Maintenance providers advice- flexibility tapering down doses

I’ve trawled through the boards on here and they’ve been so helpful with the whole journey so far, but I’m hoping someone might be able to help with questions about maintenance providers.

I’ve been using Monj throughout and have read their maintenance pages, but struggling to find info to answer a few questions. I’m approaching my goal weight and am currently taking 5mg mounjaro, with a target BMI of 21.

I'd like to taper down to a lower dose, ordering slightly less frequently than monthly, but inevitably building up a small stockpile.

If that goes ok I might try tapering off completely (very slowly). However, if that doesn’t work out, I’d like the option to restart at a later date (ideally without having to pay to remain on a provider’s books in the meantime).

Does anyone know of an (affordable!) provider that would allow this? I’m not sure how flexible Pharmulous, Oushk or Lotus are when it comes to pausing/restarting treatment?

Or do I look at swapping to wegovy or even foundayo?

Would be really interested to hear from anyone who has experience with this!

I recently had a maintenance consultation with Swift Doctor and they were great. I have a small stockpile (4 pens) and I don’t need to order with them until I get to near the end of those and they’ll put a note on my file to say that it’s ok when I do reorder.

I’m currently on 3.75mg hoping to taper to 3mg initially when I reach maintenance shortly and then to 2.5mg. They’re happy for me to do that.

I'm with swift doctor for maintenance. I had a video call with them to discuss my options and they're really flexible with their approach. They allow 8 weeks between orders and are supportive of spacing out doses eg to 10 days as well as microdosing. I've got a 3 pen stash and they've agreed I can use that to find my maintenance dose and then reorder whatever dose I need (I'm currently on 7.5mg but slowly working my way down to find the lowest dose that works for me). So if I find 7.5mg is my maintenance dose I can order that rather than having to go back down to 2.5mg despite having the break in orders. You also get a maintenance code which gives you £10 off every order.

That’s really interesting to know, as I actually contacted them by email about 2 months ago asking about doing what you are. I had planned to join them for maintenance, but then the price increase happened and I ended up having a stockpile. I was quite disappointed to be told that they don’t allow microdosing or any off label use of the medication, even though I know a few people who have been told otherwise and are on a maintenance plan with them that allows it. Instead, they told me that once my stockpile was used up, I could contact them to restart at 2.5mg.

Maybe I need to do a video consultation and see what they say now, but for the time being I’ve had to stop ordering and use my stockpile to gradually come down from 10mg. I’m now on 5mg, so I’m hoping I can maintain on 2.5mg. If I can, then it shouldn’t be as much of an issue if I did need to go back to them and restart at 2.5mg. I’m hoping that maybe I won’t need to restart at all if I can continue to maintain. So far it’s looking promising!

Thanks for the responses- I'll look to see if I can speak to someone at Swift Doctor and see what they say 🤞

Oh that's good!

I am in maintenance and using lotus they have been great. I am currently on 5mg MJ. Went down to 2.5mg after a break of 2 weeks and a regain of weight 9lb which I am struggling to lose the last 4lb so I decided to go back up to 5mg, once finished my MJ supply I going to try wegovy. Lotus allow 6-8 weeks between ordering they ask why late to order and never had an issue. You can restart up to 6 months after a break. Some pharmacies allow 12 months.

I booked a consultation with swift dr and they were great. I order approx every 8 weeks

I'm with oushk who have a flexi plan where you have to pay £10 a month to stay on books but can have a break indefinitely and reorder at any time. Ill be switching to it soon as ive been tapering down from 15mg now at 4.33mg, I use 10mg pens amd short dose when my doses get too strong, lost a further stone coming down. I've got a years worth of stash so I'll do the flexi plan to use it up then either try without or try tablets to maintain.
Pharmulous and swift Dr do free breaks for upto 12 months. Not sure about the others. Some have cut offs of bmi, oushk allows down to 19.5. I would've switched to Pharmulous but my stash is too long now and so I need a longer than 12 months break.
