Anyone maintaining on a high dose?

I hit goal weight some time ago and am now titrating down from 10mg but even on 7.5mg I am noticing more of the dreaded food noise.

Am I destined for a life on 10mg? 😪

Have you considered titrating down more slowly by counting clicks? I went from 10mg to 4mg successfully by reducing in small increments like just a click or two each week. Not everyone is comfortable with click counting though, as it is against the guidance.

I'd prefer to stick to an actual dose (I take other medications so it just keeps things simple)

Was hoping to get back down to 2.5mg but not sure how if I am struggling at 7.5mg!

Yes I understand. (I keep a spreadsheet and use Shotsy app to keep track as I wouldn't want to risk an error.)

How long ago did you hit goal?

Previously I was counting down the days until my next shot and thought I might have to increase my dose again, but finally about a year after goal, I find each shot staying effective for longer than it used to, despite still being on a lower dose.

I’m on 10mg and have been for over a year at this dose and will be indefinitely. Slightly different in that I’m prescribed for Diabetes so it manages my sugar levels as well as my weight but neither me or my GP feel any need to change the dose.

Oh goodness I am not sure about goal - it's been a good few months now - but as I had a holiday planned I decided to stay on the dose that did the job (10mg was the one for me)

At the very least I need to move supplier as I am paying way too much!

I was in ten,

I did an extra month on ten whilst reverse dieting, so an extra hundred or so cals incremental each week , then moved to 7,5, still increasing cals, till I hit maintenance cals, and dropped to 5, the increase in cals offset the increase in hunger.

but hunger is normal, you need to exercise will power, for me it knocks the edge off, I don’t get cravings, I can eat a healthy portion and stop, my weight is very very stable, I’ve been on 5mg maintaining at a bmi 2o for over 18 months.

‘if you rely on the drugs to do the heavy lifting you will need to stay on a high dose, yes,

SethAndReubenTooSendGaloshes · 28/09/2026 13:16

Yes me
I went down to 7.5 but it's too low. I'm now maintaining on 8.25. I'll try to reduce again in a few months but I'm resigned to being on a fairly high dose indefinitely

It's not about 'relying on drugs to do the heavy lifting' it's about bodies being different and responding to the drug differently! Sheesh - even among WLI users we have to have a hierarchy of those who are doing it 'better' than others...

Willowy2 · 28/09/2026 13:24

I'm back to maintaining on 7.5mg once weekly. Whilst it would be ideal, I don't think the low doses for maintenance work for everyone.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 28/09/2026 14:00

I got up to 15mg and have managed to get down to 10mg but I can’t seem to get down from there. I’d like to because if I could get down 5mg then I’d have some wriggle room to go up if I put on weight.

BobbleBear · 28/09/2026 14:06

I’m still losing slowly as very near goal weight of 5st loss. I take a 4.5mg dose every 6 days rather than every 7 days as it keeps my suppression on an even keel without a great drop on the last two days.

Maybe try dosing every 5 or 6 days rather than every 7 days?

I use the calendar on my phone to track when I need to inject as I occasionally change the dose day to suit my plans.

You jumped and attacked before you even bothered ro understand properly or even clarify as you didn’t. The op simply said some food noise was coming back in, this is normal and to be expected, it can’t be avoided without relying on the drugs to do the heavy lifting.

none of the nonsense you posted was even alluded to.

I'm not sure the post was meant like that? Plus the poster had a point. I'm really struggling with hunger at the minute. I went to 12.5mg but 10mg was the best dose for loss overall. I am now on 4mg and i either work out how to manage this hunger, or i go up a dose and let mj do the heavy lifting.
Id like to keep the dose low and maybe stop mj one day so i will battle it.. but... i do know i could just take a highet dose and it would be so much easier!

No, I don't get this
Of course mounjaro is doing the 'heavy lifting' that's what it's for
Some hunger is normal and inevitable when reducing doses. I don't think OP or anyone else on this thread is aiming to maintain on full suppression! The point is that we need to find the level at which the increased hunger is manageable, and doesn't tip into unmanageable. For me, that's currently somewhere between 7.5 and 9mg. If I was looking for barely any hunger I would have stayed at 15. I stand by my comment. It's sneery and suggests those on higher maintenance doses aren't doing it 'properly'

I agree that Empress' comment read fairly judgementally to me, but intention is unknown. I don't know if I'm misreading, but I thought you were supporting OP and disagreeing with Empress who seemed to be suggesting that relying on MJ for the "heavy lifting" was wrong and that willpower was what was needed.

Zempy · 28/09/2026 20:06

Yes, I am trying to maintain on 7.5 but I have gained about half a pound a week the past couple of months.

I think I will have to up it to 8/9/10 in increments. Very annoying given the cost of the stuff but I’m never going back!

EmpressStorm · 28/09/2026 20:13

Wow this kicked off. I wasn’t being judgey, I was writing a statement of fact. I don’t care what dose someone maintains on, I was simply answering the ops question, there is no need for attacks, we get thay enough from people not on the meds.Confused

sometimes instead of assuming the worst it’s best to seek clarification.

HappyWineDay · 28/09/2026 22:53

I’ve been at goal for a while and slowly titrating down. But my experience has been that the jump between the standard dose sizes is too much. Far more manageable to sit a few weeks at intermediate levels, coming down slowly. From 10mg I’d at least do a month at 8.75 before going to 7.5mg. I might even consider smaller increments. (I’ve currently worked my way down to 10mg this way.)

5050canwormkwell · 30/09/2026 08:58

I've been maintaining a 7.5 stone weight loss for 6 months. BMI 23. I'm taking 10mg and it doesn't really feel enough. I'm hungry and was laid awake at 4am last night with hunger pangs struggling to go back to sleep. I run 3x a week, diet reasonable. My BMI has been 40+ my whole life (I'm mid 40s) and I'm just worried that I am not going to be able to maintain even on this dose. Depressing.
