Alcohol tasting strange

I’ve seen a lot of information about how GLP1 meds reduce the desire for alcohol or make its effects worse, but I wonder if anyone has found, like me, that it simply doesn’t taste nice - specifically red wine, which I used to like.

I completely lost the taste for wine - it just tasted like vinegar! Gin still tastes ok but I’m very limited with how much I can drink and it has to be with food

I don’t enjoy wine anymore, or any fizzy mixers taste odd. I don’t drink often but if I do it’s vodka and cranberry juice now.

If it's tasting vinegary, really that's how it tastes. For many people the GLP-1 reduces the dopamine hit that you get, so what you're tasting is the wine without the addition of your brain saying 'this is good', in the same way that a child who hasn't tasted alcohol before would usually think alcohol tastes 'bad'. I had a similar thing where I thought I couldn't taste the salt on some chips when I was eating out but I realised it was the lack of dopamine, it was no longer an interesting taste.
The effect for me wore off a bit after the first few weeks.

When I was on Wegovy I didn't enjoy the taste of alcohol and I didn't really crave it at all. Since switching to Mounjaro I find it tastes much more palatable again and (annoyingly) I DO actually want to have a drink. I rarely have more than one drink in a day, but even so, I do fancy a G&T or a glass of wine, whereas on the Wegovy I just didn't fancy it. And when I thought I wanted it, I didn't really enjoy it.

That was the only thing about Wegovy that was better than Mounjaro for me though.
