Here go's

Age-28
Height-5ft 6in
Weight-16st 13lb
B.M.I-38

Need to lose-5st 13lb
(to be at top end of recommended weight)

Down Fall-Chocolate, Cereal, Milk Shakes, Cookies, 'Popping' to tesco for anything involves buying a bar of chocolate or a bag of cookies and eating most of them, being at home with dd all day in new village and still on a.d's so find it hard to have enthusiasm about anything..weight is making this worse

Age 32
Height 5' 7"
Weight 92.7kg (I think that's 14st 7lb but need to check)

Goal: Lose a stone for starters.

Motivation:
Don't want to be fattest Mum at the school gate.
I want DS to be proud of me.
I want to feel good about myself.
I want to wear anything from my wardrobe not just the stuff I can squeeze into.
I want to feel in control of my life.

sunnyside · 01/09/2005 23:13

Evesmama I think a diary is a great idea. Let's be brutally honest too so if we fall off the wagon (Forty choc. digestives, I'm serious too) then we say so. I reckon that telling a virtual friend might help to get us back on track.

See you tomorrow when already our bods will be reeling from the wake up call we're giving them.

Gotta wee again now....

EvesBigFatMama · 02/09/2005 08:24

GOOD MORNING!

well i am the wieght i thought i was
so now its all about geting it down.

i was your weight once id had dd sunnyside and i felt fab(lost a lot of weight when pg)but its crept on and suddenly smacked me in the face(that was my whopping belly when i jumped of the scales)

so this morning..
ive had a 'small' bowl of Alpen(sugar free), with s.s.milk and a sliced banana.
no idea if this is any good in relation to G/I diet, but its less than i would have eaten normally and wasnt laden down with sugar..so cant be too bad?

EvesBigFatMama · 05/09/2005 21:32

well i have been tryin to get the gist of G.I and going by today and how hungry i felt after not eating enough brekky..their spot on!

brekky - few spoons of dd's cheerios with skimmed milk, then about 10am one crumpet with thinly Spread reduced fat brussels pate.

Lunch two slices of best of both bread, toasted with two thin slices of cheese on each and 3 1/4 tin of low sugar low salt beans(low taste!, then a ickle plain sponge cake made by me and dd this morning

dinner - big place of pasta(al dente!!) with my own pasta bolognaise recipe..low fat, low salt..etc.etc steak mince, red onion, punnet of mushrooms, 3/4 jar of passata(no fat..good stuff), big shake of bisto and many splashes of low sugar low salt soy sauce........................
.............................
and now.......i cant move!!!

i suspect this is not G.I, but because i onlt had a bit of mince and loads of pasta..i decided to do a green day on s.w!!..i wont know wether im coming or going!!

EvesBigFatMama - I'm no GI expert but it does involve portion control apparently 1/2 your plate should be salad and veg, 1/4 should be protein and 1/4 should be carbs.

Bananas even though very scrummy have quite a high GI index, so better off with an apple or strawberries.

Cheese has a low GI but very high fat, which cancels out the low GI

Potatoes are high so try to buy new which are a little kinder and sweet potatoes are even better.

Bread - grainy bread is better, a brand called 'Bergen' (major supermarkerts) claims to be GI friendly

And pasta should be brown. Rice even though not GI friendly as such should be basmati.

On a positive note, the baked beans are good and so is the alpen

If you look at Recipe thread , Timesonline , and a messageboard

If you already know this info, then I'm sorry

Nat777 · 05/09/2005 22:13

I have no idea whether I am doing well or not, ok today is only my first day:

Breakie- 1 slice white bread, low fat spread and marmite with 1 soft boiled egg
Lunch- 1 pitta bread with 1 slice of ham, thin spread of low fat mayo, 2 slices cucumber and spring onions. 1 apple
Dinner- 4 meatballs with 4 table spoons of llyod grossmans tomtato sauce and a green salad
Supper- Slice of melon and grapes.

Do you think this is ok?

EvesBigFatMama · 05/09/2005 22:55

sounds very minimal, so must be healthy!

furball.oops..and thanks for the run down of ideas

Nat777 - You have to becareful that if you don't eat enough, your body will go in to starvation mode which will cause problems if you go back to normal eating - did your stomach feel that you had eaten enough or did you feel hungry? I think from another thread you said you are doing WW. Do you go to a class or are you just doing it at home?

Nat777 · 06/09/2005 10:30

I am not doing WW or anything similar, just eating as below and taking Adios tablets. I dont have much knowledge of diets, do you not think it is enough?

I did feel hungary between meals but just drank some water or had a fag

Furball · 06/09/2005 11:50

Nat777 - It doesn't sound alot.

Like I said to EvesBigFatMama a few lines down - 1/2 your plate should be salad and veg, 1/4 should be protein and 1/4 should be carbs. You should have a varied and balanced selection. The way to not succeed on a diet is to feel hungry, as you just can't ignore that feeling for too long and that will make you head for something you shouldn't.

I don't want to sound like a nag to anyone though, if you need more help, just ask. I have knowledge of Atkins, WW, Slimming World and GI.

Nat777 · 06/09/2005 12:34

Great, thanks for the help and advice, appreciated. I may well be back with other questions!

dabihp · 06/09/2005 13:09

brekky - cheerios(normal persons portion not fat knacker portion like i used to have), with s.s.milk and a banana later.

OP posts:
EvesBigFatMama · 07/09/2005 20:45
