Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

i would love to go swimming, i think its one of those i know i shouldnt be embarassed. I have been trying to persaude my physio to give me a session in the hydratherapy pool, but its so overbooked its ridiculous! also now have to go to the chronic back pain clinic (waiting for appointment) and my physio doesnt want to overlap or contradict treatment so i have to wait to see what they are going to want to do with me, also have been told not to go swimming yet!! maybe when everythings a little better back and hip wise i can go back to my physio and smile some more for the hydrahreapy pool - i mainly want to use this route because i work in a hospital and i see the physio on work time, which is about the only time i have (DH works most evenings so would have to get a babysitter to go anywhere!)

ok so today has been a right off. - tomorrow is a new day Smile
CM i do have eggs, but im not keen on them, dont like the taste.

Curiousmama, I've never been dx'd with FM, but I do have a lot of pain in my limbs, so it's entirely possible. I have to add that I really don't go to see the GP about it very often as I think 'what's the point? he can't do anything.' If I hearof a treatment I haven't tried yet that the NHS can provide, I'll be there like a shot.

ktwiltshire · 20/01/2011 07:36

Morning everyone! its week 3 for me and ive lost 6lbs. not quite the 7lb i wanted, but its close enough.
Am going to listen to the CD on the way to work this morning

Hope everyone has a good day

Deafworm · 20/01/2011 08:00

well done on your losses lili and solo and kt we are going to get there, just have to keep on with its. glad you enjoyed your class solo.

kt when they say you can go, swimming can be brilliant pain relief, i have arthritis in my knees and a curved spine, sometimes im fine and sometimes its agony, the snow before christmas was a nightmare as it makes everything more painful from the cold and then harder work too. but i find swimming really helps my pain levels, we dont go very often at the moment as im concentrating on habits i can maintain when dh is away and i cant take all 3 girls swimming due to the pools under 8's rule.

Im going to weigh in tomorrow, I want a benchmark and tomorrow is my 27th birthday, the thought of being able to say on my 27th i weighed xst xlbs and on my 28th i weigh x stone less is quite motivating. not that bothered about loss tomorrow as such as its not even a full week.

If any of you would like help ridding you of the aches and pains i can help (naturally) if you're interested.

bloomingnora · 20/01/2011 08:44

Still going well here. Had a bad moment yesterday lunchtime at work (very stressy there currently and huge amounts of bicuits in the staffroom but didn't eat again for hours afterwards) but was able to squeeze in listening to the CD after work and then at supper I only needed about ten mouthfuls and then I was full! DH couldn't believe what he was seeing. I left two thirds of my meal. I then had a small fruit snack before bed a couple of hours later (but suspect that may have been thirst as much as anything) and felt fine.

I managed to listen to the Cd this morning as DS2 kindly woke me up at 6am.....

Definitely feel much better and more in control. Every time I eat something I can practically hear PM in my ear saying "...eat soooooo sloooowllllyyy..." Grin

Sounds like everyone is doing really well!

Curiousmama · 20/01/2011 09:24

Well I feel quite big at the moment but have pmt and always weigh more before my period. I'm not due to weigh myself anyway (thank goodness!)

What is it you do to help pain ppeatfruit? Do you have a website?

This morning I had half an egg fried in little oil. DS1 had eggy bread for breakfast so I used up the bit of egg left. I'm not usually hungry in the morning so only have a light breakfast usually.

Hope you all have a good day.

solo · 20/01/2011 09:37

kt, 6lbs is great! 2lbs a week which is what I've been doing since I actually knuckled down to actually doing something sensible.

Do tell ppeat, I'm always interested in natural remedies :)

Well done everyone :)

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2011 10:37

Well a quick fix is the best quality echinacea you can get. take 3 times a day. but for longer term you really have to change yr diet e.g. I follow my blood type...

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2011 10:43

I cut out most acid forming foods; these vary according to yr blood type, also do food combining (not eating high protein and carbs at same meal) great for weight loss too!..

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2011 10:49

Also eat fruit on an empty stomach (that really helped my sis's bad kees) sorry it's broken up; I can only usually post 4 lines max! i haven't got a web site.

ppeatfruit · 20/01/2011 10:54

Bad kees!! I meant bad knees!! i have thought about a blog (my family say i should write a book!)

solo · 20/01/2011 11:36

So how does the blood group one work? I've heard of it loads of times, but don't you have to go and pay for a private blood test specifically for this type of diet or have I got that wrong?

lililolo · 20/01/2011 17:36

Solo, you can buy tests really cheaply on the internet. I like the blood group diet too and very very loosely follow it. I'm a+ which is largely veggie which is handy for me as I don't eat meat!

Certainly in my family it seems true. Eating animals turns my stomach, but dh, who is 0+ gets noticably feeble if he goes a few weeks without eating. Luckily he has a hot (meat) meal at lunch as I don't like preparing it either. Dd seems similar to me, as she has never eaten meat and seems very healthy, doesn't get sick or colds often.

I've got a new quandry. How have people dealt with other people cooking for them? I have definitely been brought up to think it's rude to leave a lot of food on your plate, which I've got over at home obviously, but today I went on a playdate thing and don't know the mum very well. She had made a lot of effort for our lunch and gave me an enormous bowl of spaghetti. Miles bigger than I usually eat, and I was definitely byond full when I finished it. I decided I'd just make quite a light dinner, and actually I'm not terribly hungry so that's fine. I do worry that it's breaking the hypnosis though!

I came on this morning and so far have no chocolate cravings! Thank you Paul!

lililolo · 20/01/2011 17:40

Haha! Hilarious sentence in my post above. Spot the deliberate mistake: dh gets feeble if he goes a few weeks without eating. How suprising!

That should read: dh gets feeble if he goes a few DAYS without eating MEAT

Curiousmama · 20/01/2011 18:27

Grin I hadn't spotted that lililolo.

I was given a book recently on the blood group type diet. I'm AB+ (I think?). I posted about it on here but it was ridiculed? It said I have to be careful of stomach cancer, my sister died of that but am unsure what her blood type was?

I'm presently being checked out (xray up to now) as my feet hurt a lot. I'm only 42 so hopefully there's something that can be done to help?

Anyway enough moaning Wink For tea tonight it's pasta bake with olive bread and jam roly poly and custard for pud. I'll be consciously eating a small portion though. Usually I'd end up totally stuffed and very tired.

ktwiltshire · 20/01/2011 18:46

its roast dinner for tea tonight...yeah on a wednesday, there was a small chicken and DH is really enjoying the cooking thing at the moment so i dont want to squash his enthusiasm!

i have eaten a fair bit today, but i was genuinly really hungry so i guess thats ok? TBH i really wish i worked full time, then i would be far too busy to snack during the day like i do when im at home. bring on april...there might be some more hours going then.

solo · 20/01/2011 22:37

Lol! I did! made me chuckle! Grin

So is it just a generalisation then? if you are O+ for instance, then you follow a plan for O+ people, it's not planned specifically for each person even if they're the same group? is that right?

solo · 20/01/2011 22:52

We had tuna pasta bake tonight too. was yummy, but I'm hungry now. Feel a bit pre menstrual munchy, so could eat anything right now...

Foreverondiet · 20/01/2011 22:56

Hello... I have the book and will get round to listening to the cd at some point.

I am doing tesco diets, but will use Paul McKenna to help keep me focussed.

Have been on diet (1200 calories a day Sad since mid October. Have lost 2 stone but still another stone to go (baby weight, DS2 now 9 months old).

solo · 20/01/2011 23:03

Oooh! that's good going Forever! well done you! Envy Wink how does the tesco diet work?

lililolo · 21/01/2011 00:39

Yes, solo. They argue that there are evolutionary reasons why people of different blood groups need different diets. If you search for eat right 4 your type on amazon you'd probably get the gist from the reviews of the books.

I've been thinking today, I've lost 6lbs in two weeks. Your average of 2lbs a week is fab! I haven't once struggled with this way of eating and I look back on my years of Dieting and think "you fool!!!" i could've been doing this all along.

solo · 21/01/2011 00:51

Thanks, I will lililolo.

ppeatfruit · 21/01/2011 10:41

Lililolo it's good to meet someone who knows about the blood type. I agree with the O types NEEDING meat my DH is the same but NO wheat for him!! It makes him into a monster!!

ppeatfruit · 21/01/2011 10:45

You can get testing kits from large chemists like B**ts .I'm A as is my Mum she's 82 is on the B.T. and runs about (no arthritis) though it's in our family. same for me.
