 weeks! Hopefully it'll work that well for me too.
Is that what we're doing then, weighing ourselves every 2 weeks?
I don't own scales, but suppose I can pick up some cheapo ones.

Breakfast has been good. 1 slice of toast and a cup of hot chocolate.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 07/05/2011 09:42

You are meant to weigh once a month if at all. I get weighed at the gp surgery every two weeks officially. It's probably best not to weigh yourself really, your clothes will tell you what's happening. Yesterday, my jeans were telling me to get the smaller ones out! kept having to yank them up despite wearing a belt and despite the fact that they'd just been washed Grin

BsshBossh · 07/05/2011 09:44

SilveryMoon, there's no official way of doing it, regarding weighing in: many on this thread are not bothering with scales, instead going by how they feel and how loose their clothes are. For many, weighing in becomes an obsession so they'd rather escape the tyranny of the scales. PMcK doesn't advocate weighing in as such but suggests every two weeks if you want to do it (even better, wait for a longer gap - eg once a month).

I, on the other hand, like seeing weight loss in cold hard figures. I've hardly ever weighed myself in my life and the weight has crept on over the years so I like keeping track every two weeks.

You should do whatever suits you.

Breakfast today was chocolate croissant and a slice of cheese. Dinner last night was egg fried rice with loads of fresh veggies. Dessert was berries and a scoop of ice cream. Yum!

SilveryMoon · 07/05/2011 10:06

I'm very irritable atm. Is it due to lack of food and chocolate?
probably.

I watched that link on recognising hunger and satisfaction last night. It really helped.

I'm meeting a friend in Tesco cafe for some lunch today.

BsshBossh · 07/05/2011 10:10

Good luck at lunch, SilveryMoon Smile. Remember, you can eat chocolate!

JuicyOlive · 07/05/2011 10:14

Hi Silvery. You shouldn't be feeling irritable due to lack of food. If you are hungry you should eat remember! What is probably happening is that you are having to deal with emotions rather than comfort eat. That's where I find the CDs useful especially the Emotional Eating one.

JuicyOlive · 07/05/2011 10:16

Well done btw BsshBoshh. Really pleased for you.

SilveryMoon · 07/05/2011 10:19

Yes, it probably is emotional. My ds's (2 & 3 yrs) are really being troublesome. They have been fighting all morning over what dvd to watch aand have just had a bit of a slapping match.
Maybe I should look into buying the cd's.

I am eating when hungry, but it doesn't seem to be happening often.

Thanks girls Smile
