Restarting after op-injections or tablets?

Hello everyone

I used MJ last year to lose almost 5 stone. Have kept most of it off, I have another 3 stone to lose before I'm anywhere near a normal weight.

I'm having my gallbladder removed in 2 weeks. Surgeon has already said I can restart injections after 2-3 weeks.

But I'm wondering if I should start on the Foundayo tablets? I'm a high responder to MJ it worked very well for me, but the side effects were a bit rough. As I'll be post surgery I'm thinking the tablets may be a bit easier and as I reacted so well to the MJ the tablets should hopefully be the same....

Any thoughts?

If you're interested in the Foundayo tablets then give them a go and see how you get on. You can always change back to Mounjaro if it turns out they aren't effective for you.

Mounjaro is a dual GLP1 peptide and GIP agonist. Where Foundayo is a GLP1 non-peptide small molecule only.

Foundayo is less effective than Mounjaro but it is not a direct effectiveness comparison. You responded well to (I assume as you say you were a high responder) to low dose of Mounjaro. It may be you respond well to GLP1s and will to Foundayo's GLP1, but it might also be the GIP part that helped you respond well. It might also be the GIP part that caused your side effects and taking that out of the equation might help there.

There is no way to tell, but in your circumstances I would be tempted to give Foundayo a go. If it doesn't work, as @SilenceInside says simply switch back to MJ.

I had awful diarrhoea when taking Mounjaro so after 12 weeks when I had to stop for 6 weeks prior to surgery, I was not sure what to do when I was cleared to retake it. I got my supply from a local pharmacy and had a monthly meeting with the pharmacist which I found reassuring so I discussed the pros and cons of Mounjaro vs a different injection vs tablets. He was very honest and said it’s was likely that I would have the same reaction ie diarrhoea for two days each week whatever I used.

As I actually lost more weight doing intermittent fasting, I decided not to restart any medication. I have not put on any weight in the 10 months since I stopped even though I’m not doing intermittent fasting due to complications in my surgery which has left me in pain and unable to walk much. I’m having more surgery soon hopefully to solve the issues then I need to start some weight loss regime once I recover but I have not decided which one.
