2011 Paul Mckenna

Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

bloomingnora - It's her job she is not going to take it personally. I would go with 'this is not working for me. Thanks very much but I'm not continuing. Best of luck with the baby etc.' Don't get into reasons or what you are doing instead, it invites conversation. Just say 'this isn't working for me' - which is ambiguous but in a good way.

bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 19:27

I reckon she will say "Yes it is, you've lost two stone"! And I shall take your advice and remain inscrutable.... I'm going to text her now, can't be bothered to find email address and just need to do this.....wish me luck Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 19:32

Good luck - if you smacked yourself round the head with a cabbage for a long time you'd lose weight too (through the exercise of self-abuse) and yet that is not a good reason to continue with something that doesn't work for you either. Wink

bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 19:39

Did it. I just said it wasn't working for me and thank you for all the support and good luck with the baby.

If you could just bully me into starting the 90 day success journal tomorrow I'd be grateful Grin

I am using my slimming world money for a weekly gym session/class. Just have to decide which one. Gladiator training sounds suitably scary!

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 09/02/2011 19:41

lililolo - Mine threatened to come and 'challenge' PM on his NLP theory as she thinks it's bunkum. She would've 'un all - loudly!Blush I can't tell you how relieved I was when she declined. Wine

bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 19:48

I asked a friend if she wanted to come to the seminar and she said "I don't think I could spend a whole day listening to diet tips"

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 09/02/2011 19:49

Wine for blooming too - well done, it's never as bad as we think, once we grasp the nettle (says she who still hasn't replied to friend who has invited her to join SW Hmm).

Gladiator training sounds ace but then I am imagining ripped sweaty instructors in studded leather, oozing testosterone [pervy old gimmer emoticon].

Deafworm · 09/02/2011 19:50

I told mine i couldnt afford to keep coming, which in comparrison to buying one pm book at £5 was the absolute truth!!

OP posts:
bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 19:53

Hadn't even thought about that - where do I sign! [similarly pervy emoticon]

It is described as 'a high intensity non-contact fighter based exercise session for those who really want to push themselves to the limit'. Bring. It. On.

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 19:53

Right bloomingnora. I want you to go and open the journal and write 10th February at the top of the page because tomorrow is the day you are to start it. You've shrugged off the shackles of SW and now it's time to embrace your bloomingnora stylee operation thin-thighs Wink

Come on woman. If you had a winning lottery ticket would you need encouragement to get on and cash it in? Claim your future by getting started. In fact why wait for tomorrow - do it today - you only need a pen, a brain and your journal. Come on woman - you need to do this. :)

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 19:56

Ooh I did Gladiator challenge at Centerparcs which is a vertical assault course, it was so cool. Apart from bricking it the first time I had to stand on the pole sixty feet off the ground and then jump off. Go for anything that gets your heart up.

But what you have sounds very much like boxercise with more lycra Wink

bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 19:56

Fuck me, you're scary. I've done it.

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 19:59

I think I should retrain as a professional nagbag life coach what do you all think? Wink

bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 20:06

I actually think you would be brilliant, you could do NLP and everything! And make a fortune help people.

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 20:08

Well it's a thought......maybe I need to read a bit more. But thanks for the compliment. Have you done it yet? :)

bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 20:15

I did! I told you at 19:56. Please don't hurt me! I wrote it on the first page and in the bit at the back where you are meant to stick your before photo. And I am going to get DH to take a photo now.

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 20:22

Good for you! I thought maybe you'd just got it out and found a pen, but pen to paper is fab. :)

bloomingnora · 09/02/2011 20:26

I even rejected a pencil as it felt too hesitant and went and found a pen. I have taken a full length photo and a head shot. Also have one from last May when I was 3 stone heavier and breastfeeding. I look like a lactating rhino. I also no longer want to leave the house as I really hate the picture of me I have just taken. Never mind. I am off to watch Chuck and then will listen to PM and drift off to sleep. Thanks again.

mummyosaurus · 09/02/2011 20:33

I am really disappointed I can't make the seminar, it's my birthday weekend and I already have plans.

If anyone thinks of it, could you find out when the next one is? Thanks.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you all think of it, and gleaning some tips!

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 20:35

LOL at lactating rhino - been there, done that. :)

Now listen - the photo you've just taken there. Have you ever been to the gym and seen someone really fit on a running machine next to someone who is clearly not? What do you think the difference is? It's time - given time anyone can change their body for the better and you are at a starting point you are dissatisfied with and that is bloody marvellous because if you were happy with the way you are now, why the hell would you change?

You need to do the mirror exercise - I don't know if it's in the standard book. Stand in front of a full length mirror - naked ideally and look at yourself. Go through your body - what do you like? Even if there are parts of you you don't like right now, you need to accept them and say to yourself that you accept them because until you accept how you are now, you will not reach where you want to be. I know it sounds nuts but get used to your body, it's a good body - it's got the ability to change to look how you want it to. :)

whomovedmychocolate · 09/02/2011 20:36

mummyosaurus - if you sign up for updates on the website they send you an email six months before the next one, but generally there is one a year.

massively emotional evening, 2 conversations i really didnt want to have and i think ive just realised my dd2 needs a proper sn assessment, have cried and dont feel like i can go to bed, usually in bed by 10, but havent turned to food, apart from a cup of tea! so decided to share some success on that front and try to salvage some of my mood

well done for 8 days shredding itsonlyajob, shes evil!

whomovedmychocolate · 10/02/2011 07:27

itsonly - it's great that you are exercising - keep it up - I bet you feel better already? :)

Deafworm- not great that you are having to tackle problems with your daughter but congratulations on tackling them without having to fill your stomach as well as your brain with bad stuff. I hope it works out with your DD - it's so hard these days with the cutbacks to even get assessed (or so I'm told. I'm waiting for a SALT referral for my DD). Try and get a bit more sleep though, it helps you cope if you are well rested. :)

bloomingnora · 10/02/2011 08:12

Just reporting in to say - 6am shred! Decided that rather than moaning about lack of time to do exercise I am taking control and making time.

Well done on not 'eating on it', Deafworm. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time.

Looked in the mirror this morning and felt fine about me. Think the post shred endorphins helped!
