Why am I being rejected for weight loss injections at my weight?

I’m hoping to buy some weightloss injections, I’m in reality a stone and a half off a practical weight for myself. I’m 5ft 5 and 11 and a half stone. My problem is for years I have struggled with over eating - literally the urge can feel like pain. I also work in an intensely stressful job with long hours and have two teens who do clubs, one of which involves volunteering on my part. - my time is not my own.
Every time I try to order, I keep getting getting rejected. Why is this?

Because you need to have a higher BMI. A stone and a half overweight isn't that much of a health issue.

Because you don't weigh enough to qualify I expect.
It's usually BMI of 27+ if you have other qualifying factors, and 29 or 30 I think if you don't.

It's bmi 30+ to be prescribed or bmi 27+ if you are an ethnic minority or have a qualifying health condition like sleep apnoea, high BP, diabetes etc there are some pharmacies that prescribe off label now to bmi 25+ try med express, Voy or juniper.
Over eating or a high appetite and carb or sugar cravings can be a sign of insulin resistance. I had prediabetes and had decades of these symptoms that worsened over time and also other high blood sugar symptoms.

Your BMI is only 26.8. To be prescribed you need a BMI of 30, or 27 with a weight related health condition. Or if you are certain ethnicities you can be prescribed from BMI 27.

If you want to access weight loss injections with a BMI lower than that, you will need to use one of the pharmacies that prescribes off licence to those with a BMI from 25. The two that I know of are MedExpress and Voy.

Say you weigh more than you do, I’ve lost two stone on mounjaro and had to massage figures to get the jabs. I’m not on it now as can’t afford it but it’s been fantastic.

@Sameoldsameold78 the OP doesn't need to lie and claim she weighs more than she does. She can legitimately be prescribed by the pharmacies mentioned above who will prescribe off licence.

Off licence prescribing won't make you ill @HappyEarl , but the prescribers will be clear that there's no evidence that the benefits will outweigh the risks of side effects given that you are not overweight with a weight related health condition, nor obese.

Voy and Med Express will prescribe to you at this weight. It's not uncommon. There is a thread on here, BMI under 27 WLI or similar, with lots of people doing it. I was a similar weight and height and had no trouble with Voy, it has been fantastic and I'm now at my goal weight after 3/4 months, all on low doses and no major side effects.

If I ordered via medexpress would I need to send photos?

I was rejected twice purely because I don't have diabetes. In some places they will only accept you if you have diabetes.

Which pharmacies @ToadRage ? Are you BMI 30 plus?

You don't need to have T2 Diabetes to get a private prescription for WLI, that's not one of the MHRA criteria and any pharmacy which is applying that as a criteria is choosing to go beyond the usual prescribing criteria. Which is a bit odd.

Sorry I should have mentioned NHS. My neurological consultant said I should have them. I can't afford private.

Prescribing at your BMI would be 'off label' and to my knowledge the only provider who would consider it for BMI 25-27 and no health related weight conditions would be Voy (assuming you're in the UK)
Medexpress will prescribe to that BMI but only with a related health condition.

I’m same height and was about 11-12 to start. Using MedExpress and had to send a photo. But you have to pay. ME are about £180 a month with a £40 discount for first month. If you don’t meet NHS criteria then paying is your only option.

Perhaps go back to your consultant to explain the situation as they may not have much awareness.
