Just after some sympathy really.
Been on wegovy since mid July, super happy Ive lost 1st 7lbs. My start weight was 12 5 and today I'm 10st 12lb so I'm delighted BUT I'm about 5 days in to the 9mg tablet and no wonder I've had a big loss this week, I can't eat! My stomach is sore and I'm full all the time, when I actually do force some food down i can be in pain for ages.

I enjoyed the first two months, took a week off on holiday - didn't make much difference but i think I was able to enjoy a bit more food and definitely beer. Now if I attempted to drink a beer I'd not get past a sip and even couldn't manage my wine last night 🤣

On the 1.5 and the 4 i still had to use a bit of willpower and sense but now it's just can't eat and it's shit. There's no enjoyment or looking forward to food whereas before I still did.

Has anyone else found this? I've not taken one today because I need a break but the effects are still as strong.

Just a moan, I think I might go back down to the 4mg.

I was the same. I went back down a dose. A friend of mine got a pack of 4 and a pack of 9 and alternated weeks until she got used to it.

Given you'd lost a stone and a half in two months, is there a reason you went up a dose? It sounds like the 4mg was working and you were losing weight pretty rapidly. I'm a little unsure what you were expecting by increasing it further when it was already having a strong effect, but I would think about going back to 4mg, and only increasing if you felt that wasn't working.

Can you split the 9mg pills? It would be cheaper to do that. I was on the jabs and couldn’t eat anything. Great for weight loss but made me feel awful, the 5mg dose was too high. I’m now on the pills and better manage the type of side affects you’re having by reducing the dose or missing a day or so, although I’m not sure that’s how they are meant to be taken.

You can't split the pills I don't think they would be absorbed in the same way.

Maybe stop drinking alcohol and you’ll find you want to eat more actual nutritious food.

StickyProblem · 26/09/2026 20:33

No advice OP but I’m a week into the 4mg after two months on 1.5mg and I feel very mild nausea all the time. Almost like pre-nausea. Also I can taste the revolting tablet coating for the first few hours each day. It’s strange how you can tell it’s in your system.
Am doing ok weight wise but it’s very slow progress.

StickyProblem · 26/09/2026 20:34

Actually I have wondered if it’s down to dehydration. I used to wake thirsty and drink water in the middle of the night but I don’t do it now because of needing the empty stomach first thing. Would drinking more water help?

bananaobama · 26/09/2026 20:59

Well done on the loss

ive barely lost anything and now on the 9mg and hoping it will start to kick in now

i dont feel too bad. I can still eat, i have to use will power to stop myself

main symptoms are gas and bloating

bananaobama · 26/09/2026 21:00

Perhaps skip a day here and there?

BobbleBear · 26/09/2026 21:04

You’re losing too quickly so not sure why you moved up a dose? Presumably you weren’t obese to start with so maybe try and slow it down a bit.

Remember, you risk losing bone density as well as muscle mass if you lose weight too quickly and you won’t be able to easily restore bone density.

StonwEd · 26/09/2026 22:09

Yeah fair comments id slowed for a month and just took the next dose. Thanks for the advice, still new to this journey and was looking for allies rather than mean comments (not everyone ❤️)

Please keep in mind that even if your weight loss had slowed, it's still a lot of weight to lose in that time span, you don't want to be losing any faster as a PP said. Try and focus on the fact that you want fat loss, not 'just' overall weight loss, and seek advice from your prescriber if the online pharmacy try and automatically push you into higher doses (many are set to do this unless you specifically ask them not to)

Weight loss always slows down, but often that's because what you're seeing is fat loss, rather than fat loss + water weight as it tends to be in the initial stages. It's also natural to have some plateaus, that doesn't mean it stops working - our bodies don't usually gain weight in a linear fashion, and they don't usually lose weight in a linear fashion. It sounds like you're already doing well on 4mg so please give it a bit of time!

Thank you! I do know all this I'm a sensible head. For the record I'm very active, and contrary to that one posters thoughts, I don't drink much alcohol, I just had a holiday and one glass of wine last night.
As for food I eat very well, I'm a bit of a legend when it comes to cooking. Guess the real good thing from all this is stopping my snacking - Ive not had a dessert or any crisps since I started the tablets.

I'm conscious of losing too much too fast and posting here has been a reality check 👍 I do exercise a lot so hopefully I'm going to keep muscle tone but I'll get my head sorted and speak to my provider.

Sounds like you're on a good path with it! And obv ignore the PP, there are some people who will come on here and post holier than thou 'advice' just to feel smug, I bet they don't follow it themselves!
I know the scale changing can be addictive, I try to remind myself that the point for me, like yourself, is to try and break some bad habits around portions and snacking. Learning to force myself to eat when I don't feel hungry seems very counter intuitive in the long run.

chuggy · 27/09/2026 22:06

I actually could have written this post myself - exact same scenario although I started early August (same starting weight as you and currently about 11st 2). I’ve just moved up to 9mg (yesterday!) - I was so sick yesterday and I’ve not had any side effects to this point (well certainly nothing as dramatic as yesterday!).

Today I took it again and I’ve not felt or been sick so I’m hoping yesterday was maybe a one-off. Hope so anyway as it’s been working well - although I did notice that the 4mg wasn’t having quite the same affect towards the end. It felt like the right thing to increase the dose and hopefully it will be in the end!
