Lost on MJ maintaining on Wegovy but need/want to lose a stone

I lost 5st ish on Mounjaro, upping dose every 4 weeks until I stayed on 12.5mg to maintain for a year, reduced down to 7.5mg I think and switched to Wegovy when prices increased. Over Xmas/new year 2025/26 I gained approx 7lb or so and now seem stuck. I'm on 2.4mg Wegovy and I really want to lose 7-14lb to get down to my lower weight and have a little margin of error. I'm at BMI 25 right now. My clothes are a tiny bit snug and I want breathing room.
What next? Increase Wegovy? Switch to tablets? Something else? I can't really afford weight loss meds but I can't afford to regain so I'm sticking with it. I eat mostly healthily, some treats, eat far smaller meals than I ever used to and still often get that "can't eat another bite" feeling. I do feel hunger, do eat 2-3x a day and am fully able to resist the sweet stuff if I want to. I'd say I finally have a good healthy attitude and relationship with food but am not sure I'd have the willpower to go it alone if the hunger and cravings returned.

What's worked for other maintainers who need to lose a bit?

Do what is working for you now, ie stay on the WG jabs and up the dose for a few weeks, get the extra weight off and you can always drop back to maintain.

I'd also recommend to avoid this happening in future to put a pin in it as soon as you're up by 3lbs where there's no explanation (like your period). I haven't been maintaining for long but I'm very cautious of nipping any weight gain in the bud straight away. I've lost over 130lbs and I'm aware that I gained that weight very slowly, over a long period of time where I didn't even notice the gain.

The festive period is coming up again so have a plan.
My plan is to remember that Christmas is only one day. Not 6 weeks of eating chocolates and drinking alcohol. And to not equate having a good time with stuffing my face. My idea of a good time is to be confident wearing the clothes I want, look good in photos, wear heels without it hurting, and most importantly being able to stand on the scales without regret.

What treats are you having? You can’t have treats when losing weight and very rarely when maintaining. Long term weight loss is not having the things

Well in terms of treats I mean I occasionally have a Penguin biscuit or bag of crisps. Calories wise I'm not counting strictly anymore but probably average around 1500 or so a day on a typical day. I tend to skip breakfast as not hungry, have a low calorie (200-300cal) shake for lunch and eat my evening meal with the family - usually meat and veg, with a small portion of potatoes. My diet is incredibly different than it used to be.
I stay at about 10st no matter what I do. Go on holiday, eat desserts, have a few drinks or normal life eating as outlined above. My weight stays where it is.
I need to just shift a few lbs. So I guess really I need to count the calories again and start putting the effort in!

Are you exercising at all?

NCfor24 · 21/10/2026 06:23

No exercise just the usual walking here and there but I do have a sedentary job so this is definitely an area I need to do more.
I suppose I feel frustrated that I lost the weight easily and now I need to really put effort it.
I did calorie count and stick to 1200 but it was effortless because the Mounjaro stopped my hunger and I didn't fancy anything so making super healthy low cal choices was easy.

I’d look at exercise as health is so much more important than weight. Strength and cardio and do it 2-3 times a week.
Also lost weight on wegovy and now at bmi around 26 so still overweight but I now work out regularly and feel SO much more positive than with just the weight loss.
Doesn’t have to be time consuming or expensive. Just regular.

@Yello24 thankyou. I have a walking pad and some light weights, I'll make a start!
I think I do know what I need to do really, I just want a magic wand!
