Anyone using Mounjaro in Republic of Ireland?

I’m thinking on starting on Mounjaro? I’m 90kg and I’d like to lose 15kg. I have a few questions please.

Where are you getting it from?

Do you get prescriptions from your gp and if so how many months does it cover?

How much are you paying?

Is it working?

Im sure there is more.

I get it from buahealth.ie
it costs 50 euro prescription every month and I have the script sent to my local pharmacy . The first month I did 2.5 and it cost approx 220 euro . I’m not on 5mg and it costs 314 euro . There is another big jump ( maybe over 400 + ) to 7.5 mg . I need to see if it’s worth going up a dose it not .

Yes, it was my GP who told me about it and where to buy it from. She’s a really good GP with all the family.

I get a paper prescription from my GP that I post up to McKeevers Pharmacy in NI. I pay £205 (sterling) for 5mg of Mounjaro which they post down to me via DPD for next day delivery. I get 6 months supply on each prescription.

2.5mg Inc postage £185
5mg. £205 (€240 approx)
7.5mg £285
10mg. £320
12.5mg £380
15mg. £400

All above prices include postage. If you live near the border, you could collect it yourself much cheaper.

I could buy it with a script from my local pharmacy but they charge about a hundred euro more for 5mg.

Just checking do they send all 6 months out at once to you @Katalica or do you get it month by month. That sounds like a much better price.

I post the paper prescription up to them so they keep it on file and then order 1 pen at a time when I can afford to. I could choose to order all 6 at once but they won’t reduce the P&P fee so there’s no point really.

I’ve been on it over a year and they’ve been very efficient. They have a good online system for re-ordering and I’ve had the occasional phone call to clarify something if I need to.

The only downside is that you can’t buy directly from them without a GP prescription, like you can in the UK. I’d like to try Foundayo for maintenance at some point and they do sell it, but it’s not licensed here in Ireland yet, even though the Lily plant that makes it, is just up the road from me. 🙄

Honestly, if you can afford it, it’s life changing!

The upside is that my GP has said I might need to stay on Mounjaro or equivalent for life so I won’t have to worry about whether the pharmacy might stop me taking it at a lower bmi as they just fulfil the GP prescription.

That is excellent @Katalica and I hadn’t even thought of the aspect of how to stay on it if I need to. I’m going speak to my GP you sound like you have a great system.
