2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

whomovedmychocolate · 16/03/2011 18:40

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

Wish him better and you happier Nevergoogle Smile

nevergoogle · 26/03/2011 11:07

thanks.
we can't change his diet until after the testing, infact we've encourage lots of gluten to make the test more likely to pick up a problem.
if they still can't diagnose i'll look into the blood type eating that you mentioned at the seminar.
feels crazy to be encouraging him to eat jam tarts and cake when he likes prunes and fresh fruit.
no date for the testing yet, but early april hopefully.

i on the other hand am not hungry yet today but very thirsty so just drinking so far. good old paul.

nevergoogle · 26/03/2011 11:08

btw he's eaten a big bowl of golden syrup porridge with raisins and a handful of muesli already today. why is he not gaining weight, gah! Sad

ktwiltshire · 26/03/2011 11:13

im so sorry, it makes complete sense why you have stopped PMing.

I am not weighing myself as after the first couple of times i hadnt lost weight, i just stopped weighing myself. my clothes are a tiny bit looser, but ive decided not to weigh myself again, unless i need to like at the docs or similar.

eating consciously has become second nature, although i must admit I am having chocolate for breakfast most days at work, but because its what i really want, i have a fudge bar, they are delicious and i enjoy every chew!!
My fridge has become inexplicably healthier, lots of grapes, cucumber, tomatos, humous, pita bread or bread from the local bakery (and no procesed bread). Now all I need is a second freezer to keep grown up food in (half my freezer has frozen roast dinners for the baby!)

WMMC - you must stay when youve reached your goal, you kick ass and are incredibly inspriational.

hope everyone has a good weekend, mine will be good on the simple principle that my DD3 said MUM!!!!!

onesandwichshort · 26/03/2011 13:05

Not got long so just a quick hello to the new people. Rookiemater - I think it depends on what you need. I have the 5 CDS and am glad of it, but mainly because there is a specific emotional eating one on there, which was very useful for me. So if you think that might be good for you, then yes.

I'm eating OK, although I did eat what I knew were too many prawn crackers last night because I was deeply tired. But I ate them consciously and left half my Chinese - and woke up hungry this morning too, so don't' think it was too bad.

WMMC - good luck with the viewings this weekend! I win on the legal dispute though - eleven years, and counting (my grandmother's estate, we are having to go to the Legal Ombudsman and all sorts, sigh).

ppeatfruit · 26/03/2011 13:43

rookie I started after seeing his T.V. progs and googling I Can make You Thin it really took off after i learnt the 'chew 20 times' rule and the hypnosis is good but you can do it without.

mycatoscar · 26/03/2011 14:26

i tried listenign to the CD last night and Paul's voice does wind me up a bit - I find myself getting easily distracted and my mind wanders so not sure it's really working

i am really concentrating on eating slowly, chewing 20 times and being aware of my hunger/fullness levels so fingers crossed some wieght comes off

its so hard to do anything liek this when you feel down, I am feeling really fed up at the moment, feel like I have no friends, am so ugly and fat - in the past I have always used this as an excuse to eat because what the hell, I may as well be really fat as well as everything else. But this time I am determined to make myself into the person I really wish I was, on the outside even if not on the inside!

rookiemater · 26/03/2011 16:03

Thanks for the responses, I enjoyed the CD so I will keep listening to it. I think I will try without the extra CDs, would be amazing if after all these years I manage to get slim for life for £1.50!

Tommy · 26/03/2011 18:55

havent had a good day today food wise. I'm so much better on my own raher than sitting with all the family!! Off out for dinner now and have no idea what we're having although I know I'll manage fine. Lost 3llbs in first fortnight but feel like I'm not really doing as well as I should.....

whomovedmychocolate · 26/03/2011 21:37

hellymelly - the spooks are not on the house particulars. Wink But it is part of the reason I want to move. Not DH though. He thinks it's bunk!

Nevergoogle - right my girl, let's go back to basics shall we. Are you listening to the CDs on a regular basis? Are you eating when you are hungry and only what you truly want to eat (even if it's chocolate eclairs) and eating consciously, or are you just sort of following it but feeling like it's a waste of time and you just can't be arsed?

Can you put aside the past and say, okay for two weeks I will do this, whether it works or not and see what happens? And eat really slowly - abnormally slowly. I'm talking half an hour over a sandwich slowly? If you can't do two weeks can you do five days? Pick a goal of getting to the end of the week without quitting and just start over. My guess is that you are half buying in and then self-sabotaging because you think it won't work. But look, don't worry - I hit this the time before when I did this and yet now it's working for me.

Am now off to read the rest of the thread.

Rookiemater welcome and yes one CD will do the job for you. :)

Nevergoogle - DD has gained four inches and no weight at all since she turned 3 (she's now 4 years and five months!) It can be normal. I hope your DS turns out to be okay or at least whatever it is can be treated quickly and painlessly. :)

BellaCullen · 27/03/2011 09:41

Hi,been doing ok.
Did my food shopping yesterday and normally by some chocolate to eat whenever am bored and crave it but didnt want any yesterday. And as I only eat 3 proper meals and have only have one snack dont need to buy so much crap snacks for me :).My kids on the other hand are constantly snacking mainly on fruit but love yoghurts and breadsticks/ricecakes,which is a pain as they go so quickly and then have to buy more. They`re like voltures[sp?].

Am loving this as not been craving chocolate so much and that is my downfall normally, having a hot chocolate drink instead now.

Nevergoogle am sure your ds is ok and as hes eating quite well wouldnt worry too much. His body is probably using everything it needs from the food and not much left for putting on weight.DS2 hardly puts any weight on but he still mainly bf even though nearly 18 months old so doesnt eat much food. But hes happy and developing well so not worried.
Gotta go be back later ds2 screaming in my ear.x

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 27/03/2011 14:28

nevergoogle I really hope you get soem answers about your poor DS x I can totally see why it is difficult for you to do this properly with food issues in your house :(

The party I went to on Friday night was really good - and I wasnt tempted by any food even when very tipsy! The host had made a big pot of stovies for the "munchy hour" lol (you know, about midnight when everyone is drunk & hungry) and even though they semlt deicious, I was not tempted. My DH even asked me to try a crisp flavour he thought was very tasty, and I only took a tiny nibble. I cant believe there was no temptation, I didnt have to talk myself out of it, the need just wasnt there. This has been a milestone fo rme, I know drinking/parties are not going to be my undoing :)

Hope everyone has a great Sunday x

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 27/03/2011 15:16

Forgot to add though, I got heaps of compliments all night! One friend took me aside to tell me how pretty, radiant & thinner I look Grin

BellaCullen · 27/03/2011 15:25

HowToLookGoodGlaikit great news on getting compliments and not munching when everyone else did. :)

Finally managed to go on wii fit again and feel much better after, although 6mins of hula hooping nearly killed me.Have lost 1lb in 6 days yay Smile,I know shouldn`t weigh myself but as starting journal tomorrow needed to know start weight.Could only do it on wii fit which I know is not accurate but need new battery for weighing scales and no idea which one it needs.

Still waiting for book better be delivered tomorrow,so desperate to start listening to CD as seems to help you all a lot.

Tommy · 27/03/2011 20:14

that's good glad....etc (sorry - already forgotten your name!!) - my real downfall is the wine Blush Once i've had a couple of glasses, I just get the munchies. How do you manage? Ireally don't wnat to stop drinking wine!

mycatoscar · 28/03/2011 09:35

never google - am so sorry, have only just reread thread and seen your post about your ds - try not to worry, and i really hope the test date comes soon. My dh's cousin has coeliac disease and grew very very slowly, but once they diagnosed it she went from strength to strength so at least you are moving in the right direction getting him tested. Will keep fingers crossed for you that it all works out.

I have been reasonably on plan over the weekend, although I have caught myself out eating mindlessly a couple of times like you look down at your plate and relaise you've been eating but cant remmeber the taste/texture etc, don't know if that sounds a bit mad Grin but have rectified it as soon as I've realised and carried on the meal slowly achewing lots etc. I havent told anyone I am doing this because I think they will either laugh or think here we go again she's on another diet. DH has been looking at my plate suspiciously but I reckon he thinks I am just being good and eating small portions. Dont think anyone else has noticed either and I did cheat and look at scales - have lost 6lbs doing a week of ww and a week of Pauling so am very very pleased. My mum is due back from abroad in about 3 weeks and I'd love her to notice me looking slimmer

Has anyone else noticed that there are foods they dont like the taste or texture of anymore? Since I started doing this I have relaised how bland and stodgy some of the food I have been cooking is - I am going to try and spice things up a bit, try out some new recipes etc - is liberating not to have to worry too much about what ingredients I use and how many points they are etc

Can anyone recommend a nice recipe book which has nice simple but tasty recipes in it which dont have massive long lists of expensive ingredients? I dont mind buying a few herbs and spices but I am on a small budget and can't be buying expensive ingredients.

ppeatfruit · 28/03/2011 10:37

Biig congrats Howto also be kind to yrself and congrats mycat i swear by the Delia Smith cookery courses You could prob pick them up on amazon 2nd hand nowadays or charity book shops etc.

mycatoscar · 28/03/2011 10:43

are they "How to cook" ones PP?

mycatoscar · 28/03/2011 10:49

ah have just looked on amazon and the Delia's complete cookery course" gets better reviews that the "how to cook" ones - will take a look in some charity shops I think as I like to look at a book before I buy it

thanks for the recommendation PP

BsshBossh · 28/03/2011 10:57

mycatoscar, we (especially DH) love cooking and use a lot of cookbooks - from complex/involved to simple/fast. Of the latter, I find Nigel Slater's books to be tasteful but easy with minimal ingredients. We use his "Appetite" and "Real Cooking" books alot and my friend recommends his "Real Fast Food". Nigella is also very good for quick, easy cooking. Congrats on the 6lb loss, by the way.

nevergoogle, you're going through a tough time, please be nice to yourself. My DD 2.8 hasn't put on weight in a year but she's full of energy and she's growing taller and eating everything so we're not worrying. I've heard that coeliac disease is quite manageable so if your DS has this then try not to worry yourself about it - lots of gluten free recipes out there and products on the shelves.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 28/03/2011 12:34

mycatoscar - Ive found that chips, sausages & garlic bread are vile once you have to properly chew them! Those are foods I loved before. I am also finding that I want a lot of flavour in my food too. I swear by my Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food cookbook - I use it every single week!

mycatoscar · 28/03/2011 13:44

how strange howtolookgood - I must admit I have gone right off specialK and also a pasta bake that I make (ww recipe)

have ordered Jamie's MOF book and will search the charity shops for some delia ones I think since they were published longer ago and might be easier to find. Watch this space - mycatoscar's kitchen is about to start tasting much better!

thanks for all the tips

whomovedmychocolate · 28/03/2011 17:47

Hello all - Well I have received a full asking price offer on the house. Haven't accepted yet though - he has something to sell and we are waiting to hear about another cash buyer who wants to move quickly before we decide :)

Mycatoscar - good luck with the culinary exploration. I'm finding I'm mad about herb salad with balsamic dressing with chicken or anything actually it's just the salad which tastes so good to me. Can recommend Delias how to cook book - it's v cheap on Amazon and covers all the basics. Mary Berry is an alternative if you like pictures.

Checking in, not been very motivated this last week. DD been poorly with vomiting bug.

Never google I hope you get some answers for DS soon.

WMMC, congrats on the house offer.

I am still struggling a bit, this week I am concentrating on eating conciously, not in front of the TV. Finding it hard. Think I see sitting down of an evening in front of the TV with some "treats" as my reward and am struggling to give it up.

Carrying on trying though.

Hello and good luck to all the new people.
