Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

Hurrah! Bloomingnora - that's real progress. You are do really well. Keep it up :)

NicknameTaken · 10/02/2011 10:47

Faints at 6am shred. You're a tougher woman that I am, bloomingnora.

Deafworm, sorry things are hard, but well done at not needing to comfort eat to get through it.

I'm doing pretty well here. I swear the weighing scale needle is flickering every so slightly downwards (okay, I still weigh myself. Habit) but more importantly, food is just food. It's neither my friend nor my enemy.

Deafworm · 10/02/2011 11:05

Thanks wmmc, feeling better this morning, she has long term issues anyway and we have been yo-yoing in and out of SALT for nearly 2 years. ive spent a lot of time focusing on the positive and brushing the negative under the carpet which isnt helping her. good luck with the SALT refferal hope you get one like our old one (west midlands) the woman was self esteem in a bottle, came away from every appointment feeling like the best mum in the world :o Im a doing person so after a bit of self pity last night i am not focusing on pulling together all the advice i was given and putting it into a format i can make use of. far more constructive than a jar of cookies!

oh and thanks for the other comments i didnt notice as they were over the page!

food is just food. It's neither my friend nor my enemy. i think thats about how im feeling nicknametaken, well done its a big step isnt it. i didnt even really realise that i wasnt comfort eating till dh gave me a cuddle and offered a cup of tea and i thought normally id ask for the biscuit barrel too.

well done on the shredding and on the feeling fine about yourself bloomingnora :o

:o I got comfortably into a 20 from next, ive been living in 22-24 (but kidding myself its 18-20) for months so huge progress (please dont now all tell me next is large sized???) i decided to go with the pm thing of liking who i am now and letting that ingluence me so for the first time in my life i have underwear sets, like pretty matching sets (yep i lead a sad life!) couldnt afford them when i was slim and then i gained weight and couldnt see the point.

NicknameTaken · 10/02/2011 14:35

Hurrah for matching underwear!

Next is quite accurate sizing I reckon. M&S and sainsbury's however are a total joke....

I let myself get too hungry earlier and although I have eaten something now I am still hungry. I will give it til post school run and see if I still am. I only got too hungry because I went to listen to the CD between work and school run!

The underwire in my bra snapped this morning (puncturing my left breast ow fuck) so I need to go shopping. One bra and a sports bra is not enough! Matching sounds good although I think DH will faint....

SW consultant still has not replied.....

Deafworm · 10/02/2011 15:45

m&s and sainsburys, sized large or small?

have you had a drink to see if that helps the hunger?

ouch to the underwire, i was quite impressed with the sizing of the bras from next, never thought to try them before and 2 for £20 even at a big size, hence not minding buying sets!

i dont think my consultant replied either though she occasionally messages me with rejoining offers.

Hello everyone. I'm bloody miserable today. We rescued a cat last year and while he started out shy he quickly doubled his weight and became quite cuddly. The quite suddenly last month he bit me - so badly I had to have two weeks of antibiotics and the xray showed he had taken a chunk out of my thumb bone Shock A week later, DS was napping on the sofa and the cat got up next to him and went to sleep, DS moved his foot and the cat bit him too. Then DD, and then finally this morning he went for DH. He's bitten me every day for the last month and he is a committed biter - you have to get someone else to get him off because he hangs on for grim death.

I called the cats protection people and they said they could not take him back in the circumstances because he would not find a home and we should euthanase him. So I am really upset and fed up. :(

And I now have to (a) dig a hole and (b) take the poor bugger to the vet. :(

Deafworm · 10/02/2011 16:00

oh wmmc im sorry, thats such a shame for you all and poor cat. you have given him a really good chance to prove it was a one off though. im sure its for the best.

Thanks Deafworm. This is the fourth cat I've lost in five years. :(

Think I should stick to fish and dust bunnies. :(

NicknameTaken · 10/02/2011 17:15

Sorry, wmmc.

Deafworm · 10/02/2011 17:20

thats a shame, we had the opposite problem, our cat kept killing the fish! im not sure where in the country you are but our cat is pregnant if you decide you would like to try again with cats

sainsburys and m&s both massive. I can be a 14 on bottom at both when I am an 16-18 at next. You can match the waistbands of my sainsbury's trousers with gap/next etc and see a huge difference. Still no reply from consultant. Not sure I like that feeling to be honest.

So sorry about the cat wmmc.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/02/2011 19:05

Deafworm and everyone thanks. Cat died very peacefully at 6pm and is buried in the garden. We will get another one in a bit but not yet.

Bloomingnora - you are right about the the sizing - I'm in size 10 at M&S - given that I'm what thirty pounds overweight, I think it's a tad odd that this can occur unless they have vanity sizing Hmm which is just bizarre and makes me a little bit worried I will no longer be able to shop in regular stores when I've lost the weight.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/02/2011 19:08

DH has just said he thinks a kitten would be nice Deafworm - but I'm probably the other end of the country from you - I live in Oxfordshire.

UrsulaBuffay · 10/02/2011 19:56

Sorry about the cat wmmc :(

Yay for bras!

UrsulaBuffay · 10/02/2011 19:56

Sorry, I'm full of cold so not much with the contributing & probably a bit too much with the food.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/02/2011 20:05

I have just eaten some yummy pasta, but am now absolutely sodding knackered as carried a 35lb toddler while pushing a 32lb toddler in a buggy for three miles this afternoon. Hmm

I'm really looking forward to the seminar now, it seems like the next logical step on my journey. :)

OliveOnThePaulMcKennaBus · 10/02/2011 20:30

Sorry to hear about your cat wmmc. Hope the kids are OK with it all.

Shit - didn't realise M&S were so big. That makes me even bigger than I thought...

I have a couple of questions re meal times and such....

I'm rarely hungry at breakfast time, but I have quite an active job where I have no access to food for the morning, so I feel I have to eat my bowl of porridge so I'm not flagging mid morning. Also I'm always in a hurry and usually eat on the hoof while sorting packed lunches etc. This isn't working with the rules is it?

And then in the evening, DH comes back quite late and we don't normally eat until 9ish. And by then I'm starving. I think part of my problem is that I snack while sorting the kids' teas, but then want to eat a nice meal and spend time with DH later, so I'm eating too much. Need to get my head around that.... Maybe just make the evening meal a bit smaller. Or just eat a bit of it if I've snacked earlier?

Will be back later - off to sort out that late meal now...

whomovedmychocolate · 10/02/2011 20:36

Kids do not know about cat. There was a diversion in force while he was put in the box and I buried him in the dark while they were being read a story. Will have to tell them tomorrow.

Have you considered a smoothy with some oats in it for breakfast, you can slurp that slowly over the course of the morning (if you can get to it).

If I'm really hungry early evening and not eating till late I eat a ramekin of cereal. But then yes my evening meal tends to be smaller.

OliveOnThePaulMcKennaBus · 10/02/2011 23:39

Yes I think a ramekin of something makes sense - maybe not cereal as I find it the dullest food ever. Didn't eat until late tonight and by the time I sat down was v hungry and wolfed food down didn't eat slowly enough. It's only an issue three nights a week as I eat early one night (my night out singing in a choir) and on Fridays/weekends we eat together as a family.

Will give the smoothy idea some thought - might work if I sip discreetly on the job.

OliveOnThePaulMcKennaBus · 10/02/2011 23:39

Sorry posted too early. Thanks for the suggestions.

And good luck with the kids tomorrow.

whomovedmychocolate · 11/02/2011 07:43

Cereal does not have to be dull. But how about an oatcake with cheese on - quite filling but not big?
