Side effects: MJ v Wegovy?

Tried Mounjaro and had great suppression but terrible constipation (on lowest dose). From a quick scan of the Wegovy threads, I see constipation and side effects in general mentioned less. I know the medication works in same way by slowing down transit but that Wegovy is only one type of hormone, rather than dual, so constipation also very possible. Anyone found this to be the case, that side effects are less with wegovy?? Likely clutching at straws but now that my usual cravings are back I'm considering Wegovy tablets and wondering if it might be an easier ride digestion wise.

I think Constipation is highly likely with any of the Weight Loss medications as they all slow down the transit of food. The solution is to increase the foods that are high in fibre as well as drinking lots of water. I also eat grapes and other fruits in the evening as my snack food.

Must admit, I found that mine improved a fair bit as I increased the dosage of MJ as it was definitely worse in the beginning.

My understanding from reading older threads is that Wegovy seems to generate more side effects compared to Mounjaro?

I think the side effects are very individual. I've often seen it mentioned that wegovy has more side effects, but I'm not sure if there's an evidence base for that, there's certainly many people who use wegovy and don't have any issues (myself included)

From accounts I've read, mounjaro often leaves people feeling 'stuffed' and that they can't eat, whereas wegovy tends to be more subtle, like you can eat but you're just not as interested as you ordinarily would be. I'm not sure if that has an effect on the perception of side effects too. I personally have found things a bit 'slower' on wegovy, but still within normal ranges, no constipation. I do consciously include a good amount of fruit/fibre in my diet, though I haven't needed any supplements/treatment to keep things regular.

@Pumpkindice I do MJ and DH does W. If anything, it’s the opposite way round for us. DH is hungrier than me but has still cut down. I never feel stuffed as I portion control. I know what I will eat comfortably and that’s meant I’ve lost weight. No obvious side effects for either of us. DH thinks he’s a bit tired the next day but can’t say I notice. I’ve been just great. No side effects at all. We eat fruit and fibre and a decent protein intake. Just be sensible with a diet and it works well.

@MeetMeOnTheCorner ah that's interesting. I think theres a lot of individual variation as well, I know a minority of people have horrible side effects regardless, and can't use the drugs at all. I think its one of those things you just have to try for yourself, preferably with a day off work/weekend just in case!

@Pumpkindice DH and I are delighted. DDs wedding next month and I’m down 2-3 dress sizes and DH is having a made to measure suit. We are doing the right things to make a success of this. I do think side effects are personal but they absolutely are not guaranteed. Friday evening jab is our preferred time.
