Scared to start mounjaro due to food allergy

I was looking to hear from anyone who suffers from food allergies and has started mounjaro? I have been so uncomfortable with my weight for such a long time and nothing seems to work for me as I comfort eat a lot and suffer from alot of food noise. I have went through SheMed and was approved for mounjaro, it's currently in my fridge but I am absolutely now terrified to start. I am allergic to peanuts and have had to have hospital intervention 3 times in my life (twice as a child) the last time I had an anaphylaxis was 2022 and it totally and utterly terrified me to the point even now 4 years later I still convince myself I am back in that moment and it's happening again (I won't try any new foods etc) I was so excited to start but I've now convinced myself I will have anaphylactic shock from it if I start. (Sounds silly I know) I have talked with the provider and they have stated there's nothing to do with peanuts in the injection but it's still niggling me :(. I would really appreciate if there was anyone who has a severe food allergy that is also on mounjaro? Thank you :(

I don’t understand your thought process, fhere is no food or anything peanut related in this medication.

I can understand how it looks, it's because I read on the leaflet in rare occasions it can cause allergic reactions.. because I have suffered one that has had a big impact on my life I got a fright and wanted to see if I'd be at more of a risk this happening because I have suffered them before

I have been hospitalised twice with anaphylaxis to food, and I must admit it didn’t even cross my mind that I might get an allergic reaction to a medication. I read the ingredients in the injection before doing the first one and nothing caused me any concern. It’s basically the Tirzepatide which is the active ingredient which is the GLP1/GIP receptor agonist, then water, alcohol, various salts, glycerol and the preservative phenol. I am not allergic to any of those or anything like those, so I wasn’t worried about it at all.

As far as I am aware, having had any kind of previous anaphylactic doesn’t make you any more likely to react to the medication.

Loads of medications can cause allergic reactions so unless you’ve been advised not to take any medications without checking with your GP first then there should be no reason you’d be any more likely to react to mounjaro than anyone else.

I understand your concern, it maybe a situation you can’t take any medication if you feel you’re at risk of allergic reactions, unless it is life or death

A quick look online sees its vehicle is sterile water and some chemicals to keep it sterile.
I’d take the jab when someone is with you with your EpiPen in case but it’s very rare apparently - good luck it’s been fantastic for me 22 kg down in 12 months
