2nd thread, I know, but the first was asking Qs. So, those of us that are doing it (not many seemingly!) can moan chat here :) I am starting tomorrow (I think - seeing lady tonight) - I am 5'3" & 13st 3lb (ish) and goal is 8st (used to be 9 and to be honest was kinda chubby still, I'll see how I am at 9st and tone though)

Day three. Have not been too hungry. I seem to have lost 4lb in the first two days and my pee stick is pink (meaning I'm in ketosis?)
I hate the porrige.. so far the soups have been pretty good and I like the vanilla and butterscotch shakes. Am on a night shift this weekend so this will be the real test.
Anybody else do shifts? Got any tips?

Hey all I done 2 perfect weeks of Cambridge SS then has a surprise bday party and had to eat cake that was baked for me and drink! End result was bingeing on carbs badly the next day.. So I've now tried to redo SS and am on day4 again my message is do not slip up and have carbs it's not worth it at all it's so hard to go bk to ketosis so don't do it!!! I am around 11stone I didn't wanna know my weight and wanna be stone! Read through this all so thought I'd say hi!!! Keep it up guys! X

MrsPennySworth · 11/03/2011 22:10

Hi, can I join the thread? I'm on my first full day of sole source today (had a shake for dinner last night). I lost about a stone a couple of years ago on this using ss and that was in about 2 and a half weeks (panic before my wedding!)

I'm now trying to lose my baby weight after my third dc who is 6 months old next week. I had about 3 and half stone to lose after the birth. Have lost over 2 stone now skipping from diet to diet ! (the way I always seem to lose weight as I get bored quickly!).

But now I've booked a tummy tuck for 12th April so I'm in panic mode to lose another stone/stone and half before then!

I know ss works and I know how hard it is too so i am nervous! Just trying to focus on one week at a time and my first weigh in next Thursday.

Well done to everyone doing this so far - it is so hard but so worth it!

So my starting weight is 11 stone exactly. Hoping to be 10.7 by Thursday, fingers crossed!

princesssharona · 12/03/2011 22:19

Hi

Can I join your thread too please? Day 1 for me tomorrow and I'm a little nervous/apprehensive.

I lost four stone on LighterLife just over three years ago after the birth of my first child but a second child and slipping back into my old habits means that I've put three of that four stone back on : - (

Wish me luck, hopefully I'll be able to drop two dress sizes by June...eeeek!

wonka · 13/03/2011 09:36

oh my goodness, I cannot stop cheating now I have started! Before I know it I am pinching bits of the DSs dinner - just eaten some left over homemade meatballs! I don't even really like them.... :( I cannot remember now when I lat had a 100% day. I was 12 5 this morning but really should be about 11 5! I am NOT cheating as of right now. Joining the gym in the morning to give me something to take my mind off it and something else to keep me motivated.
Had abit of a drama ysterday - trapped my finger in the front door and passed out! Ihave never blacked out like that before - DH blamed the diet but since I cheat so much I doubt it! I am so annoyed with myself. Argh.
How is everyone else going?

OP posts:
LaylaA · 14/03/2011 22:06

Don't start cheating it's not worth it!!! I learnt that I'm not ready to add food yet as once i start I can't stop! Think about it as a liberation from having to worry about food n calories! Jus follow plan n at moments of weekness I drink lots of tea n some times hav a extra shake! Or try clothes on that didn't fit before! X

wonka · 15/03/2011 16:32

Asecret, I agree with the cup of tea when feeling weak. Scrape the kid's left overs away as soon as they have stopped eating. I've lost 8lb in my first week, can't wait until none of my clothes fit me, and think how much money you've just paid for all those diet drinks. We're still here.

MrsPennySworth · 15/03/2011 20:38

Thanks for the welcome wonka.

Cheating definitely means trouble for me lemonadedrinker! I'm on day 5 now of sole source but on Sunday we were walking past a pub and because everyone was having lunch I ended up having a plain chicken salad thinking that I would have a shake that evening and that would be it. Except I then ate a lasagne for dinner and loads of snacks after that - I completely lost it ! Got back on it properly yesterday.

I find once I eat food as well that it starts my appetite up like crazy but if I stick to the shakes I just kind of feel empty - but dont have a rumbling belly? Iykwim?

Plus now Ive had that bad day I think that has cost me 2 or 3 pounds from weighing myself ! Reckon I am on for losing 4-5 pounds by my first weigh in after one week but if I hadnt cheated it would have been more like 7-8 pounds so DONT DO IT !!! I've learnt my lesson !!

I have another friend whos decided to start it too which is good as its a bit more support!

Oh, also I am drinking tea with skimmed milk and diet fizzy drinks. I know I'm not supposed to but, tbh, they get me through the desperate times and almost feel like they fill a hole!

Off to bed for a very early night - my other new tactic to getting through the day. Sleep the hunger off!

Hope you're all having a good week.

bubblebabeuk · 16/03/2011 11:32

Had my weekly weigh in last night and was soooooo disapointed to find not lost any weight at all!!!

I have stuck to the diet 100%, My CDC says I'm overdoing the exercise, over an hour of wii fit every morning (burning up 250 calories) I've two small children under 2 which keeps me running around as well, then I've been working in my garden when they nap for two hours, and washing and hoovering all the floors.

I've been feeling a bit rough and actually threw up a couple of times. Aparently its more harmful if you do too much because your body goes into total starvation mode, and grabs and hoards any calories going in :( I've been told to either reduce my excerise or increase my calorie intake by moving upto the 810 plan, where you have the three cambridge meals as well as a real food meal.

I can drop the wii fit but I've got to get my veg patch dug over, so hoping I'll show a loss next tuesday, I really don't want to have to eat food as I know from when I did it last time it made me start craving food and cheat.

bubblebabeuk · 16/03/2011 11:36

Mrs Pennysworth it might be an idea to try the mix a mousse stuff, you can make the shakes into an angel delight type mousse with it. I also use it to make jelly with the water flavourings :) the jellys great because it doesn't feel like diet food at all.

I'm sticking mainly to the shakes, I make mine up to 3/4 pint and they really fill me up, as well as feeling like I'm getting a sugar lift. I found the bars, although quite nice, left me feeling hungry, as do the tetras.

If you have soup you can have the water flavouring jelly after it and it really feels like a complete meal :)

katiewins22 · 19/03/2011 16:46

Hello

Can I please join. Somehow - as if by magic Wink - my weight has crept up over last few months. Been eating lots of cake whilst waiting for Spring to arrive.

I have a wedding to go to at the end of May and my sister in law who weights 2 stone (I exaggeate slightly) will be there. I cannot bear to think of her looking me up and down. I also have holidays to look gorgeous for and I just thought I would give Cambridge a try.

The Cambridge lady is coming to see me on Wednesday so I will hopefully start after that. I think I have about 2.5 stone to lose. 1.5 would probably be good and would get me to the weight I was before Christmas but and extra stone would be the icing on the cake - see I am obsessed with food Smile

Reading this thread actually convinced me to contact Cambridge and I really want to get on with it now. I hope I can do it. Any hints or tips would be greatly appreicated.

The Cambridge lady said I will have different options either just shakes or shakes and a meal at night. What do you all think is best. Thanks. Katie

katiewins22 · 20/03/2011 10:01

Any cambridge people out there??

LaylaA · 20/03/2011 10:07

Yes I think all of the above are Cambridge lol x

LaylaA · 20/03/2011 10:14

Katiewins22 good luck you can definately achieve that with Cambridge I'd def reccomend doing SOle source for 2 weeks to lock start and get into ketosis - Ss is 3 products a day and Ssplus is 4 and skim milk or 3 and a 200 cal meal- I weighed in at week 3 last week n had lost 13.5 pounds and am weighing in on week 4 today but dunno if lost I stuck to plan but am very bloated - but the diet works and it's best to get into ketosis xxxxx gd luck let me kno how it goes!

katiewins22 · 20/03/2011 12:45

WOW - that is great! The 13.5lb was over 3 weeks I guess - not in one week. What does the Canbridge person do - is it just a weigh in or do they take measurements as well? I am feeling a bit anxious really- I dont know why. Thanks for your advice and I will check back in here on Wednesday. K

LaylaA · 21/03/2011 13:25

I lost that in 3 weeks yes!! n another 3 last week so 16.5! Unfortunately I binged last night ahhhhhh awful I kno :-( feel shitty today but gonna go to gym.. Cambridge person jus weighed me n gave advise on what would happen n I chose products that's it really but they should tailor it To u if u don't wanna stay long or do or wanna open up or don't then it's all up to u n usually do measure u.... I also chose not to know my weight.... Gd luck X

katiewins22 · 24/03/2011 09:06

Hello - Thanks for messages - helped me to be more determined to start and stick to it.

I saw Cambridge woman yesterday afternoon and I am a bit heavier than I thought Sad but I got loads of shakes from her. I had a soup last night and Iit was better thn I expected.

The only problem I had, and this is probably a bit shallow, but I expected the Cambridge Counsellor to look fab, be a good weight (not necessarily really really slim, just a nice weight) - but she wasn't - she is probably heavier than me - and about 4 inches shorter than me. I casually asked her does she use Cambridge and she said yes she does the maintenance programme - it sort of put me off a bit -but clearly not enough as I still bought the stuff.

I am home today from work so I have delayed having my breakfast shake. I normally have breakfast about 7am but then I get hungry mid-morning so I thouight if I have it now I might be able to have the lunchtime one a bit later and the same with the evening - otherwise I will be raiding the fridge at 9pm Wink

I went for sole source but I think I will only manage that for 2 weeks. Then I will go up to the next level. Wish me luck Grin

nikki1978 · 24/03/2011 16:12

Hi ladies,

I have some questions as DH's friend has been successful on this recently and to be honest I would like to just have the stress of eating and making the right choices taken away from me! I am 5ft 3 and 12st 10 so about BMI of 32. I lost 4 stone through calorie counting 3 years ago and have put 3 back on :(

So my questions are:-

For emotional eaters like me is Cambridge a good diet or am I more likely to put weight back on afterwards?

Did anyone have problems with loose skin afterwards? I had some on my tummy last time even though I lost weight slowly and I am scared if I lose weight fast that this will get worse.

DH's friend said she felt horrific for the first 3 days and would recommend starting when you have someone to help with the kids for those 3 days - did others find that?

Finally I HATE shakes with a passion - can I do this diet with just soups and porridge?

Thanks :)

katiewins22 · 24/03/2011 22:36

Heello Nikki

Sorry i cant help with your question as I am brand new to cambridge.

JUst an update from my earlier post. I have survived my first day but I feel really cold now (just the last half hour or so) so I am going to bed.

Secondly - my mouth tastes as though I have been chewing carboard. That is the only way I can describe it - it is a cardboard taste - is that normal?

I have found it hard and found myself nearly scooping up some pasta that hadn't been used tonight - cooked spag bol for family - it was torture - but i resisted. I dont know wheterh I am going to have the willpower to stick at this but I guess if I get a good result next week then that will motivate me.

THanks. K

bubblebabeuk · 26/03/2011 00:04

Katie - The first three days are the hardest, the feeling cold is an excellent sign your getting into ketosis, which means your burning fat, the whole idea behind the diet :) the cardboard mouth think is also normal, drink lots and lots of water, really cold water out of the fridge seems to help most.

Nikki - yes the first three days are the hardest, the easiest way to get through them is to either sleep lots or keep busy, I took the time to spring clean the kids toys and stuff like that, drink lots and lots of water. once your into ketosis you'll suddenly start to feel full of energy and feel like doing things again. so long as you don't cheat you can get into ketosis in those first three days, if you cheat you'll feel rubbish longer. once ketosis is in place you don't even feel hungry anymore, some people find they struggle to fit all three cambridge meals in, but its essential you do have all three otherwise you won't loose the weight, your body has a minimum it needs to be able to survive, the three products provide this and if you don't have them all your body will panic and think its going into starvation and hang onto everything it can.

bubblebabeuk · 26/03/2011 00:14

Sorry Nikki missed a few of your questions.............

Yes you can do the diet just on soup and porridge, after two weeks the bars are quite nice as well. you don't have bars prior to this as they have a slightly higher carb content and could knock you out of ketosis if your in the early stages of the diet.

I haven't found excess skin an issue, yes you loose weight remarkable quickly but you'll also find your energy levels suddenly increase, you'll find your doing more than you use to, be it housework, going for a walk, that kind of thing, which will encourage you to tone up any loose skin. I do 1/2 hr of Wii Fit Plus every morning and just got myself the 30 day shred DVD to try.

I too am an emotional eater, as you move up the steps of cambridge diet from sole source through to maintenance, you gradually add in specific amounts of certain foods depending on which step you are at, during this process you will learn what you can eat plentifully and what needs to be restricted and why. hopefully after a period of time on sole source removing food from your daily life as such, you should adapt to not use it emotionally.

If anyone finds it difficult sticking to sole source, after two weeks you could move up to the 810 plan which involves eating real food as well. However I found I managed better on SS because the moment I introduced real food, I found it soo hard not to fall face first into the biscuit tin :) but its all down to what works for you really.
