Dukan diet...any success stories?

Becaroooo · 30/03/2011 13:48

I need to lose about 20-30lbs and want to feel generally healthier, have better skin and hair etc

I have got the book and am starting next week i.e. after my mothers day treat Smile

I am going on my summer holiday in 11 weeks time (so I should have been on the diet for 10 weeks or so by the time I go) and wondered if I could have some treats on my hols?

I am finding the book a bit disjointed to read tbh...I think I have the general idea and am planning to do the attack phase for 3 days - 5 if I can.

Have any of you done/are dong this diet?

Any tips????

TIA
x

I've not done it. but there is a mega thread out there somewhere with lots of success stories on it. I've thought about it, but not done it yet!

My friend did it and had remarkable results. Still looks absolutely fantastic and she did her blitz bit last summer.

Good luck! Maybe you will spur me onto thinking about it again....

So Tuesday is D day - I haven't bought the book would you recommend it ? I have the phone app - the recommendation is I lose about a stone to bring me down to 9stone 2 and I know the principles etc of what I can eat so not sure if I should bother with the book ?

Good luck next week Becaroo !

The book is good - albeit a little hard to follow at times (maybe because its been translated from the original french???)

Good luck!

I lost 4 stone on the Dukan diet from July to end of December last year, I feel amazing!
I'm on the consolidation part of the diet now and the weight is staying off nicely(in fact I lost a further 9lbs once I started it) and I get tons of compliments on my skin and hair. Best thing I ever did :)
It's not an easy diet but once you get your head round it, the weight falls off easily and I personally feel much better without too many carbs, it has taught me to view food as fuel again, rather than comfort e.t.c.
My tips: have the oatbran everyday(I have it in fat free vanilla yoghurt, can't be arsed making the galette), drink plenty of water and do the recommended amount of walking.
Also, I ate pork in the cruise phase and it didn't affect my wieght loss, I just made sure fat was cut off.
Good luck!

Becaroooo, I think you are right about it being translated, I found it a bit hard to get through but worth it anyway. Once you know what you are doing, you don't even need to look at it anymore.

wow! Well done mrspw!

I must admit I am a bit worried re; the oat bran thing as I cant have yoghurt...it looks pretty nasty stuff to eat on its own!!!

Thank you!
Right, no yoghurt, hmm...what about making oatbran porridge with water and sweetner? That might be ok :)

This forum dukan-diet.info/dukan-forum/index.php is fantastic for tips and recipes :)

I did it, VERY briefly (like 3 weeks and then I gave up - I would not recommend taking on the Dukan diet and moving home at the same time), but for the time I did, it did work and I've kept the weight off.

What helped for me is that it made me aware of how much crap carbs I was eating, and i know from sad experience that I put on weight when I eat too much bread etc. The hardest thing for me was not being able to have vegetables for the Attack phase part 1 and then not being able to have fruit. That's also why I quit. That and the moving + dukan combo

Hi I have just started Dukan again, I did a 3 month online programme for £20 a month about the same as a slimming club I guess.
I am addicted to sugary carbs (I would sell my soul for a buttered hot cross bun) and I have to break this addiction.
I lost 10 lb before Christmas then went off it at Christmas, could not get back on track, and out it all back on. Bugger.
Started Monday, have lost 4lbs. It is easy to follow really - the food is so basic - but I wonder how long I could stick it long term.
I eat an oatbran pancake every morning - 2 tbsp of oatbran, one egg and a splash of milk and sprinkle with Slenda. Lovely with a coffee. Almost as good as a hot cross bun....Hmm

That's Splenda, the sweetener!

Ooh, thanks Becaroooo. I'll have a look tomorrow.

Well, this is Day 1. Food pretty vile, but not hungry. Reckon I might be able to stay the course...

So, I am on Day 2. When I woke up, I noticed that my stomach was a lot flatter. In just one day! The food is a bit boring, but quite filling, I guess. I plan to do the Attack Plan for 10 days. Has anybody else done it for this long? Is it dangerous? How did you feel on it? Thanks Smile

The book says 10 days on attack is fine, albeit can get tedious by day 10.
The more weight you want to lose, the longer you do the attack phase for.
I start tomorrow and am doing 4 days on the attack phase as recommended by the website.
Dont know what to do re: cruise phase, though. I think I will do 1/1. I will be bored stiff of just protein by day 5!!!

It is really boring, isn't it? I am just so sick of chicken. I tried to buy some salmon yesterday, but our local supermarket didn't have any. So, chicken again tonight Sad.

On the Cruise Phase, I think you can do 5 days veg & protein and 2 days protein? So, 5 and 2? I am so looking forward to eating some vegetables!

Becaroooo · 03/04/2011 16:21

There are options for the cruise phase...so 5/5 or 1/1 or even 5/2 (but that one is if you have only got a few lbs to lose if I have understood the book correctly)

I will be doing 1/1. Cant wait to add veg and salad to the mix!

Not sure how long I will be able to survive without potatoes though Sad

So, is 1/1 better if you've got loads of weight to lose?

5/5 is what he recommends for those with 40lbs or over to lose (so, 5 days protein only/5 days protein and veg and so on).
He says 1/1 will work if you have 20lbs or under to lose (as I do) and 5/2 is good if you have stubborn lbs on thighs and hips to lose....BUT that assumes I have read it correctly!!! Smile
Its then 5 days on the consolidation phase for each lb lost.....so for 20lbs loss it would be 100 days.
Then onto the stabilisation phase.
Hope I get there quickly!

Well, I can't find Oat Bran anywhere Sad. What can I do? I don't want to get constipated. I found Bran Flakes. Can I sprinkle those on my yoghurt? I am doing so well, I don't want to give up because the unavailability of one item.

Did you try tesco bornagain?
Other places to try would be health food shops - do you have a holland and barrat or anything similar near you?
Day 1 for me...just had an oatbran pancake for bfast...was quite nice Shock
