How much is too much?

Day 10 of Wegovy so I'm on my second jab at 0.25mg. Cal deficit at 1800 a day (I count accurately and count everything), about 60g protein, drinking 2-3l of water, not very active at the moment as I have an injury but will be returning to a moderately active normality. I have about 30kg to lose.

So far I've lost 4.5kg, over the last 4 days I've been losing around 0.5kg a day. I've mentioned this to a friend on MJ who is concerned, but I don't know how much weight loss is too much as I know there are risks with fast weight loss. I feel fine, no side effects, less interested in food but not averse to it. Is my deficit too low? Just want some opinions and if anyone has been given any guidance on pace specifically on wegovy. TIA!

I wouldn't worry about any weight loss in first 2 weeks. Could be nothing could be a stone.. give it a few more weeks then hopefully you will settle on 1 to 2lb a week. Which is fine.

The first week or two aren't really representative of what your weight loss will be. Wait until after that and then ideally aim for around 1% of bodyweight per week. The larger you are the more leeway you have to do that safely.

Phew! Okay thank you both!

Yep what they said. I’d actually been on a diet and low carb for a few weeks before starting MJ, and even so the first 2 weeks saw bigger losses. After that it settled down to around 2lb a week on average, then as I approached goal weight I was lucky to lose 1lb a week.

I’d up your protein more too to avoid muscle wastage and make sure you’re getting plenty of fibre

First couple of weeks it’s mainly water, first week I lost 6lbs, it then moved to about 2lbs a week, I’d not be concerned. Also, gently, the bigger you are the starting losses tend to be bigger.

@Viperregency yep totally agree.. I was big big.
18 and half stone.. lost 10lb first week then 4lb 2nd week.. madness.. but then was between 1 and 3lb a week after that. Sometimes none..

Try and increase the protein esp if can’t exercise as bigger risk of muscle breakdown but wouldn’t worry the loss in the first week. Ideally get back to resistance training when you can.
