Sharps box disposal

Finally filled up my sharps box. Can't find anywhere to dispose of it though. Seems like the only way is to get the council to come and collect it which feels OTT to do that given I can drop off somewhere. Also, ex-DH and DS don't know about my mounjaro habit and I dont want them to! We currently share the same house (that's a whole other story!) So not keen on getting a collection as I might be out! Cover blown!

My local pharmacy doesn't take them.

Anyone know of a way to post it somewhere? I can't find anything online.

I think you can drop them off at a hospital. You could also ask your Mounjaro supplier what to do with it.

Our GP practice took mine, pharmacy did not.

My council does it. Put it on the doorstop by 7am, and a new sharps box magically appears. It was how my next door neighbour found out I'm diabetic, though, after quizzing me about my drug habit. 😀

I don't think there's any way of doing it without others finding out, unless you wait by the door for 12 hours on your allotted day.

Where do you work? . At my work we have a few sharps bins about cos there is diabetic staff. I just take my needles to work with me and pop them in their bins.. could be an alternative for you?

I haven't found anywhere which worries me - pharmacies won't, and GP and council only take them for people who have a community nurse providing a prescription. I've offered to pay but no dice!

I work at a GP surgery and only found out yesterday that we don’t - or shouldn’t - take sharps from privately prescribed mounjaro. Having said that if you just take it in and hand it over without saying anything except “can you take this for me please” the receptionist will likely assume you’re diabetic and take it without question. Just sign and date the front. Someone could sign it Mickey Mouse and I wouldn’t notice as we’re so busy.

I was only asked to sign mine once in 2 pregnancies. They never asked any questions even about the one I got from the community midwife rather than the pharmacy (which had a sticker on)
