I can't get rid of my pants

I have so many lovely underwear sets collected through the years.

I don't want to bin any of them, but they're all too big for me now.

Beautiful bras. Lovely knickers.

It's easily £300 of underwear I need to get rid of as they no longer fit.

But I can't!!!

Please tell me it's not just me in this boat feeling this way!

sell them?

Mulledjuice · 14/10/2026 17:11

donate them?

MrsMoastyToasty · 14/10/2026 17:20

Will a homeless shelter take them? Most get men's clothes and bedding donated but very little women's clothes.

SilenceInside · 14/10/2026 17:39

I recycled my largest and most worn bras via a service like the one linked. The bras I wore whilst losing weight were sold on Vinted, they were in decent condition still.

Pants just have to be put in clothes recycling, I wouldn’t just chuck them in general waste.

Thankfully I am not interested in fancy underwear so none of it was particularly expensive.

You can’t sell used pants on Vinted, for obvious reasons.

Donate the bras to a charity bin, the knickers black bag in the the black bin.

Sorry but i dont think anyone wants to be wearing someones worn knickers, no matter how good they are.

Calliopespa · 14/10/2026 17:49

Frame them as bedroom wall art?😂

Or hot wash them and tumble dry. You'd be surprised how much some will shrink.

Sogfree · 14/10/2026 17:54

I've not been clear.

I love the items so much I want to keep them. I don't want to donate or sell bras on vinted. They're just such nice pieces of clothing!

Keep them then? Not sure what you are asking 🙃

codkaandvoke · 14/10/2026 18:00

Don’t keep clothes you have grown out of or you will be fitting back into them

it’s the one downfall of losing weight. A new wardrobe and not being able to wear nice stuff that you now have that are too big

SilenceInside · 14/10/2026 18:25

Keep them, maybe make an art display if you love them a lot.

The other option would be to look for replacements in your current size, either the same or similar where possible. You could fund doing that by selling the larger sizes.

AlphaApple · 14/10/2026 18:45

They’re just pants. You’ve worn them. They don’t owe you anything. You will always be able to buy lovely new pants.

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · 14/10/2026 18:47

You can resize them to your new shape. Pants are easy to resize, just sew a new seam parallel to the two side seams and one gusset seam.

Bras are more fiddly, but possible.

StabiaGirl · 14/10/2026 18:58

Further to the post above, why not buy an overlocker and resize them?
That way, the new seams will be more like the original ones.

edit: overlocker, one word

eveningprimrose74 · 14/10/2026 19:02

No nice knickers, but I'm sitting in my 3XL tracksuit bottoms in the factory i work in, despite me being an XL or a 16-18 not a 26, & they feel like I'm wearing a nappy & way too much fabric but until they are dead they do not go anywhere. I'm also concerned of i give up my job or the jabs then I may regain the weight.
So for other reasons I won't give them up.

Onbdy · 14/10/2026 20:27

Not sure why you don’t want to sell the bras on Vinted? That’s what I’ve done and so many of the ones I’ve bought on there say ‘selling due to weight loss’ so that’s clearly what others are doing.

KizzyKoala · 14/10/2026 21:51

Can’t help with underwear. I bagged mine up and will bin them in 6 months time probably. I replaced with fresh new Boody stuff.

Clothes that I loved I took photos of and image searched on vinted and within a few determined months I had got a fair few identical replacements in my new size.

BobbleBear · 15/10/2026 10:21

I sewed my knickers on my overlocker to make them smaller but chucked the bras.

I’m not keeping any old FAT clothes. 😂

PearPeer · 15/10/2026 10:24

Buy a plus size mannequin and put it in your bedroom posed provocatively as a new art form.Spray paint it gold or silver whatever fits your colour scheme.

This. Put them in the back of your underwear drawer and look at them occasionally. 🤷🏻‍♀️
