Mainly based on cost!

I lost nearly 4 stone on Mounjaro. Got up to 7.5mg but I came off it about a year ago as I couldn't justify the cost

I've avoided the scales for ages but braved it this morning and I've put 9lb back on. I wasn't at target and I'd like to lose 2.5 stone.

Mounjaro is just so experienced. My friend has had good results on Wegovy which is cheaper but she'd not tried Mounjaro.

Now there's the tablets to think about too and it's all a bit confusing!

What would you go for if you were re-starting?

I might try Wegovy injections to see if I got on with them as if they did work for you it would be cheaper than Mounjaro. I wouldn’t start on the Wegovy or Foundayo tablets as they are much less effective, and about the same price. I would be prepared to switch to Mounjaro if necessary.

When I started int 2024 the decision was pretty simple as Mounjaro as significantly cheaper.

I’d be sticking with MJ. It’s worked well for me so if I had to start again I’d do exactly the same. Jabs for me over tablets every time.

Why not try Wegovy? If it works it’s much cheaper and if it doesn’t can go back to mounjaro.

It’s going to be a bit of a gamble whatever you try, especially when cost is unfortunately the main constraint. I really wish these medications were more affordable and accessible to everyone.

You may find you respond better to Wegovy, or that you need to get up to the higher doses before you see much effect. Or you might find it simply doesn’t work as well for you compared with how well MJ did.

Equally, you could try MJ again and find that the dose you need is just too expensive to afford.

Good luck, whatever you decide to go for. It’s such a difficult decision when there are so many choices but no guarantees.

Great advice - I think Wegovy might be the way to go rather than the pills. I need to price it up - i hate that it's not more affordable

There’s been a few similar posts on this Board from people who stopped MJ for several months and have regained weight.

Some said they had to build back up to their previous max dose before they felt any suppression at all the second time around, whilst for others, it kicked in again on 2.5mg.

Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing how you’ll respond so maybe try Wegovy injections 🤞but be prepared to have to swap back to MJ.
