2nd thread, I know, but the first was asking Qs. So, those of us that are doing it (not many seemingly!) can moan chat here :) I am starting tomorrow (I think - seeing lady tonight) - I am 5'3" & 13st 3lb (ish) and goal is 8st (used to be 9 and to be honest was kinda chubby still, I'll see how I am at 9st and tone though)

Oh and well done on the 5lbs, that's amazing. If i can do that in a week I will be happy. I don't have scales at home so wont know till I weigh in on Wednesday how I am doing.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 20/02/2011 14:21

Lost 8lb now - 12st 11! So so happy to finally pass that nuber 13 on the scales, I worked my are off swimming and running and low larbing and hovered for ages at 13 and never got past it. Yesterday was a nightmare - the DSs had cake, ice cream & pizza for a treat and it was hell. But I got past it and don't feel so bad now :) It's my birthday in 3 months so hopefully will be 10st by then! I haven't been 10st in about 7 years when I was a teenager. 2 meals left for today still , trying to hold off on lunch as long as possible because evenings are the worst. I even went for a run yesterday and didn't keel over - am pretty excited that after all the years and half arsed attempts I could finally be the size I want and not feel so embarrassed and apologitic for my size! Be so so good to even get back to size 14, then 12. Grin

Wow congrats ASLD! That's brilliant, you must be so pleased.

I'm starting tomorrow. Bought my food for the week today and had a lovely meeting with my consultant. I'm 13st 3lb, I need to lose about 2 stone, and I'm looking forward to doing the diet, BUT I'm terrified of caffeine and carbs withdrawls! Will I feel like I'm going to die over the next week? I know it will be worth it but I'm still scared!

I honestly can't remember a single day in my life where I haven't had a cup of tea. Confused

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 22/02/2011 09:13

You can have tea - just no milk, no sugar Grin I had a major lapse yesterday, but still 12 10 so hopefully won't gain :( Having breakfast soon, got a long day & no chance for lunch. Good luck, it's not too bad! :)

Kari, how is it going?

ASLD, when do you have your official CD weigh in?

nannyj · 22/02/2011 22:13

OOh can i join in please? I started yesterday and came in here to start a thread. Am feeling weak but ok. I'm 19stone 11lbs so have LOADS to lose Blush, am determined though. I'm allowed four shakes because of my height but have only managed three so far. They are pretty yuck but making them thinner is helping. Fingers crossed for the next few days.

Geepers · 23/02/2011 06:43

Which shakes have you tried nannyj? I quite like all of the so far but I make them in a smoothie maker with ice so they are quite thick. By a little bit of imagination I can believe they are mcdonalds milkshakes. Also the soups are nice too.

nannyj · 23/02/2011 07:04

The chocolate ones are nice and the toffee and walnut but ddnt like the fruits of the forest. Its the gloopiness i don't like and have been doing them with a hand blender. May try soups next week. The one things i was worried i would miss would be diet coke but all right so far. It will do me good to have a break. The headaches arent that bad and thats probably more to do with carb withdrawals i reckon. Have a good day everyone!

Karia · 23/02/2011 07:35

Geepers woke up this morning convinced my brain was trying to bury itself out of my skull. Oh my life I felt vile! Made myself get up, took some paracetamol (well, flu tablets, left my paracetamol at work!) few glasses of water, shower etc and I'm feeling slightly more human. Like I said I'm a MASSIVE caffeine (tea and coke)/carbs fiend so its kicking my arse now. Very tempted to get a diet coke for the caffeine.

Had the oriental chilli soup last night - how nice is that?

Its so stupid though, I could easily drink 2l of diet coke in one day no problems but 2l of water and I feel like I'm drowning!! Grin

nannyj · 23/02/2011 09:14

Move away from the diet coke Karia Grin. My headache isnt really that bad am off to take some pills though. My goal is to get through the first week then you're supposed to feel much better.

Geepers · 23/02/2011 09:49

I still have coke zero and tea. No way could I give up them and food at the same time. I'll find out tonight if it has affected my weightloss. My fave shake is the butterscotch.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 23/02/2011 09:49

Weigh in is tomorrow night I think. Lapsed yesterday too, I've told myself never ever again. I've ripped pictures out of magazines to put up (not skinny ones!) to keep me going. Was 12 11 last night,I think I'll be more this morning.

OP posts:
nannyj · 23/02/2011 10:30

I agree the butterscotch has been the best so far. Any sugggestions with the soup?

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 23/02/2011 10:44

the chilli & chicken &mushroom are nice. Oh, & leek & potato. I'm still holding off on breakfast as I like something (usually hot chocolate!) last thing at night, soup when I do the boys dinner about 5 so can't have breakfast 'til lunch. Sipping fizzy water, hunger is back after cheating - I was fine before!

OP posts:
Geepers · 23/02/2011 17:08

Less than an hour to go until I get weighed. Please don't let me be the first CD failure.

bubblebabeuk · 23/02/2011 17:10

I started today, so thought I'd give you all a big wave Grin I'm not new to CD as i lost 3 stone 3 years ago, however since then I fitted in a divorce and two more babies Blush the youngest two are only 10 months apart so I really piled on the weight being pregnant effectively for 2 years.
So my start weight this time round is 12st 11lbs (5ft 3 and a half!) and I've chosen to do the first week using the ready mixed shakes. I'm aiming for 8-9 stone, mainly because thats the weight I'll need to be to reclaim my wardrobe :) I refuse to buy bigger clothes!
last time round, I hated all the soups, so going to not waste my time and stick to shakes this time round.......

So far no headache, or weakness, although it is day 1, so early days I guess. Has anyone else noticed how cold you feel all the time? It happened last time and I'm sat here typing wearing a dressing gown over my clothes because I'm freezing cold again.
There's loads of great ideas you can use to make your shakes a bit different, less boring but still stay on the diet without cheating.

Geepers · 23/02/2011 17:36

Oh boy, am I cold. Currently spending most of my day warming myself up with my hairdryer Blush

Karia · 23/02/2011 18:11

I successfully stepped away from the diet coke! Actually I'm using CD as a tool to break my fizzy drink habit. I must get through so many every day! Its so surprising the amount of times I've initially thought "I'm hungry" today but then recognised that I was actually thirsty! Blush. Was starving on the way home, had my soup for tea and now I'm fine. I feel great, slight headache but I think thats the carbs going.

Good luck tonight Geepers although I'm sure you won't need it Grin

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 23/02/2011 19:11

Good Luck geepers! I've just has my tomato souip - anyone else find it a nightmare to make? I made the paste but it still came out bitty Confused

Bubblebabe - same stats as me (now) !

You don't think licking a spoon'll hurt....do you....? Blush

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 23/02/2011 19:12

I get cold too. Day 2 I woke shivering and feeling ill, it was awful. Was OK once I got to work though :) And after a banana shake!

OP posts:
nannyj · 23/02/2011 20:01

Well I'm sitting here looking at two jumbo bars of cadbury milk chocolate and resisting!!! Am so proud of myself. I'm freezing and it's weird because I'm usually so hot. The shakes weren't too bad today but cam only manage three not four so I hope that's ok. I've not been hungry as such but dribbling over any food it's so funny.

Well done for not having any diet coke! I'm so addicted to it and really want to change my lifestyle too!

Karia · 23/02/2011 21:49

nannyj I watched a programme a few weeks ago that said people get addicted to diet fizzy drinks because your body expects an energy boost as a result of the sugar it thinks is in there every time you drink it. You drink it, don't get any sugar, don't get any energy and your body keeps you drinking it because it still thinks there's energy in there. Weird huh?

I have the opposite problem to you guys, I wake up really hot and sweaty, and really thirsty! Really really thirsty. I've had my 2 litres already today, and I was only asleep for about an hour, but I woke up feeling horrible. Might treat myself to a plain cup of rooibos tea later. Lucky me! Also masala chai is lovely (not sure about plain though!) and has trace caffeine in it.

I'm super craving carbs right now. I won't give in though otherwise I'll never get past wanting them! Grin

Ooh one last question, my counsellor has recommended that I eat chicken when I move on to a meal at night for the protein. Can I substitute chicken with turkey? A turkey breast per 150g has 45 grams of protein, 202 calories and 4g of fat, where chicken breast per 150g has 42g of protein and 7g of fat. Not sure of calories but think it's more than turkey. Only asking because I'm not that keen on chicken and it's not cheap.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 24/02/2011 10:33

I'm sure turkey would be fine. I normally hav that over chicken because it's cheaper and you get more, and unless plain it tastes no different to me Grin

I was 12 9 this morning, so so glad my lapse hasn't caused me to pile it back on. Weigh-in tonight, so probably going to be about 12 11 by then. I do hope it gets easier, it's so so hard when the kids are eating and I have to cook it etc. I wish I could just clear the cupboards and not have to deal with food. I wish I could have some diet coke or something to take my mind off it too! Urgh.

OP posts:
nannyj · 24/02/2011 13:13

I felt really cold and a bit shivery last night but slept well and feel weak this morning but have gotten better as the day goes on. I had to make choc chip cookies for the school bake sale this morning and didn't even lick my fingers. I'm finding the not being able to eat at all is working as i can't cheat. Can't imagine not being able to eat for weeks and weeks though. And my breath smells and i dont know what to do about it as i dont want to constantly brush my teeth all day. How's everyone else doing today?
