Morning all!

Where's the bloody sun gone??

benbon and littlefish well done on your losses!

wizzler and lolalady commiserations, at least Awkward April is almost over so we can get back on track soon.

loublou glad you're maintaining!

froot my mother has been hassling me about my weight since I can remember (bearing in mind I was a size 8 through the whole of high school, so don't quite know what the hassling was for [skeptical]), and to this day she'll tell me I need to keep an eye on my weight in one breath, and offer me an extra piece of toast with the fry up she's made in the other. She knows I'm trying to hit goal and tone up before this wedding in a couple of weeks, yet DH and I got a massive pack of Thornton's choccies for Easter Confused. Brilliant. Thanks.

TaudrieTattoo · 27/04/2011 09:20

Thanks for the tip, Carey, and that would be brilliant, Noway.

Anyone know why one crumpet is two points, but two are five? Is it a discouraging gluttony thing?

CareyFakes · 27/04/2011 09:45

They round PP's up now. Asda's own crumpets are 4 for two whilst other ones (which weight 17g I think) are 5 for two.

It's all about weight :(

TaudrieTattoo · 27/04/2011 09:48

Thank you.

I'm struggling with this, really. I keep looking up points values, but they'll often give you a value for, say, a raw pork sausage. What's the use of that?

Everything seems high in points! 8 points for a jacket spud?

Even fish seems high. I'm perplexed.

HeyH0 · 27/04/2011 09:58

Tawdry, as I understand it, it's a rounding thing. If a foodstuff/portion works out at, say, 1.4pp then its point value is rounded down to one; on the other hand, if you have two portions of the exact same food (strictly speaking 2.8pp) then the point value is rounded up to three.

I have a confession to make re wine... I'm currently loathing the taste of it. Shock For me, this is not normal! I've bought two bottles this week, both of which I've drunk before, and only managed a sip out of each. Gah!

HeyH0 · 27/04/2011 09:58

x-post.

NoWayNoHow · 27/04/2011 10:04

tawdry, PP get round up or down now. If your crumpets are 2PP for one and 5PP for, then their ACTUAL value must be 2.3/2.4 PP for one.

Other things (like Weetabix, for example) go the other way - 2PP for one, but only 3PP for two.

Just depends.

That's why when you track it's important to have a running total of things that you eat during the day, rather than just putting things in separately.

For example, if you put in 5 different entries of 30ml semi-skimmed milk, your daily total for milk would be 0PP (because 30ml is 0PP). However, you've actually had 150ml of milk in total which is 2PP.

Also, they give you the raw values as you can potentially change the PP values in the way that you cook it. If you have a sausage and grill it, it will still have the same PP value as it did when it was raw. If you cook it in fat, however, then it's a different matter!

Most things seem like they are high in PP when you first start out, especially if you're used to the old system. But don't forget that your daily allowance is also higher, plus you have the added bonus of the 40 weeklies.

Don't be discouraged, it took me a good couple of weeks to get my head around it, but it works and it worth sticking too.

NoWayNoHow · 27/04/2011 10:05

Wow that's a lot of typos! Should have read 49 weeklies, sorry!

HeyH0 · 27/04/2011 10:15

I tend to point all spuds as 1pp per 50g uncooked weight. The online tracker causes confusion because some values are for cooked weights, 250g of cooked baked potato probably weighed 350-400g in it's raw state.

Pointing fish and meat isn't an issue for me because I don't eat them. Try playing around with the portion size drop-down in the tracker, some of the default sizes are huge... I clearly recall seeing a 500g portion of cod when I was first getting acquainted with the tools.

ClaireDeLoon · 27/04/2011 11:43

Has anyone else just gone completely off track? I am dreading WI tomorrow but I must must MUST go or I will pig again this weekend. A sneaky peak on the scales today seems to suggest I have put on 4 pounds.

CareyFakes · 27/04/2011 11:52

Lost 1.5lbs!! Bloody happy considering the festivities! That's 37.5lbs since January! Only 4.5lbs to go before I'm half way to goal and can get my hair cut and styled

tawdry I found Fish ok, I have a portion of Smoked Haddock and it's 3pp's which is plenty when served with veg and new pots.

I also swap Chicken for Turkey, only 1pp less but it all adds up

hmc · 27/04/2011 12:10

Well done on loss Carey and Littlefish (Littlefish, we started propointing at the same time in October and have lost almost identical amounts of weight!)

CDL - has anyone else gone completely off track? - yeah, just a bit, most of us it would seem!!Grin Although I am back on track as of yesterday (recording and weighing everything and sticking to my daily total again)

Tawdry - I think HeyHO is spot on re the baked potato. Weigh it and point it raw and then cook it. That goes for most food

LolaLady - tsk tsk re the 3.5lb gain (looks stern). Won't lecture you too much however since you have said you are newly motivated and determined Grin

Wizzler - don't worry about a trifling little 1/2 lb on

Good day so far today - ran a fairly quick 3 miles (and didn't feel too pooped afterwards) and had a 4 pp breakfast.....

My WI tonight and a friend wants to join WW and come along with me - which is nice....but...well, its daft of me really but now I feel the pressure of her expectations to get a good weight loss this evening - she has been very positive about my weight loss and progress..but got to keep it up (and after the past week that is not in the bag!)

Blondes on remote chance you are popping in and reading this thread sometimes - still thinking of you lots xx

CareyFakes · 27/04/2011 12:33

Am I bad in not liking my friends to join my WW group Blush. I've had 2 join up, with another 2 interested. I always arrive late because I know both of them leave before the meeting starts.

It's not because I don't like them or I feel pressured, just that it's my little piece of 'me'? I like not knowing the people and getting to know them, I like being able to talk to whoever without entertaining the friend next to me etc.

Good luck to all with WI's this week

Willabywallaby · 27/04/2011 13:16

Claire I'm expecting an almighty gain. Didn't get to weigh in last week as was in Devon which also meant I ate and drank loads. I had a 4lb loss a fortnight ago so I will be pleased if I've only put that back on.

Away at ILs this weekend so going to be hard again Sad.

hmc · 27/04/2011 13:19

Willaby - I didn't go to my WI last week either, which also influenced me to eat and drink more! I really do need the discipline of attending class...

Willabywallaby · 27/04/2011 13:20

I also had a school Mum friend who wanted to join but she's really competitive so I was pleased she never made it. Plus she doesn't need to lose weight.

I have been good with exercise this week (well since Friday), run on Saturday, spinning Monday and just been swimming.

I feel fat today though.

Willabywallaby · 27/04/2011 13:20

Off to class tonight, thinking of walking, it's only 20 mins each way, but I'll be starving on the way home!

hmc · 27/04/2011 14:00

I tend to buy those WW Bakes in class and start eating them during the talk (after I have been weighed) lest I gnaw my own hand off for want of my dinner (normally eat around 6pm but on WI day it is post class at 8pm)

Am wondering how much more my boobs will have to dwindle (they are now very modestly proportioned compared to how they were) before the stubborn residual fat on my belly goes. Physically at the moment I have very little excess fat on thighs, hips, upper arms etc and am looking, dare I say, toned - except for my friggin' stomach! It is starting to really piss me off.

MrsKwazii · 27/04/2011 14:52

Hello all, went to my second WI today and only lost 1lb but that's half a stone off already, so I'm more than happy. Have had a few wobbles this week - and it's TOTM - so I wasn't expecting a big loss again. Am really pleased, and going to redouble my efforts this week, and hope for another good result next WI too. As long as it's going down, I'll be happy Grin

Also finding this thread, and the advice on it, really helpful. And the big losses that some people have racked up just shows that it really does work long-term!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 27/04/2011 14:59

3.5 lb off today! Really pleased as that meant I got my 3 stone award! I need to decide my goal weight soon - has anyone else revised their's as they've gone along? I have 1lb to lose to get to my 'it would be nice' weight, but think I might aim for another 7lb after that. That would make my total loss 50lb which is a nice round number! [cgrin]

ClaireDeLoon · 27/04/2011 15:02

MrsK that's brilliant in two weeks massive congrats.

hmc I need the discipline of attending class too. I'm always very impressed by those that have the willpower to do it at home/online.

Willaby good luck with your WI.

ClaireDeLoon · 27/04/2011 15:03

x-post well done Shoulders :o

LittleFriendSusan · 27/04/2011 15:22

Just having a sneaky peek whilst at work...

I too have been very bad this last week. Not even going to attempt to point it up, let's just say I was well and truly off the WW wagon. Anyway, drawing a line as from today... no WI this week due to bank hols so I have till next Monday to try to recover the 1lb gain from last week and somehow manage not to put on any more... wish me luck Grin

Friend having a royal wedding party on Friday so don't hold out much hope... C25K also out of the window for a few days as friend I do that with is ill. I have however bought the 30-day Shred & 6-week sixpack DVDs so perhaps if I get cracking with them I can manage a STS. I'm really kicking myself for eating so much crap TBH as now I am just craving sugar. Ho hum.

Glad to hear that Blondes is being well looked after in RL and hope one day she feels strong enough to come back and join us here - blondes, thinking of you :)

Tawdry - I too weigh & point everything raw then just add necessary PP if using oil etc.

LittleFriendSusan · 27/04/2011 15:23

Shoulders and MrsK well done on losses especially over Easter!!

CareyFakes · 27/04/2011 15:42

Blimey Shoulders well done! Great loss!

I revised my Goal weight after I lost 2 stone. I have another 3st 10lbs to get to my goal Envy and will review it again when I've lost 4st.

Ideally I'd like to be well into the healthy range, whereas my current goal is on the upper end. Will see how I get on, but this is the last bloody time I lose weight (also the first really haha).
