How important is it to eat all my points each day??

I'm really struggling to eat them all by about 10 points

Am not sure about the new points system but know about the old one as used to help in meetings. They recommended you eat as close to the points as you can otherwise your body goes into starvation mode and stores fat and then you end up wither not losing weight or putting it on.

As I say not sure about new system but would think the same sort of rules would apply? I envy you for not being able to eat them all, chuck some over my way!!!!

blowninonabreeze · 07/01/2011 22:09

Are you fairly new to it northernmonkey?

I've been doing WW since Beginning of Nov. (initially the old points but changed to propoints when they launched it)

When I'm being very very strict with myself I struggle to eat all my points (29) but on my more lax weeks I let myself snack a little more and use all the dailys. I very very rarely use my weekly points.

TBH looking back over my trackers, weight loss hasn't been noticably much better on my strict weeks than on those where I allow snacks so as times gone on I've relaxed.

mumto2andnomore · 07/01/2011 22:11

Ive only started this week and am on 29 a day which feels about right, 3 decent meals and a snack, feel hungry but not unbearable so I can see how you would struggle with 10 more.

suwoo · 07/01/2011 22:14

I am a WW leader. If you are genuinely comfortably full and are confident that you have calculated all your pp correctly, then don't worry. Use your appetite as a guide.

androbbob · 08/01/2011 09:01

Suwoo - as a leader have you noticed any correlation between using all 49 weekly points and a weightloss or using a few of them and having a bigger weightloss? I am on 29 points and use them all and use nearly all of my 49 a week. I am losing 2 pounds rgularly on average week in and week out - upto 12 pounds now. I am worried that as I get lighter (got another 2.5 stones to lose) then I will struggle to lose the weight as I am on the minimum points anyway.

I am enjoying the programme anyway = the old one as good but this works better for me!

Sorry for hijacking thread mothermonkey Grin

suwoo · 08/01/2011 09:21

They suggested during our training that the weight losses may be less if all 49 points were used. To be honest, not many of my members aren't eating the 49 Grin so it is difficult to make the comparison. Because the meetings were small in number during the 'soft' launch of the programme it is difficult to start building a picture. Now the numbers are bigger, there will be lots more scope to assess how individuals have approached it and their resulting success.

One of my gold members trialled it for 2 weeks and just ate the 29 and no more, she lost 3.5 both weeks.

HTH

androbbob · 08/01/2011 21:27

Hmm it is what I thought then. I may try it one week when I know I have nothing planned that will stop me from just sticking to my daily 29 points and see what happens. Its a bit awkward as I go to an Express class as it suits with the kids as it is lunchtime but you lose out on the chat with the leader and the other class members.

I like the new plan and it seems to be suiting me for now.

androbbob · 08/01/2011 21:29

BTW just had a nosey at your profile (as you do) and I have an 8 (nearly 9)yesr old girl and a 3 (nearly 4) year old boy!

suwoo · 08/01/2011 22:10

Ah, but do you have a menace like toddler too? Don't we have a mutual friend in PJ?

androbbob · 08/01/2011 22:26

Oh yes he is a orange haired monster who goes from loving you (as in arms around neck hanging on to you) to hating you and only liking himself in ten seconds! Grin

Oh it all comes back to me - you had sleeping problems with DS and I used your method to get my DS to sleep in his own bed - well it worked well but he still comes in my bed around 5am - he so loves his mum, bless!

I indeed know of PJ - we used to go to the same baby group with our 3 year olds. I have not seen her for a good while but heard through another friend that she is doing well and has a son of 1 (I think!)

Are you enjoying being a WW leader? I have been in and out of classes for years and seen some good and some not so good. Aldo tried Slimming World with good results but didnt stick to it (story of my dieting life!). This time will be the last time as I am diabetic (thanks to DS and DD to a small extent) and need the weight off for the good of my long term health.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2011 23:15

oh to have a spare 10pp a day Envy

maybe use full fat cheese in a sandwich/on pasta this will use up a few pp

also have a chocolate bar as a treat

use thick bread instead of medium

use semi or ff milk instead of skim

northernmonkey · 09/01/2011 09:39

Thankyou all for your replies

Yes i am fairly new to it, its only my first week this time but i have done ww in the past. I think looking over the last couple of days i'm being quite strict with myself too. As I said, I have used WW before and i'm still in the old style of thinking where we didnt have as many points. I need to have a look over what i'm eating and see if i can make up a few points by doing what Blondshavemorefun suggested.

I would love to pass some points over for those of you that want them Grin but sadly I have more points because i have a lot to lose :(
And to top it off i used 10 of my weekly points last night by going out for a meal with dh so at least i used all my points up yesterday :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2011 10:16

ooh sorry to hijack but suwoo do you mind if we keep asking you ww questions?

suwoo · 09/01/2011 17:52

Nope, go for your life.

collision · 09/01/2011 19:37

haha! Will have to think of some now!

suwoo · 09/01/2011 20:31

I might have more satisfactory answers for you as the weeks go on...........

NigellaTufnel · 09/01/2011 20:50

Can I ask, how much do people tend to lose on the ProPoints plan? I have just started, and would like to lose at least a pound a week.

I'm doing it online, and there is nothing on the website about expectations.

I could murder a creme egg.

suwoo · 10/01/2011 13:52

Well, in the 8 weeks or so since we launched it before we finished for Christmas, the losses were about 8-10lb so roughly 1 per week.

The classes (personally speaking) were populated by hardcore long term members who had already had a successful weight loss. None of them really had that euphoria inducing 7lb loss that you can get in your first week.

Weight Watchers promote a healthy weight loss of 1/2 to 2lb a week after your first few weeks. Losing 7lb in the first 4 weeks would probably be a fair predicition.

HTH

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2011 15:01

so still 1 or 2lbs a week then - same as old ww

suwoo · 10/01/2011 15:18

Yip. Not 27 stone in a day, I'm afraid. Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2011 15:24

so why did ww change it

old ww things less points but less a day

new ww things more points, most seem to have doubled yet i dont get double daily points
