Anyone following Paul Mckenna, come join me?

Hi all, I went back about 5 pages and apart from one thread asking about it couldnt see any group of people doing this and talking about it so I figured I would start a thread about it and see if anyone came and joined me?

I started a while ago, lost 6lb in the first fortnight and another 5 in the next two then started self sabotaging but in that 4 weeks i got below the weight i plateau at in every weight loss club i have ever been to so quite pleased. in the last 10 weeks since then i have gained 4lb, i could gain that in a week on most plans when i fell off so still pretty pleased but today is DAY 1 all over again, have had a lot going on the last week or two and need to feel in control of something, this seems like a really good thing to get in control with, so off i go. Anyone coming to join me?

Also anyone else have any comments on the old book vs the new book? Im very impressed with the new book, the self sabotaging bit is useful i think and having the diary built in is great. much easier to read too. i picked it up in a clearance bookstore type place for about £5 so worth looking around if youre comsidering it.

Hoping i wont be here like billy no mates for too long

Hi I've been reading a few of the messages here to find some motivation for shifting my horrible excess weight and I have just ordered the PMcK book(with dvd) from Amazon.
I should get it by end of the week.
Have tried WW, Rosemary Conley and many other diets so hoping this might work!
Bye for now

matumble · 27/07/2010 09:02

mozzamo, it is ridiculously simple on the face of it, 4 golden rules, but its the mindset changes that are hard work, have listened to the cd a lot though and have more confidence in myself and accept my body now far more than i did before so even whilst i fell off i have still gained from it.

Got the old one - what's in the new one? I'm pregnant ATM so not acticely trying to lose weight but am listening to the CD regularly simply to stop myself eating when I am not hungry as I put on 5 stone with DS1!

I am embarrassed that I need to listen to a C to know not to eat when I'm not hungry, it's sounds so obvious doesn't it!? But works for me.

matumble · 27/07/2010 09:57

Im the same penguin, just feel stupid but it makes sense, the new one has a section on self sabotage and the diary he does is also built into it for 90 days, plus its in colour bigger and better presented so easier to read

I've followed PM's basic principles for a while now. There are bits I often miss out - like the eating slowly bit. But just asking myself if I'm hungry before I eat things makes a big difference in my life.

Stick with it - once you've done it for a while it becomes part of life rather than another fad diet.

gingernutlover · 27/07/2010 11:30

i am doing this and I dont think my book has the self saboutage bit in it what is that chapter called?

My main problem in my confidence and self worth, so i do self saboutage

matumble · 27/07/2010 13:35

cant remember the chapter name, is your book this one www.amazon.co.uk/Can-Make-You-Thin-New/dp/059306092X/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=128023403 8&sr=1-5 or this one www.amazon.co.uk/Can-Make-You-Thin-Weight/dp/0593064437/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=128023 4038&sr=1-1 the second one is the one with the self sabotage section

how often do you listen to the cd gingernut? my main problem is the same as yours and i have found listening every night a help

i ctually had a breakthrough today

sat down to lunch with 2 cheese and cucumber rolls, ate one and had a bit of my cuppa then relaised I didnt really fancy the second. My friend asked why I wasnt eating it and I just said I really couldnt imagine enjoying it as much as the first.

will check out those books on amazon

gingernutlover · 27/07/2010 16:53

ah, i have the first i think, mine def doesnt come with a dvd.

do you think the chapter on self saboutage is worth a read? If so I will buy the new version, but dont really want to sepnd more if its not much different to the version i have already.

What is on the dvd btw?

ppeatfruit · 28/07/2010 14:44

Ging... you are so right about the eating slowly thing it really works! Can i join the group please? I think it's a brill diet 'cos it isn't a diet!!

ppeatfruit · 28/07/2010 14:48

I didn't know about the 2nd book either I'd be interested to find out if it's VERY different!I watch the TV progs. which pop up all over the place.

gingernutlover · 29/07/2010 07:11

hmmm yesterday I did eat chocolate and it felt so wrong, but actually i was hungry and did enjoy it. And this mroning I wake up starving and fancying special k, ah well guess it's all about balance.

PenguinNZ · 29/07/2010 09:36

LOL at Gingernutlover - sounds like you've got it nailed. But don't feel guilty! Eat whatever you want if you're hungry for it.

Somehow a very large packet of crisps has sat in the cupboard for days now whereas Ive munched through so many carrots. That has never ever happened before.

ppeatfruit · 29/07/2010 09:51

The drinking water in case your hunger is thirst is also a good idea and ginger I think a bit of black choc is good for you!

matumble · 29/07/2010 15:11

sorry its been a very busy few days, will grab the new book later and go through the new bits.

sounds like it is going well for a few of us, looking forward to my official day one and weighing in to see where i stand, its just not possible to do right now but i am following the plan so hopefully the official day 1 weight will be kind to me!

glad there are more of you, did wonder if i would be sitting on my own muttering about paul mckenna!

i keep watching the shows too ppeatfruit, was quite surprised by his sense of humour. have started a blog to keep track of this and a few other things i want to change so hoping i can keep myself going with maybe a bit of bullying from in here :D

If i remember rightly matumble PM doesn't go in for a lot or any? weighing, I don't know about you but i can always tell by my jeans if i've put on too much

matumble · 29/07/2010 19:52

once a fortnight at most he says, there is a 90 day diary in the back of the new book which has a start and end weight bit plus weigh ins every 14 days. thats what i mean by a day 1 weight, with a bit of luck that will be sometime next week. oddly sometimes i think i have lost by my jeans and havent or think i have gained and havent.

the weight is quite important to me as its what will get the midwives off my back in my next pregnancy!hoping to try for dc4 next august and need to lose between 4 and 6 stone in the meantime to be acceptable to them. if it werent for that i would be happy with dress size but i know thats not enough, nowhere near as scales obsessed as i used to be though

Iam on the PM but I also follow my Blood Type which is for health; you may be interested in it matumble eg. My DH has a lot of weight to loose and he finds it easy when cutting wheat as he is an O type.

gingernutlover · 02/08/2010 07:29

how is everyone getting on?

My first weigh in will be friday. Fingers corssed this is working.

Off to cinema with dd and soem friends today looking forward to some popcorn

had rost dinner yesterday and couldnt eat it all

ppeatfruit · 02/08/2010 13:37

You can put in the fridge and have it later (not so easy if you're out!) I do find i feel hungry sooner than before I was on the PM.

gingernutlover · 02/08/2010 16:32

ah well my cat was very happy since it was roast chicken that I left

I know what you mean, I find I am eating little and often.

Fingers crossed for friday tht this is working.

Earlier i had a handful of nuts and raisins in the cinema as I didnt fancy popcorn and then most of a thin crust pizza for lunch at frankie and bennies starting to feel peckish now and was planning toad in the hole for dinner so think I will make it for dh and dd and just eat a small portion - with gravy or with ketchup though? Hmmmmmmm

matumble · 03/08/2010 01:50

sorry to have dissapeared, its been a very busy few days. still havent got to pulling the self sabotage bit out properly. dd1 and 2 are going to their grandparents at the weekend so if i havent got to it by then i will do it in one of dd3s naps early next week!

weighed in today as day 1, 16st2lb, my aim is to be 10st by 15th august next year. thanks for the blood type heads up ppeatfruit, going to stick just to PM for now but will remember it. cant cope with more than one thing at once!

sounds like you are doing well gingernut, good luck for friday. love that your cat is enjoying your weightloss too!

as you can see im having real trouble sleeping tonight, DH is on nights and i have a million things in my head, going to see if i can use the PM inductions to send me to sleep!

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 03/08/2010 08:28

Hope you slept Ma; the 'tapping' is amazing I conquered my choc cravings yesterday and I was TIRED.

matumble · 03/08/2010 21:21

thanks, got to sleep around 3am, tired but ok today. dh is on nights again and this is my danger time, i overate a bit at lunch and dinner, wasnt paying attention properly but now im resisting the urge to comfort eat. doing quite well on my own but may go with tapping if it keeps on.

May I join? And ask for tips?

I've tried this in the past and it workded. Then I got complacent and thought I could adapt it and it didn't work.

My main problems are:

eating consciously. After years of inhaling meals at top speed in the rare moments a baby wasn't in my arms, I am the fastest eater I know. I also feel I have so many things to do that I have the urge to multi-task when I eat (at least read, computer or television) and then obviously I overeat and don't register properly that I have eaten.

I also seem not to be able to trust "eat what you want" so I have something "healthy/good" and then bluff myself that it didn't count and I can still have a small amount of ,...

I also have the occasional "mad moment" when I ransack the kitchen. Once I have one of these I eat A LOT and it really doesn't register.

Any tips to avoid any or all of these traps?

I've never really wanted to confess my weight for the whole world to see but I have to concede doing it on my own really isn't working. I am 11 st 1 and have lost and regained the same 6 pounds about 50 times in the past year. My first goal is therefore to get to 10 st 7.
