Anyone following developments on the new Reta pen for weight loss?

Is anyone, like me interested to learn more about the new Reta pen. What I have been reading is that it can possibly work better than Mounjaro. It seems to have good reviews coming to the end of phase 3. I know that it has not been cleared yet in the UK but it is looking very promising. I just hope that it can be cheaper, but I'm not holding my breath as its from Eli Lilly. Thoughts please.

It will be more expensive as it’s stronger op. Sorry.

Still feels too far away to take more than a fleeting interest at this point. Maybe more interesting once it has passed its phase 3 trials, gets approved in US and we see what the prescribing guidelines are in UK.

Also agree it is likely to be more expensive than Mounjaro as it gives better results and it will be targeted for those Mounjaro didn’t work for.

New treatments will likely work better, that’s the point of research. However research costs and they only have a limited window make it back so new treatments will always be more expensive. Making everybody fat for the last 50 years has been beautifully lucrative. Making everybody think again needs to do likewise.

Yes they don’t introduce better drugs at lower price points.

I work in the sector. I am sure it will not have the same indications, probably it will be for a higher BMI than 30.

Likely to be much more expensive and a year away. An option for those when other WLI haven’t worked.

Yep I’ve been hearing a lot about how it might be used when someone has got up to 15mg and stalled etc. sounds positive for some, but doubt it will come cheap!

Hmmm not good is it.

Have you tried Wegovy and MJ, OP?

Berengariaoftheverylowcountries · 14/09/2026 19:58

I think a new effective drug IS good actually. It just won’t be cheap.

Yes me too, I can’t see the issue, we will have the pills at the low end, then wegovy injections, next level up mounjaro and then the level above that Reta.

There are others in the pipeline too. Novo has CagriSema in phase 3 trials. Semaglutide with a amylin analogue and similar timelines for release to Reta if they pass phase 3 trials.

They are not the only ones pfizer, Astra zenica etc are all working on WLI. This is an older graph someone on Reddit did with the available ytial results at the time, shows how many are being developed. Obviously not all will pass trials

Wow that’s interesting, I think the positive to this is the price will come down as they fight for space.
