Mounjaro Stopped Working

Hi all!

just wondering if anyone else has experienced mounjaro weight loss stopping? I’ve been on 15mg since April but I haven’t loss since May time.

I’ve lost 5 stone with still 3 stone to go until I reach a semi healthy weight - fairly active (2 exercise classes a week and a very physically busy NHS job with lots of steps) count all my calories including weighing things like cheese, milk etc. Not sure what else to do!

I don’t feel any different the day before jab day VS the day after and haven’t felt suppression for a long time.

Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?! Is it worth £266 a month to have no supression? Any advice would be very welcomed Smile

Are you succumbing to it ie eating more?

No not at all - eating 1500 calories a day, sometimes less if it’s an extremely busy work day. But 99% of the time I am eating 1500.

Well brilliant. So… save yourself the money

How old are you? I am sixty and would gain on 1500 calories. My maintenance intake is around 1350.

I’m 28 - my maintenance is fairly high as I still have 3 stone to go until I’m considered a “healthy” weight.

I think that this is pretty common for long term use of Mounjaro, in that it is still working as you are managing to stick to your 1500 calorie total. So you may not be noticing the kind of really obvious suppression that you had in the early days, but you are not overeating or binging.

I would say that 1500 cals might be close to your TDEE and therefore maintenance levels or a very slow rate of loss. What is your current TDEE?

If you have been losing steadily at 1500
and still eating 1500
you will carry on losing

localnotail · 30/08/2026 11:27

I would say either stop taking it (if you think its not supressing your appetite at all) and stick to your routine/ calorie intake to continue steady weight loss.

However I think you probably do get appetite suppression - you just used to it. I would say reduce carbs, increase protein, and calculate the exact required calorie intake - it would not be 1500.

bobbybigbollocks · 30/08/2026 11:39

I think your body has got used to your eating plan. Give it a shake up. Try a fast or alternate day fasting. You might have to drop calories to 1200 for while or up protein and fat. If you aren’t keto now try dropping carbs to under 20g a day. Up your water intake massively.
Just change stuff up and the scales tend to move. BUT your could still be changing shape while the scales stick.

WeAllHaveWings · 30/08/2026 11:45

What is your sedentary TDEE at current weight and how much of a deficit is 1500 calories?

Mounjaro will be doing its thing, perceived suppression doesn’t last forever for many people but you will notice the difference if you stop.

How is your diet looking? Are you keeping up with protein focused foods at every meal through the day including breakfast, hydration, fibre and whole foods to help Mounjaro work or could some of those habits slipped? I am guilty of that and when I notice I realise diet changes still do affect my cravings.

QueefQueen80s · 30/08/2026 11:47

Could you post what you eat in a typical day, it’s unusual to not lose on those calories at your age with weight to lose still

Mysticmaiden · 30/08/2026 17:11

I'd recalculate on www.tdeecalculator.net though the set body fat of 15% needs changing because its too low for most people. Are you including oil, butter, spread when you track etc? How are you tracking? Definitely reduce carbs as that made a massive difference for me, I never stalled once in 14 months apart from when I was away on holiday and I even lost a further few lbs at bmi 22. Also height matters as shorter people can't get away with as many calories. At 5ft 3' 1500 is my maintenance calories.

Veraandacupoftea · 30/08/2026 17:38

I think it’s normal to not have as much suppression.
I have been using 15mg for over a year and it is disheartening to spend all that money and only loose a pound or two a month.
double check all your calories.
I have lost over 130lbs so I’m willing to take it to maintain (although I need to loose another 2 stone or so In reality)

I still loose weight if I stick to my calories, it’s just slightly harder as I’m not getting as much suppression as a year ago .

AgnesMcDoo · 30/08/2026 17:40

I had the same problem. I dropped back down to 12.5 and then went back up to 15 and that did the trick

Mysticmaiden · 30/08/2026 18:02

I went from 15mg at bmi 25 and now I'm at 4.33mg bmi 21.8 by tapering down over the last 9 months adjusting my dose and actually have super strong suppression and satiety and zero food noise so I don't think it's necessarily normal for suppression to wear off at 15mg, maybe there is receptor oversaturation going on also when on higher doses it can lower you blood sugars too much so you end up losing suppression hungry all the time, that's what happened to me and its actually even stronger suppression and satiety coming down the doses and I've lost a further stone, when going up they only lasted 2-7 weeks max for me on each dose. I've been on mj 2 years since oct 24 and never lost suppression fully.

Me too. I went down from 12.5mg to 10mg for a month then back up again. Seemed to give me a bit of a boost.

I’d wonder if it really ever worked as the drug doesn’t stop working. Just the placebo effect wears off. Very odd you’re not losing on 1500. Anyway , if it has no impact, don’t take it, save the money and stick to your defecit as it seems it’s just willpower.

Cat4324 · Yesterday 23:12

I've had the same, I'd been maintaining or gaining since early June, even when I increased my dose to 15mg with no apparant effect. I've finally had a loss of 2.1kg this week🎉 bringing me to 20.6% of my starting weight lost. I let myself eat what I wanted for a couple of days before locking in and doing 4 days of strict, calorie counting & weighing everything which seems to have done the trick. When I did my ewiw days, I didn't go out and buy a whole chocolate cake to eat by myself but I did 'normal people' things like had a brownie in the cafe, did burger and chips at home and didn't measure anything etc. Then on my strict days, I measured everything down to the gram incuding fruit and salad, all got weighed and tracked no exceptions. Single serve portions were my friend, single yoghurt pots instead of heaping greek yoghurt from the big tub were great and easy to grab

caringcarer · Today 01:23

How long have you been on Mounjaro? I'd try dropping down to 10mg whilst upping protein and dropping down carbs just to see if it has an affect. In 6 weeks I'd go back up to 12.5 mg.

Maintenance should be calculated on lean mass, not fat mass, since you fat has less metabolic needs.
Leaving this aside, if you are not losing at 1500, it means your maintenance is lower and you need to lower your food intake.
