Well done everyone, we are all tryig even if we have slip ups. The main thing is we get back on track and keep going.
I have WI in an hour ,does anyone else feel a nervous wreck before they go? Every week I think it will be better ,but its seems worse, by the time I get to goal I will have had a breakdownBlush

herdingcats · 27/04/2011 17:29

Trying* not tryigHmm

Collision · 27/04/2011 18:04

Ugh! am going back tonight.

Have put on but I need to stop messing around and just get on with it and track properly and stop-being-sidetracked-by-choc-brownies

Any mega tips for me?

I was looking at the PP for smoked mackeral and it is 14 PP for 150g or something! Shock shame as I love smoked mackeral.

Willabywallaby · 27/04/2011 18:06

Feeling nervous here, not walking to meeting since I had a pedicure which took longer than I thought and DH wanted to go to the gym so have to wait for him to come back. Also very vigorous pedicure so don't fancy walking.

Well done you losers Grin

LolaLadybird · 27/04/2011 21:00

Well done all the losers especially Shoulders - cracking loss!

Herding - I too get nervous, also sometimes dream about it the night before (surely not normal)!Grin

All is going well now I'm back on the plan. Am enjoying that lighter feeling you get just from eating well each day rather than pigging out - can make you feel slimmer before you've even lost anything I think.

Am wondering what's happened to Blondes while I was away, will go back and read some earlier posts.

herdingcats · 27/04/2011 21:01

Well I've been ,and have lost 1.5lbs. So relieved as i was sure I would not lose anything, I am not confident in myself at all. Hoping I will find my confidence when the weight has gone.
Collision-Can you swap it for Tuna someone told me tonight that is much lower in points?
Also I have got a recipe or summer porridge (no cooking) at 4PP a good filler anytime. Let me know if anybody would like it and I will post .

LolaLadybird · 27/04/2011 21:06

Yes please to the summer porridge recipe Herding.

Have found the post about Blondes - if you are reading this, I am so sorry for your loss and hope you have lots of lovely poeple around you to help you get through the days.

TaudrieTattoo · 27/04/2011 21:12

Thanks all for the tips! Will pass them on to my dsis as she is struggling too.

I suppose that's the prob with online membership - and the beauty of mn!

CareyFakes · 27/04/2011 21:21

Ooo Summer Porridge sounds interesting, would love to see the receipe.

Well done on the losses!

froot · 27/04/2011 22:39

hmc try 30 day shred for wobbly belly - worked a treat for me!

shoulders don't make your official ww goal too low or it will cost you more ! My ww goal is 10 St 2 but my mental goal is 9 St 9 . I can go up to 10 St 7 without having to pay . This means I have a lot of leeway without having to pay up and this encourages me to keep attending . I had a big gain 2 years ago and went up to 11 so I had to pay for 3 meetings until I had lost 7 lb but then I was in the free zone again and ww actually refunded my payment as I had signed up for a monthly pass !!

Feeling fairly virtuous as though face fell into some chocolate today have made up for it by having zero point bns and carrot soup for tea followed by rhubarb and a banana . Frigging hungry now ( methinks should not have watched masterchef final ...)but am safely tucked up in bed with electric blanket on ( cold down south tonight ) and Red magazine .

froot · 27/04/2011 22:42

Will endeavour tO cut n paste old tips list on here tomorrow ( not techo enough to do a link ) for the newbies (sorry it will be a bore for the oldies) feel free to add to it it would be good to get new ideas on it !

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 27/04/2011 22:46

Well done to all the losers. I'm going tomorrow but have made the decision to finally give up my SW class and join WW properly. So have bought a monthly pass, printed off a temporary pass and will join properly tomorrow. I'm hoping the meetings will inspire me as have been flagging over the holidays.

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 27/04/2011 23:09

I like your thinking froot am just worried that if I reach a nominal goal and stop paying, i will start to slip off plan. Need to give this some thought...

hmc · 27/04/2011 23:27

Well done on losses Shoulders and Herding Smile

By some miracle occurrence I appear to have lost 2.5lbs at WI tonight - making cumulative total now 47lbs. Am very pleased (and shocked)

You think Shred might do it froot? - I'm doing quite a bit of resistance training and core work anyway plus cardio. Have a really prominent clavicle bone now which is more typical of slim women...and I am quite slim now, except for this one blimmin area of jelly belly! Have actually started googling apronectomies! Shock

malteserbunny · 28/04/2011 07:54

morning all, 1.5lb off for me this morning Smile

shoulders i did the same with my goal, set it with ww as 10st 5lb which is top of bmi but my real goal is 9st ish. I have to say i did relax abit and get a bit complacent when i reached my ww goal, but i don't think a house move helped. I am now back on track and losing again

froot · 28/04/2011 08:03

OMG hmc shred is fab. I could see a difference after 6 days. I didn't do it 30 days consecutively, did it 3-4 times per week for 10 weeks. And it is cheap and quick - it's about 24 mins including warm up and cool down but I usually fast forward those bits. In fact if I am in a real hurry I fast forward the cardio and just to the strength and abs which makes it 10 mins!!! You just need the DVD (about a fiver) 2 lb weights and a mat or towel.

The other bonus with it for me is that if I lose weight below about 10 st 4 (I am 5 foot 4 by the way) I lose it of my top half not my bum tum n thighs, and very quickly I get a really bony looking chest even if my boobs are still there. But no bony chest now - I realise that I must have built up some muscle over my chest.

Weightwatchers Propoints Survival Guide

  1. To keep points low (or for bigger portions), only mix super low fat protein (eg turkey or fish or prawns or quorn) with white carbs. Even lower is just veg. So if you have pasta, have it with a veggy or prawn sauce, same with risottos- veg only and if having a curry try to stick to vegetable curries with rice. If you are stuck in a restaurant a non- creamy prawn pasta is usually pretty low.

  2. If you want a meat sauce with rice (eg casseroles, curries etc) use a rice substitute. Use a food processor to turn courgette or cauliflower into tiny rice-sized chips and blast for 30-60 seconds in the microwave to heat (not cook) and it will have a rice-like texture. Can be mixed with a small quantity of rice or use completely instead of rice. Courgette grates well too.

  3. Butternut squash is your best friend. Mash it, stuff it, risotto it, roast it, soup it, turn it into chips ? it has zero points.

  4. Wine is your enemy...............dont know why but I think it should have double the points ww have allocated it as it has a totally sabotaging effect

  5. Philly cheese light is you next best friend! Sweet chilli flavour heated and mixed with a bit of skimmed milk makes a delicious sauce for chicken, fish or pasta. Good on ryvita (esp sweet onion ryvita), jacket potatoes etc etc. Also stir a tablespoon into mushrooms fried in frylight for creamy mushrooms on ww toast for a bargain 2 point meal.

  6. Quorn mince is not as disgusting as it sounds. If you cant bear the thought, use a pack of quorn mince and a pack of turkey mince, makes delicious chilli or spag bol sauce (really no-one will notice)and is fine in lasagne as meets requirements for point 1.

  7. Venison sausages are the lowest points sausages and tesco ones are the best ? 2 sausages 4 points and they are very filling. Venison steak is only 3 points for a pre-packed quite small steak but it is very rich and filling. Sorry bambi.

  8. Turkey bacon is extremely low -1 point for 2 rashers so if you use ww bread you can have a huge bacon butty with 4 rashers for only 4 points

  9. WW foods ? rich toffee bars are the best and the fruity fromage frais is good too. All the yogs and from frais are 1 point a pot. Malted ww bread is nice and never seems to turn mouldy!

  10. But the best ww food is the plain crème fraiche, it is miles lower fat etc than any of the other ?light? or ?reduced fat? crème fraiches and is good in cooking, for casseroles curries etc to make them creamy but also good on fruit/desserts

  11. Best chocolate hit is ww chocolate dessert, mixed with mashed up sugar free raspberry jelly ? makes a huge bowl of black foresty pudding for only 2 points

  12. Options hot chocolates ? most have only 1 point

  13. Eggs are 2 points each but 3 for 5 points! So omelettes or any egg dish is low points

  14. Freeze a muller lite yogurt for low points ice-cream

froot · 28/04/2011 08:32

hmc just re-read your post ....47 lb!!! That's bloody AMAZING ! I suppose it depends then whether the jelly belly is really just (sorry) loose skin rather than actual fat....I'm not averse to a bit of cosmetic surgery (had my eyebags done when I was 37 - ain't no exercise dvd to get rid of them!) but shred gotta be worth a try (and could save you £2995!!)

I still have some loose tummy skin due to godawful stretch marks and have to careful what knickers/bikini I wear - but my tummy is pretty flat and there is clear muscle definition particularly from the tummy button upwards.

herdingcats · 28/04/2011 10:46

Everyone is doing really well ATM . We must be spreading the positive vibes Grin
I have another 20lbs to reach my goal weight, top of BMI range for my height, but as others have said I would like to lose at least another 10lbs to be my ideal weight. I would then have a buffer to keep going for free.

SUMMER PORRIDGE
4 PP per portion
28g porridge oats or oatmeal if you like a smoother finish
70 ml Innocent smoothie of your choice
(strawberry & banana or pineapple and & coconut are good)
1 heaped TSP Total 0% Greek yoghurt
Mix all together in a bowl.
Put in the fridge overnight.
In the morning get out, and top with extra chopped fruit.
Blueberries, banana or strawberries are lovely.
N.B. the portion looks small ,but is deceptively filling once its topped with the fruit.
Let me know if anyone tries it ,and even likes it.
I took some to my meeting last night, the response there was very they liked it and wanted the recipe .

hmc · 28/04/2011 11:09

Well done on loss malteser Smile

Froot - I think there is a bit of extra skin (pregnancies later in mid thirties when skin less elastic!), but definitely an underlay of fat too in that one specific area! I'll stick at it a bit longer with exercise solutions before I consider anything more drastic!

Herding - that summer porridge recipe sounds delish. I am definitely trying that one

hmc · 28/04/2011 11:10

I might be asking for recommendations re your cosmetic surgeon though Wink -for the eye bags. And to think I always said I would grow old gracefully

ClaireDeLoon · 28/04/2011 12:30

Quick check in before I head out for lunch to say I lost 1.5lbs this week taking me to my 10% so very happy.
