Welcome one and all - if you're following the new WW ProPoints plan then this is the thread for you!

Whether you need to lose a little or a lot you'll be right at home, we're friendly, supportive and we're all in the same boat!

androbb is our resident stats checker and helps to track what we've lost as a thread so far, nothing more motivating then seeing just how much weight is coming off.

Feel free to dive in and join us Grin

Hi all, I hope it's not too late to join you?

I am doing WW online, in my 3rd week now. I lost 3 lbs in the first 4 days, another 3 last week and my next weigh in is Monday. I currently weigh 12.4 and would love to get to 10.7, and then maybe 10 stone one day!

I'm finding PP easy to follow, the online tracker is brilliant, has really helped me realise the amount of fatty rubbish I was eating! I am also trying to increase my exercise, I'm doing the half Moonwalk in May so am doing at least one 10 mile power walk per week. I have also bought the 30 day shred, although it has yet to be unwrapped!

I have never really joined an ongoing support thread before so hope this can help me to stay motivated!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2011 14:15

Welcome starvingmarvin hope this thread will motivate you :)

Well done on weight Lost so far

Willabywallaby · 16/01/2011 14:21

Just about to google WW meetings in my area, only following Lucky....Baa!

Willabywallaby · 16/01/2011 14:25

OK, so there's one on a Wednesday evening a mile away. Just have to pluck courage to go!

Do people do the unlimited monthly thing if they go to meetings?

Willabywallaby · 16/01/2011 14:27

I couldn't do online because I refuse to own a set of scales. I can only weigh myself at the gym.

NormaSknockers · 16/01/2011 14:53

Afternoon all,

Willaby I've done both, when I first started WW back in 2004 I went to the meetings and did really well, I was only half a stone away from goal but left due to moving house. I maintained the loss I had until I fell PG with my DD and then between her and having my DS I didn't really bother too much about losing weight as I knew I wanted another. When DS was about 6 months old I started following WW from home, I lost just under 3 stone doing it at home but it took me a long time and I would fall off the wagon for weeks at a time. I started back at the meetings when PP was launched (about 12/13 weeks ago now I think) & I'm so much happier and focused since going back to the meetings - I just personally find it more motivating and I love meeting up with the others and having a good chat and seeing how everyone's got on that week. My leader is really lovely too Grin

It's all down to personal prefrence really, everyone works best in different ways :)

I have the monthly pass as it's the cheapest option if you're going to attend meetings and also means you have full access to the esource online :)

NormaSknockers · 16/01/2011 14:57

Hello and welcome to you too Starving, well done on your loss so far - you've come to the right place for support Grin

OP posts:
NormaSknockers · 16/01/2011 15:06

Tilly I'm glad you've had something to eat now, you can't starve yourself it's no good for you. I know how gutting it is when you fall off the wagon and how it makes you feel but please try to let the guilt go, it's a completely wasted emotion and you can't change it now. You had a blip, it happens to all of us at some time or another, whatever weigh in brings just take it on the chin and aim for a good week next week. You can't be good all of the time - chin up chuck it'll be ok :)

Lucky I know it's disheartening when you lose 0.5lb but it's a loss, you didn't stay the same and you didn't gain - look at the positives. Yes it's hard work but it is that much harder when you don't have as much to lose. Look at how far you've come, look at what you've achieved so far. You're so close and it can be hard when it's within reach but seems to be taking an age to get there. You will get there, even if it's slower then you'd like.

just had a yummy M&S prawn curry for 9pp for lunch - bulked it out with some onions/peppers/courgettes and bns that i chopped up and steamed briefly

TartyMcFarty · 16/01/2011 16:03

jackaroo, I find that I'm fine on my own. I used to join up for a little while and then not turn up when I'd had a bad week (or two). Then I wouldn't go again because I didn't want to waste the money I'd have to pay for the classes I hadn't been to.

To my mind, if you've got the willpower you'll manage to lose weight whether or not you go to classes. And vice-versa.

Willabywallaby · 16/01/2011 18:21

That's what I'm concerned about, the lack of willpower...

DuplicitousBitch · 16/01/2011 18:25

i like doing it myself. once i see teh points toted up it does stop me eating and i can't pretend to myself that one little cake can't hurt.

i went running today for first time this year. so feeling much more positive.

hmc · 16/01/2011 18:29

As Norma says each to their own, I absolutely cannot lose weight on my own without attending a class - if I don't go to class my diet never starts, it is aborted by lunch time and "I'll start tomorrow" in a perpetual repetitive cycle. I have resigned myself to the fact that once I reach goal weight I will still have to attend ww to avoid regaining it all!

Gibberish, scrumptious sounding recipe, thanks for posting it I am definitely trying that out this week (I really like red cabbage). Gibb - did you also mention you generally cook lots from scratch and are finding the recipes high in points? I do too, but have found you can tweak recipes substantially - e.g. dry fry ingredients especially meat rather than use the oil demanded by the recipe, use half fat fromage frais or creme fraiche or half fat cheese, tweak the quantities downwards of the higher pointed ingredients etc. With a bit of tweaking I find I can get most recipes down by a couple of pps per portion

Lucky - sorry you are disappointed by your 0.5lbs but console yourself that you are looking hot!

Froot - small world! - I used to live in Southampton but now live between Southampton and Salisbury on edges of the New Forest. Was in Eastleigh today however - family bowling session (dh won again - sigh)

Tarty - brilliant loss you got there on Friday night, fantastic!

Sorry about your gain boodle but with a bout of mastitis who can blame you! It will be better next week.

Swapped my usual bread for WW malted bloomer bread today - 1pp per slice rather than 2pp and wish I had done that sooner. Likewise am now eating WW fromage frais and yoghurts for 1pp rather than the brands I have previously favoured. Trying to save points at breakfast and lunch time to save more for the evening when I most hungry!

hmc · 16/01/2011 18:32

Incidentally Lucky, 'arrogant man' is so sucking in his stomach in that photo!

hmc · 16/01/2011 18:34

Also forgot to say, thanks v.much blondes for that link giving pp values for old ww cookbooks - I have two of the titles mentioned

Willabywallaby · 16/01/2011 18:44

I thought 'arrogant man' was puffing out chest to prove his arrogance Grin

NormaSknockers · 16/01/2011 18:56

hmc you're not alone in there, I know I'll still need to attend the classes once I'm at goal weight to keep me on the stright and narrow!

will catch up soon but just wanted to pop in and publicly acknowledge my lovely dd who is 10 and today made a huge fruit salad for the family to share for pudding tonight. It was yummy and totally zero points - well apart from the fact I did put some squirty cream on it but that's only 1 point per table spoon Grin

LuckyLight · 16/01/2011 20:22

sweetheart I would like to high five your DD, and also send her over to mine to teach my DDs to do the same in about 5 years time.

Thanks norma and others for words or encouragement. Yes, I believe arrogant man was puffing out his chest in usual arrogant manner Hmm. Oh well, like I said, he did pay for my meal, so I shouldn't complain.

Hi willabywallaby !!!!!! . Have you decided to join us? The thread is very supportive (and active!!, unlike our now very sleepy post-natal thread....I guess it is 3 yrs!).
I would go to one meeting if I were you to get the bits you need, and find out about the new system. Try doing it yourself, and just weigh yourself at the gym once a week, at the same time (roughly) and on the same day if you can. See how you get on in one month. If you find you need more motivation then join up. Personally I find this thread far more supportive and true to life.

Maybe it's just my leader, she's very nice, but I just find what she says a bit, um, obvious. To me, anyway.

The only other reason I haven't joined in the past is cos I'm tight skint. I do begrudge paying for basically just getting weighed as I don't have time to use the esource. I don't really get anything out of the meetings. However, I was definitely more motivated when I knew I was getting weighed in public with a group of the school mums with me...my competitive side came out!

LuckyLight · 16/01/2011 20:26

Had the most gorgeous roast dinner tonight, cooked by DH (even better!). Can't believe how low points a roast dinner can be:

90g chicken (quite a lot actually!) = 3 pps
115g roast pots = 5 pps
2 small parsnip wedges = 2 pps
1 yorkshire pudding = 1 pps
Gravy = 1 pps
small glas red wine = 2 pps.
masses of zero point green veg/carrots
roasted BSquash....zero pps and really fliing.

That's just 12 pps for a huge, really filling and yummy dinner!

Did 40 min spin in the garage just beforehand too!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2011 20:26

lucky thats how i feel, i dont want to pay to get weighed, and as i work 5 days some weeks and 3 days another and evenings/nights other weeks, i wouldnt be able to go to the same meeting every week and therefore wouldnt get to know the group

hmc more than welcome, hope link helps

sweetheart what a sweetie you have for a dd :)

im having mini chicken kiefs for tea 100g = 6pp and im having 6 which is less than 150g = so calling it 8pp instead of 9 with tons of bns

androbbob · 16/01/2011 20:39

Another one popping here before I go and order the shopping - now adding melba toast and WW bread to my shopping list! I can also recommend the WW Wraps which are 3PP and I can make a filling 5PP lunch with tuna and salad or for a hot one - I put tuna and 10g grated cheese in and then folded in half and pan fried (no oil) until went crispy - delish!

norma - hopefully you and me being good will result in us losing the gain from last week and at least 1lb more! I would like to lose 2lb over the gain so I get my stone, but not banking on it!

lucky - hey - half a pound is good - its still a loss but I know how demoralising it can be. Perhaps look at what you always eat and see if you can jig it around a bit. I guess you need to trick your body - like if you do the sme exercise for ages your body gets used to it. You may get a noce surprise this week - stick at it and you will get there honest!

I too am in the will need to go to WI for my life once I get to goal. I will get there this year - I am positive about this. I dont know why this is different to any other year but I am determined Grin Together we will all get there,

Well done to all the new starters for getting on the Plan and look forward to your lovely loses next week.

Well the count is in and this week you have mananged to lose 37.5 lbs - which is 2 stone 9.5 lbs - the weight of my nearly four year old!! WELL DONE!!!

lobsters · 16/01/2011 20:43

I lost 2 lbs last week, which i was pleased with as it was DD's birthday at the weekend, so there was a lot of cake and sausage rolls.

This week I was doing really well until today, woke up with stinking cold, headache and sore throat, and generally feeling grumpy. So I've just eaten and eaten, esp some lovely cookies DH made. It also killed any prospect of going for a run today, I'm too blocked up to breathe properly during a run.

I seem to manage better at work, so hopefully it will be better tomorrow

LuckyLight · 16/01/2011 20:47

Thanks androbbob. I'm feeling much more positive tonight, and I'll certainly be getting some of those wraps as that lunch sounds yum, and I do need to eat something other than soup and omlettes Hmm.

LuckyLight · 16/01/2011 20:49

Lobsters I too am much better at work, just take in what I want to eat all day, and there is nothing else! I work on a leisure park, so we literally have KFC, McD's, pizza hut, prezzo, Nandos, Chiquitos on our doorstep, but no shop to buy choc etc. The others from work often have fast food for lunch, but I have never gone there, cos once I do it once, that will be it!
