Wegovy tablet every other day

I have been on MJ for 2 years now. Over the last year I have been on maintenance and I have tapered down from 12.5 to 2.5. I am thinking of my next stage. Initially I was going to see if I can space the 2.5 jab to every 8 days, then 9 or 10 days. I am also looking at the Wegovy tablet and starting daily and then maybe every other day to save money. Has anyone else done this? £50 a month on the lowest Wegovy dose would be more financially viable long term. I'm with Medexpress so not sure if they would be ok ordering every other month.

The lowest Wegovy tablet dose (the one I started on) is 1.5mg - I don't think that would be enough for you to lose weight on while taking it every other day, unless you're one of those people where it works really well.

OP isn’t trying to lose weight.

I think you could only try it, anecdotally the Wegovy tablet is already less effective than a Mounjaro injection, but it’s always worth trying to see how you get on with a daily tab then testing the ‘every other day’ if it is doing you well daily. I do think you might struggle with prescriptions though, but there are some places who are willing to prescribe differently and if you did it every 6 weeks you might be ok. You can only buy ask.

But even if they just want to use it to stay the same weight they are now, they'll want the effects of the tablets.
As you say, the tablets are less effective than the jabs, and anecdotally quite a few people don't get much effect at all from the 1.5mg tablets taken every day, so I can't see how taking them every other day will help them, the effects will be too weak

The Foundaro (Mounjaro) tablet might be a better bet for OP - that's less effective again though than the Wegovy tablet but that might mean that it ends up being priced a bit cheaper for maintenance rather than weight loss

Why would a tablet that’s less effective than the tablet OP is considering be a better option?

As they seem to be concerned about the cost.
As above, I think the Foundayo one may well end up being priced cheaper as it's likely to end up as one that more people choose for maintenance so they might be more likely to be afford it daily (making it more effective than Wegovy 1.5mg) rather than alternate days.
Does that help?

Thanks. After 2 years paying £180+ for the jabs and 1 year of maintenance, I'm looking for the next stage of weaning myself off them and hopefully save some money in the mid/long term. I think I'll space out the jabs a bit to start with and then move to the tablets. I don't mind taking the tablets daily for the first few months, but it would be good to know if there is the worthwhile option to go every other day and pay less.

Foundayo seems to be the same price as Wegovy at the lower doses with Medexpress. I could change suppliers. This is all part of my next stage research that I need to look into.

I'm currently on the lowest dose of the wegovy pill and roughly taking it every other day. It's working to maintain and if I put on a pound then I go back to taking it everyday for a week. I'm still ordering monthly though and currently paying £113 a month. Trying to find it cheaper so will look at the couple you mentioned!

It was all going rather well until the last sentence. I don’t know if you intended it but it sounds snidey as hell.

Change supplier each month to get a new customer discounted price each time. I have used Bolt, Lloyds, zava. Ogovy.co.uk is the comparison site.

HaleyMorgan · 18/09/2026 16:21

I can see why the lower-cost tablet option is appealing, but I’d be careful about taking Wegovy tablets every other day without specific advice from your prescriber. The approved dosing schedule and how the medicine works need to be considered, so it isn’t necessarily a straightforward way to reduce costs

CrikeyMajikey · 18/09/2026 17:05

I was on MJ 5mg injections and it was too strong for me, I couldn’t hardly eat as I felt so nauseous every day. I think 4mg was probably my ideal dose. I came off it and have put weight back on. I’m currently on the WG pill, 9mg, and it’s not quite stopping the food noise. I started on 2.5mg which did nothing, at 4mg I began to notice a slight reduction in my cravings, at 9mg I still have some food noise but am definitely eating less. Next month is 25mg, which initially I was worried would be too strong but now I’m not so sure.

NaomiWeatherford · 22/09/2026 20:30

I’d check with MedExpress before changing either the injection interval or taking the Wegovy tablet every other day, as those schedules aren’t something I’d assume are interchangeable. They should also be able to explain how they’d handle ordering and ongoing maintenance
